  1. Did you first go into FSX and remove it from the Scenery Library? Now, FSX doesn't know it exists. I'd then go to Control Panel and see if it's listed as an installed program and uninstall it from there. If it isn't listed, go back into File Explorer and delete the files.
  2. I doubt he/she was too bored. Checking the winds, fuel log, trying to reach someone on the radio for position reports, rearranging the 'plumbing' on the extra fuel bladders installed for the flight, etc.... Once, I was the Copilot on a 767 flying MIA-MAD. There was a single engine Cessna flying from Newfoundland to the Azores who was having trouble with his Loran (this was 30 years ago) and had been dead-reckoning for a few hours and couldn't make contact with Santa Maria radio. He called out on Freq 123.45, found us and we relayed to Santa Maria on HF for him. He found an island in the Azores but not the one he wanted. However, he now knew where he was for certain and found his destination. Fast forward two days and we're flying MAD-DFW. There he was, on his way to Portugal.
  3. The pic was taken at the DCA, commuter terminal, June, '83. The only reason I remember that speed is because one windy afternoon, we were landing on 33. A friend (a Pilot) was in the jumpseat with his Super 8 camera with sound. I hear my voice restate the ref speed at about 500 feet or so. PS...At the time I was 'triple qualified' , B99, SD330, DH7. Too many types!
  4. Great plane, nice pics! I logged 800 hours in the right seat with Allegheny Commuter/Piedmont Regional. It could do almost everything. (the Twin Otter can do anything, which I flew for another airline ) At the time, the DH7 was our only aircraft type with an autopilot. Landing reference speed with full flaps was typically a mere 65 knots. We only used that when we landed at DCA on runway 33 to hold short of 36. (old runway numbering, Captain's landing only) When the aircraft is available for MSFS, I'll buy it.
  5. Close...Sky King had a Cessna 320, basically a stretched 310. Before my time, he had a Cessna "Bamboo Bomber".
  6. I can open my "Microsoft Flight Simulator" folder, then "Contents", find a file named "Flight Simulator" (it's an application, not an exe), right-click on the file and select "create shortcut". The new file will be displayed just above the Flight Simulator file. Click and drag the shortcut to your desktop.
  7. Thank heaven for the experts on this forum. I'm not one of them but is your 'gauges' folder still in your main FSX (root) directory? As for the Otter, some aircraft have a gauge folder within their aircraft folder.
  8. Thanks very much for the good advice. It's not a fuel imbalance. Steve, I'll check my keyboard bindings. Also, that VelocityOne yoke/throttle combo might be what I need instead of going the Honeycomb route. We'll see...
  9. I recently bought/installed MSFS and to my surprise/delight, the whole process was pain-free, mostly. My only problem is that BOTH jets and props want to bank left. I can counteract with opposite aileron or rudder input but it takes a lot of input. I have an older CH yoke (15 y/o), rudder and throttle quadrant and I programmed them for the new sim without problem. I calibrated the yoke and it works fine in FSX (I'm never giving up my FSX...) Flight controls are set to 'modern'. I tried 'legacy' and turned off torque and p-factor, no help, so I went back to modern. Maybe it's simply time for a new yoke and I'm itching to pull out the credit card and upgrade to Honeycomb, but I figured I'd see if y'all had any suggestions...
  10. Be careful, Peer01. Forty years ago when I lived there, 'Guido' and his buddies would "take you out to the desert" late some night for those transgressions (along with card counting).
  11. FYI, an option for the C150 (don't know if the '152 had this) was a child's seat in the baggage area. I rode with a friend and his father in one. My buddy and I were only twelve or so so I THINK we MAY have been under max gross weight. However, that was one crowded little Cessna!
  12. Gilligan's Island?? :-) You have to be of a 'certain age' to understand my reference...
  13. I've been following these posts for almost a year now and have now bought a system that can run 2020. I decided to double down on my financial commitment to FSX and I'm a very happy man at this point. It's a rather personal choice for everyone, I think. There's plenty of room on the SSD if and when I change my mind.
  14. I appreciate your post. I recently bought a new CPU and monitor that will run MSFS. For now, I installed my old FSX and favorite aircraft and scenery. It runs like a Ferrari. I've been following the 2020 forum for several months. Most posts include the words " hope", "think", "should" and "ought to", among others. Maybe in about a year, when the use of those words diminish on this forum, I'll buy the DVDs, only if the bazillion patches are included in the package...Sorry
  15. My thinking is that the vast majority of the flying public can only recognize two different aircraft types, the 747 and all the others. (OK, maybe the 380, too) They certainly can't tell the difference between a MAX and a good old -800. Thanks to the media, if a toilet refuses to flush on a MAX, it will be 'breaking news', at least for a few months.
  16. Yes my son, there were computers in 1955 but they were the size of my living room.
  17. You made me run that through Google Translate...I may have said something like that on an ill fated trip to France!
  18. Don't worry, given those winds, you won't be flying the same route back. You'll be further north, out of the jetstream. If you were to fly LHR- SEA, or YVR or even ANC, you would probably get to see what Greenland looks like in the new sim!
  19. With the new sim, do you HAVE to be connected online? Let's assume I'm not using real-time weather or ATC, no multipilot. After installation (DVDs) I'd already have 100+ gigs on the SSD. My connection speed isn't the fastest and as it is, I'll need a new PC...Thanks
  20. I agree with Kapitan to a point. I'm a child of two worlds. My first 20 years were flown with the 'steam' gauges and then some more when I made MD80 Captain. When I retired off the 767, I was proficient with it's flight management computer. The knowledge I lack is everything that happened with avionics in the G/A world during my airline years. Here's what I'm going to do when I replace my eight year old computer...Install 2020 AND FSX. Then, when I want to fly that 707 around the patch, I can do so.
  21. Looks very good! As for the Weather Channel, I gave up on them years ago. They're in it for the ratings and very rarely cover anything west of Denver.
  22. I heard some unusually loud rock today (at least by Southern Utah standards) today while outside doing yardwork. It's just people trying to cope...And we aren't even under a mandatory lockdown of sorts (yet).
