  1. David,

These are absolutely fantastic video tutorials. Thank you. Very well done and it shows just how complicated setting up controls in new sim will be. So there is a learning curve. But these videos makes it much easier to accept that fact, and gives us (new) hope that we CAN successfully do the setups on the controllers. My Motto: Touch everything - change everything - go everywhere - FIRE IT IN! Thanks again.

  2. You can 'Select Engine' with 'E+X' (with 'X' being 1, 2, 3, 4). Then whatever 'action' you do applies to THAT engine only. For example you could do 'E+2', then do 'Ctrl+Shift+F1' and shut off Engine 2 (while 1 and 3 would remain ON). When you decide to re-start Engine 2 then you do 'E+2' then 'Ctrl+E'. If so, then you should also do selective throttle change(s) with F2 (decrease) and F3 (increase)? I guess.

Not sure if you could reduce throttle/power on that one engine only because I did not try it. But it may be possible.

When you want any 'action' to apply to ALL engines you then do 'E+1,2,3,4' (Hold E and press 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 in quick sucession). You are back to 'normal'.

  3. I don't know if anyone on this thread ever read my posts concerning throttle control of Sidewinder Precision 2. I keep putting it out there, that perhaps the throttle 'problem' will be solved. My joy throttle slider is JAMMED with a plastic wedge at '0' throttle using calibration screen. Then I plub in a Targus 10 keypad and set it to left of keyboard. I map throttle keys, F1 thru F4, on it. No more 'issues' with throttle. Here it is again.

  4. Being there...Done that. F1HO (Hockenheim - by Dirk Stuck) can also be used in FSX but you have to move 'Auto Gen' slider to '0' or you will get trees on the race track. The LeMans race track (by O.K. Daley) is for FSX only.

  5. At this site there are tips concerning FSX, SE, Win 10, SimConnect, etc, that are cocise and should help answer any/all questions. Link: https://windowsreport.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-x-windows-10/ .

Highlight and copy then paste into Notepad and print out plus keep handy.

Edit: There is a 'Download PDF' link which will PRINT OUT (not SAVE).... so have printer loaded with paper (10 pages+) as it will take off on it's own. It prints graphics and all so this beats copy/paste to notepad (ie: no graphics). The info was updated in 2019 so it's current.

  6. Well I am glad you got your wish. I downloaded the Wal but it was 7zip and my WinZip would not extract the files so I gave up (I am kind of busy with 'Real Life' stuff right now). Glad to hear Guenter Kirschstein helped you with the FDEs that made the Wal flyable. Don't worry, I don't need the Wal. I have 1,000 other (FS9 and FSX) air boats already (hehe).

As far a using as Ai I suspect that it not being able to turn on water or land MIGHT have made it unuseable as AI. The cnt pts that I made gave it steering on water and land. Not sure if that makes a difference when used as AI as I do not 'DO' AI. Look at lines for floats to see how you can add steering on water. Also compare the compression values for floats as mine work perfect (not bragging) every time. Have a nice RTW trip.

  7. Quote: ''stay safe. Worrying about unknowns like a virus won't help you. Simply wear a mask, avoid close contacts for a while. You can't do much more, and worrying about unknowns would just drive you up the wall anyway. Take care of yourself. Food, hygene, call people. Those things are good to keep your spirits up. Well thanks for the Hug. Hi5. But you forgot to include exercise and sleep. Walking is very good. Cheers.

  8. Bernard,

These models can be from FS2002 and I don't have them. Mr Pook updates these types sometimes but are hard to find. So if you can direct me to the MODEL you want (ie: sometimes they are same name but can have 1 engine, 2 engines, 3 engines, etc) I can take a look at the dynamics, cnt pts, etc for you. Base model is best (paints such as 'Greenland') FOR THAT MODEL is irrelevant (to me). Cheers.

PS: On the cfg I provided: the panel name is 'hjaFI' (I forgot to change name). Sorry about that. I use a panel that I am familiar with and that way I don't have to 'learn', or 'put up with', the provided panel which sometimes are lacking gauges, etc.

  9. Here is modified aircraft cfg with new contact points (gear and floats). No edits to air file. Enjoy

  10. Have a look at what I have been using for 10 years and love how it allows for small changes in power (ie: for helicopter flying). You have to get a piece of plastic and wedge the throttle slider on the joystick at '0', which you set using calibration screen. You go to assignments and set the keypad keys as you want. You can use what I use for starters. You can always change assignments. From then on the keypad throttle is all you need to use (but the F1 thru F4 on keyboard are still available and active). The Targus keypad is around $15 at Amazon. I got one last week at Goodwill for $3.99 and it works perfect. Looked hardly used and like new. Have a good one.

  11. You just joined FSCom so you are probably going to Sim a long time in the future. That problem you have will still be there in 10 years. And a throttle quadrant has it's quirks too. Have a look at what I have been using for 10 years and love how it allows for small changes in power (ie: for helicopter flying). You have to get a piece of plastic and wedge the throttle slider on the joystick at '0', which you set using calibration screen. You go to assignments and set the keypad keys as you want. 12. For FS2004 you press 'S' key to 'Cycle Views' (all). 'Shift + S' to cycle backwards. You press Keypad '0' (Ins) to 'Snap To Panel View'. You press 'W' key to 'Toggle Panel'. You press 'Control + W' to toggle 'Chase' (view). You can use the keypad to view in all directions (in the view you are in) and '5' to 'Look Down'. And 'Control + 5' to 'Look Up'. Have fun.

    Chuck B

    Napamule

Edit: You can map (in 'Assignments') the key press to a joystick button(s) for convienience.

  13. What is 'real' is that you MUST have Windows 10 to use the upcoming FS2020. And, as we all know, Windows 10 tracks ALL your 'behavior' (and 'farms' every bit of personal information on your PC) no matter which Sim you use. I use Windows 7 Pro and will ONLY have FS9 and FSX Accel and NOT FS2020 ($100) even if it's FREE. They got you worried about FRAMES to distract you from what they are doing.

    Chuck B

  14. If you go back to download (ie: restart your browser and go to FSCom download) your browser SHOULD realize the download did not finish and take up where it left off. Works for Mozilla, etc. Not sure if so with Internet Explorer. I use Commodo Ice Dragon (a version of FireFox) and it will do that for me. Good luck.

    Chuck B

  15. There are 2 Targus with same model number but one is thicker than the other. Get the skinny one as the thicker one will be too high to work with. The skinny one sits just right for palm on desktop and fingers reach easier. You will also not have to 'look' at keypad once you use it a few times. The keypad is USB with plub-n-play (no drivers required). I unplug mine when I finish simming. When I plug in Windows sounds a notice it 'recognized' it and when I touch the joystick the throttle goes full (F4) so I know to be ready to push F1 (cut). That is the only 'issue' (if you can call it that) I have with it. I also drive fast race cars (400 mph+) and use the spoiler to slow for 60 mph curves. Couldn't drive without this keypad.

Also helicopter require smooth, small changes, to do hover, etc so the tap of throttle key is 100% more accurate than a sliding throttle, with or without 'detents'. You will also find that 3 taps of F3 (increase) is NOT equal to 3 taps of F2 (decrease) as far as result of precentage of power is concerned (a Sim anomaly and not a keypad anomaly). Minor glitch you might not even detect or notice. But it's there.
