  1. I would say this "micro lag", as I call it is the single biggest problem on msfs now. If the display is totally smooth, you think you are really flying, but these small lags bring you back to reality. The big difference between fsx and msfs, is that the latter constantly needs data from the internet. If the internet lags, the sim may lag. When a computer is playing a video, it can buffer the frames, and be totally smooth. But since the sim is real time, dependent on user inputs, it can't be buffered. It would be good if there was some indicator, in performance meters, that told you the sim isn't getting the internet data it needs. Sometimes you can see, the scenery in the distance, is filling in more slowly.
  2. Are you flying in the areas around the UK with the upgraded locations and scenery, or other places? I could see if it was chewing on the greater detail that would increase the graphics usage. If you are in other areas then it suggests other parts of the sim were upgraded. I did not see where they were saying the main sim engine got changes.

No, I was flying in the United States. I haven't tried UK since the update.

  3. For me the sim is running good after the UK update. It seems to be very smooth, not perfect, but close. I haven't changed any settings. But I checked my system performance, and my gpu is now being used at 100%. Before the update, it was only being used at 80%. My CPU usage is 24%. I have a 2070 and a Intel 10980.

I guess this also means, that gpu is a lot more important, for the sim than, CPU.

I'm wondering, if anyone else has noticed a increase in gpu usage, after the update?

  4. A really cool aspect of KSEZ-Sedona, Arizona, is that one of the most gorgeous hiking trails anywhere consists of a complete circumference around the airport. It's perched up on top of a plateau so you can imagine what the views are like. What this means to me: I can burn some calories, and nerd out by walking in to the real airport for the first time in my life. Since I've been flying from the MSFS airport frequently, it was pretty surreal walking around it IRL. MSFS featured KSEZ as one of its enhanced airports, so they hand-crafted it to look real. I definitely recognized it.

I didn't want to creep out people inside by taking random photos of the interior, so instead I was content with taking a picture of a picture. This was a panoramic shot hanging up on a wall:

Related point: there's a gentleman in England who will hand-craft a livery for you for 10 bucks (USD). Below is his creation for me, which I am totally in love with (pictured near KSEZ as well). Link to contact him below the picture.

His name is Jon and you can reach him here: https://flightsim.to/profile/ThatLiveryGuy

Finally, today is another big IRL milestone for me because I can officially call myself a student pilot. I signed up for ground school, through an online program. I intend to finish the online course and pass the written test, before moving on to in-person flight school. Funny enough, in the first 4 hours of coursework I have gone through so far, it's all material that I am already very familiar with because of MSFS and previous sims. I know that will change very soon but MSFS has clearly given me a leg up in understanding some basic concepts.

Why don't you tell us about your whole life! Just kidding.

  5. Hi all, newcomer here from KCLE.

Bought and downloaded MSFS 2020 the other day and started to put it through its paces. Found out there was no built-in profile for my MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick but could manually assign the buttons its axis controls.

The problem, however, is that the in-game response to my joystick maneuvering is overwhelmingly exaggerated and by no means realistic in the least. I've tried toying around with the sensitivity and reactivity settings, all to no avail. This is sadly making the game unplayable for me, unless I pony up for a new joystick (been eyeing Thrustmaster T16000M), but I don't even know if that will work either?

Anybody else running into similar issues? Particularly with the FFB2 joystick?

I'm using a gamesir gamepad with analog sticks, and I have the same problem. No matter how I calibrate them, or adjust the sensitivities, they're way to sensitive.

  6. In my opinion having used msfs2020 for six months it is quite simply a load of rubbish.Updates all they do is give with one hand and take with the other.2020 is not a training simulator it is supposed to be for entertainment which it is not.My biggest regret is deleting FSX and all its addons to release resources after all if 2020 is only half as good as its predecessors what not to like. There is only one redeeming feature and that is vfr and that is not enough.I have not listed the several problems I have, just given up.

But don't you think the photoreal scenery is a big improvement from fsx?

  7. When I try to program the FMC on any aircraft A320/747 I input the Airport Code, for example EGLL and nothing populates, it just keeps the 4 dashes, I have tried removing and re-adding the aircraft and still no joy. The same issue on RTE1 Origin and destination.

    Any help appreciated

You have to click the button of the thing you want the code applied to, like arv, dep or waypoint.

  8. This morning I went to start a flight and something is not right. I am getting messages saying no internet connection, but I have internet. Also I am seeing message that says ...Packages out of date.... but they are not. Also some of my settings have been changed, and mostly I can not make a flight. Is there a problem with STEAM this morning?

I got the exact same messages tonight. I also have steam. I just exited the sim, and restarted it, and it worked fine.
