  1. With regard to a reply above: Anyone who thinks Covid19 is some kind of hoax designed to control the populace should go visit one of the emergency rooms in a U.S. high-positive State - but I strongly advise you to pack a mask...

Quoting someone from the rival Forum: "Have you ever noticed that all instruments designed to seek out intelligent life are pointed away from earth?"

  2. This is the first I've heard of "Simon":

But, I actually began flight simming in 1985 with a floppy disc of MSFS version 1 that someone gave me in my work office, and I played it on the company computer: A true IBM PC that cost $5,000 back then! Then I got a copy of FS Ver. 2, and I've been hooked on flight sim to this day.

Note: That IBM PC had 540k of RAM, and a 30mb hard drive...

  3. I also just D/L it - flew a quick trip from SeaTac to Calgary - I seem to have had a lot of problems with the autopilot holding the correct altitude ascending and descending though (perhaps I need to load a default aircraft first)?

But still a very cool freebie...

  4. One of the main advantages in Steam that does not exist in the FSX disc set is that you are able to verify the integrity of all the FSX files to possibly detect and correct a problem. The last resort with FSX Gold is doing a complete and tedious reinstall.

The Steam integrity app is located on the Dovetail Games/Steam home page...

  5. Recrecs:

Just because it's a big plane do not not always mean it's more difficult to land: I find that large aircraft (in the sim anyway) are more stable on approach than small planes that often tend to wander a bit off the runway alignment.

FYI: An important factor in a successful landing is knowing the altitude of the destination airport above sea level...

  6. The head of NASA said this morning that he hoped sometime in the near future that Americans might still hitch a ride in the Soyuz capsule and perhaps a Russian, in turn, would ride up in the Dragon. Thus, the cost would then be a "wash". He also said that up until now, we paid the Russians $90 million a pop for a ride...
  7. My father was in the U.S. Navy in WW II for the last two years of the War - he was on a troop transport ship, and then on a tender ship. He was most fortunate as his ships never encountered the enemy. And he got to see the world of that time: From India to Rio in Brazil, and many other places... His ship was actually bound for Pearl Harbor out of San Diego when the War ended, and they turned the ship around to go home. I was fortunate too, as I was born a year later...

All here should remember this special Day: "They died to make us free".

  8. Well, I see this as another case of the haves and the have-nots: Many simmers out there who still use FS9 or even FS2002 probably simply cannot afford a decent gaming PC to make the jump to FSX. And, even so, there is nothing wrong with that at all if they enjoy or are satisfied with the previous versions. On the flip side, many FSX users may not have the funds to buy or upgrade their current rigs to met the demands of the 2020 version. Even more so, many will find their current Internet may be deficient to handle the on-line connections.

My problem right here is many of these Forum postings are filled with those who only too happy to see MSFS 2020 fail, or fall flat on it's face out of the starting gate. Why is that? What king of negative agenda does that represent. Are you guys posting some kind of fair warning, or just a hopeful prediction? Or sour grapes?
