  1. Exactly...everyone is acting like VR is suddenly going to stop improving. In the 80s these are the same people who were saying computers would fail...the internet wouldn't catch on...online shopping would never happen etc...
  2. Restriceted view??? What are you talking about...you have a 360 degree view...what do you want see into another dimension? It has happened and it is happening. In case you haven't heard, MSFT 2020 is implementing it into the sim. Aerosoft, DCS, and flyinside have amazing VR sims RIGHT NOW. It would not surprise me if pretty soon all gaming will move to VR...sure they will still support monitors for awhile until eventually phasing them out entirely.
  3. I should mention that I was just as hyped about trackir when it came out. You don't have to hate VR just because you like Trackir. I have an atari retro console connected to my tv. I can still appreciate those games back in the 80's. It's kind of cool to see the evolution. TRackir was part of the evolution to VR.
  4. Actually you have what is called a gaurdian set up where you draw in the play area and will get a warning when you get close to the boarders. I didn't mention it for flight sim because you seated.
  5. It easily can be with YAW VR. That was my point. With VR you CAN have a full motion, full view simulator for a fraction of the price and time it would take to actually build one...AND you get it for every plane you fly...not just one. Win. Win. :)
  6. I think we are going to get our own VR forum...so all the VR posts can be moved there.
  7. I couldn't agree more. Since MSFT2020 is implementing VR it is time to have our own forum. Once it gets released it would be nice to have a place to come and share ideas and experiences...tweaking etc with other VR simmers since our needs will be different than non VR simmers.
  8. My VR specs: Processor Intel® Core™ i9-9900K Processor (8x 3.60GHz/16MB L3 Cache) Processor Cooling iBUYPOWER 120mm Addressable RGB Liquid Cooling System - Black Memory 32GB (16GB x 2) DDR4 3200MHz CORSAIR Vengeance LPX Video Card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti - 11GB GDDR6 - MSI VENTUS OC (VR-Ready) Storage 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD There seem to be a lot of members here who are mis-informed about VR. Here is a Q&A to answer some of the questions I keep getting. 1. Is it the same as TRackIR? NO! TrackIR is still flying with monitors...all it does is enable hands free hat switching and zooming. 2. Is it uncomfortable? No. I find it more comfortable than wearing a trackIR because I'm free to move my head around like in the real world, versus muted movements wearing trackir. I also don't have to continuously reset my view like I did in trackir. 3. Do you get dizzy? No. I do not get any dizzy feeling while flying...probably no more that if I were flying a real plane. I found that if the game is really "arcadie" I feel the affects more. For instance I could not handle the Dinosaur rollercoaster on the quest, and found Wings a bit more dizzying. No problem with real simulators. 4. Is it expensive? No. I spent way more money time building my home cockpit. 5. Is it complicated? No. It has been pretty much "set it and forget it" for me. 6. Can you fly ifr? Yes. I can do everything I can do in a non-VR setting. 7. Do you need an expensive system? No. I believe most computers being built today are VR ready...so its just a question of how much you want to spend as with any upgrade. 8. Can you wear prescription glasses in VR? Yes there is an adapter. 9. What is the resolution in VR? List of VR resolutions by device 10. Is it the future of gaming/simming? No doubt in my mind. Definitely the future of simming for me. I could never go back to non-VR flying. There is just no comparison, and you can try explaining to people what they are missing out on, but until they try VR they will never know.
  9. Oh btw VR already does work with flight sin...actually flying is perfectly suited for VR. Eventually you won't have a choice as I expect monitor gaming will be phased out.
  10. Maybe decade or so ago. VR is a completely immersive experience. Trackir wasn't about immersion...it was a simple tweak to have a hands free hatswitch. But anyway clearly you have never tried VR and that's too bad for you. You are the one missing out not me.
  11. Ya that's great if someone has the time and resources and space and know how to build a replica. But it would have to be an exact replica to be more realistic than VR. AND even then you would only be flying the one plane. Granted I do most of my flying in GA but I do like to switch them around. Also, think about all the maintenance. VR (with YawVR) enables every simmer to have a full motion replica of EVERY plane in his house.
  12. Nobody is saying VR replaces actual flight class lol...but VR will compliment flight class quite nicely. More so than a home cockpit, or trackir obviously. VR is the next best thing to the real thing. Some simmers have realized that...others will eventually when their systems catch up with VR.
  13. Msfs2020 is coming out with VR so it is relevant discussion. The simming community backlash was the reason...so apparently this forum doesn't represent the simming community anymore.
  14. There is a reason that there are only a few posts a day in the msfs2020 forum....it's because the majority of simmers now are moving towards VR and want to discuss VR...but apparently that is taboo around here. The post was about the full motion VR simulator called YAW VR
  15. No need to wait...get the GTX 2080 ti. GTX cards have always performed well with flight simulator versions.
  16. Oh me too....I imagine they are wanting hand tracking so you can turn knobs etc for navigating without needing the controllers. VR in 2020 will be as close to the real thing as you can get.
  17. Where are the VR forums??? There seems to be some anti VR movement by simmers who basically have never tried it. If you have tried it then you would NEVER go back to monitor flying unless you have a full motion simulator with 360 degree view. Even then VR wins because you can fly ANY plane not just ONE. THIS was my old sim: https://photos.app.goo.gl/UeNHXVuC2P4JBRXT6 I shelved it as soon as I tried VR...it was such an improvement that I was willing to give up IFR flying for virtual VR...but then I realized I can fly IFR in VR just like before. Win win! Anyway would like to see a VR forum opened for MS 2020 because I have ZERO interest flying NON-VR anymore.
