  1. So, I have recently moved from FSX and X-Plane and committed fully to MSFS 2020, New hard drives, RAM upgrade, fresh Win 10 Pro install MSFS is now the only software running on this PC.

So far it has gone ok, Saitek and Honeycomb hardware working, Air manager also seems fine on my two touch screens.

...However, I can not ‘pop out’ / undock panel screens on the MSFS to use on my other screens or overlay AirManager G530s ect. I have searched for help on this and everything tells me to hover my mouse over the screen then press the ‘right alt’ / ‘AltGr’ next to the space bar to which I should get a plus symbol. Nothing happens! I have checked this Right Alt/AltGr key is not assigned to anything in MSFS and it is not.

I have tried 3 different keyboards to ensure it is not a hardware button issue.

What am I doing wrong, I hope it is a really stupid mistake on my part as 4 days of frustration and I really want to fly!

It sounds like you're doing it right, but just to be clear, you are hovering the mouse over the PFD/MFD that you want to pop out right? Then you press the right ALT key?

You might try searching your keyboard bindings for "New UI Window" and see if yours is assigned to something else.New UI Window.JPG

  2. The autothrottle buttons are on the end of each throttle lever handle, but they're inop.

The speed selector knob on the AP panel has to be switched to Manual mode by clicking the outer ring. It's set to FMS mode by default, you'd have to set your airspeed for each waypoint of the flight plan in the FMS itself for this to work but I've never tried that.

Thanks Tim. I see how that works now for both cruise and FLC modes.

  3. I think IAS mode is only available during the climb phase IRL and the AP activates/deactivates IAS mode automatically.

I wonder if this is a bug. There is a “Speed” dial which you would think would set the speed for a FLC climb/descent, but it doesn’t do anything. FLC does work, but you have to use the “Nose Up/DN” buttons to move the speed. Weird.

  4. Are you loading an approach or just dialing in the ILS frequency yourself? It does work with loading an approach.

I just tried a short flight KSFO to KSJC ILS 30L. It has already switched to the ILS frequency for me and brought up the LOC1 dial.

You'll see the green dot on the right side which is the glide slope coming down. Right after this I engaged the APR mode and in a few seconds it captured the GS and you'll see that in the 2nd pic.

  5. Hi: I am having difficulty finding the correct setting to program the “ALT UP” and “ALT Down” on my Autopilot…I have the HDG settings ok, but what do I choose for up and down? No choice seems to be present to choose! (Lots to learn!)…Thanks,

    Steve

Here are the Autopilot functions I've set on my joystick. You'll probably want the Reference VS along with the Reference Altitude buttons. Hope this helps.

  6. I have noted this on the MFS Forum, but wondered if anyone else is experiencing the same issue.

Prior to the update (#7), when flying the 787, on touchdown, I would use a mapped button on my yoke to toggle on Reverse Thrust (RT), then used the throttle lever to increase amount of reverse thrust. Since the last update, this procedure no longer activates RT. The only way I can do it now, is to use my mouse to manually pull back the RT levers.

I tried re-assigning the RT button, but no difference. When I looked at re-binding the button, there are a number of what seem to be confusing "Reverse Thrust" assignment options, including "Hold Reverse Thrust".

It might be a "bug", but does anyone have any opinion or ideas?

    Thx.

    Tim

    My system specs:

    W10 64 Bit OEM Version 2004 (19041.685)

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E; 32GB RAM

CPU: Intel Core i7-9700KF 8-Core/8-Thread Processor

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super, 8GB

    Peripherals: CH Flight Sim Yoke

I noticed the same thing and it really messed up my first couple of landings. What appears to work is to hold the button while employing the reverse thrust. This is even though I’ve set a button to “Toggle Reverse Thrust”.

  7. Yeah, that’s a sneaky one that got me too. It worked at first and then didn’t until I reset my mouse to default as well.

So many weird things show up in this code after each update.

What’s really sneaky is that this doesn’t show up in the “Known Issues” in the release notes inside the sim. I read the notes as the sim was downloading the update so I’d guess that’s the same notes.

It DOES show up in the Release Notes on Flightsimulator.com.

    Weird.

  8. I’ve only had the 1 flight in the F18, but the key is airspeed and the Flight Path Marker.

I think the directions in the landing challenge said 140 on final so I aimed for that. The cheat code is the Flight Path Marker, that little round thing in the display. THAT is what shows you where the plane is going. If it drops below the threshold then you had better re-check airspeed because you going to need more power (if you’re slow) or more elevator if you’re fast.

  9. In most cases, the only way I can produce a VFR navigable route in the World Map useable by the autopilot is enter the arrival as a waypoint short of the runway rather than the airport itself, even if the waypoint is custom. I see from other threads that using the NXi version of the G1000 requires entering the flight plan in the device rather than using the World Map.

Those TIME waypoints have really messed things up. Here is my workaround on the stock G1000:

In the plane, open up the flight plan on the PFD. It probably shows that you're current segment is from the last waypoint to your destination ( which doesn't make sense because you are still on the ground.) Use the knob to highlight CAFEN and then push to Direct To button and Activate it. The GPS will then cycle through your waypoints as you expected.
