  1. I think we're now getting into an area that's called apples and oranges...

So I will end this on my end and say "Whatever floats your boat"

  2. You all know that FS9 was released in July of 2003 - to keep it in prospective, the very first IPhone was released almost exactly four years later. In between, FSX was released in 2006. I actually purchased both of those sims back then.

So I say to all those devotees of FS9 and flip-phones, please keep this info on the QT: It's now 2022...

  3. Truth be told: MSFS 2020 was released to the public on August 18, 2020. It was basically a beta application (almost a completely new flight sim designed from scratch) with many inherent problems. But as the Microsoft Corporation had a big stake in XBox, they were gung ho to release it. So now, 14 months later, the Asobo Team is still busy tweaking, fixing problems, and updating MSFS.

But as they say, patience is a virtue...

  4. Corporations usually do not expend rather generous amounts of money to lose money - this also applies to Microsoft. If they only break even on FS2020, it allows them to advertise all the other XBox and PC games via this new flight sim. A lose-leader perhaps? Plus, there are still corp. tax write-offs.

I actually still fly FSX mostly: FS2020 heats up my current PC components to unacceptable levels - so I'm still waiting for higher-end gaming PC's prices to taper off a little (perhaps in vain) till I invest in one...

  5. Difference between the launch of FSX in 2006, and the overly-hyped MSFS 2020: 2020 had dozens of volunteer beta testers for months supposedly giving feedback to the Asobo Team prior to the actual launch day. I'm sure many problems were apparent more than a year ago - so why are endless fixes still in play? Only Microsoft can answer that one..
