  1. Well, I´m here since SubLOGIC Flight Simulator II running on a Commodore 64. I´ve seen many of the versions being launched 2 years after each other. FS98 came just one year after FS for Windows 95. And most of them did not have any backward compatibility. Microsoft announced most of DLC should work in FS24. So for me it´s not the case they lied when mention they´ll be here for 10 years. It´s seems this is a contract period between Asobo and Microsoft. They´re there to support Flight Fimulator franchise. This does not mean there won´t be new versions. Four years separation seems ok to me. The point that MSFS is unfinished may not be a valid argument. Most of the versions through the time have shown versions with many unsolved problems. Here is my 2 cents: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is not a brand new sim nor have significant changes compared to MSFS. They just put togheter a career mode with eye candy features ( Neofly already did it ) and wrapped this ans a couple of upgrades in graphics as a new version. It´s a business. And there´s the way to collect money from the existing client base. Asobo is saying they are supporting MSFS with roadmaps, city updates, world updates and avionics and this a proof that FS24 is not significantly different. So, it´s an update with a preice tage of a new sim. FS24 may address some of the unfinished touches MSFS was supposed to have some point down the road. That would be another reason to force people migrate versions. I´m not surprised with this announcement at all. Pure Deja Vu. Cheers Henrique
  2. I flew a couple of planes without doing anything on the sensitivity adjustments to get a sense on what Asobo thinks the experience should be. Well, so far C152, Cirrus SR22, JMB VL3 and the Vírus SW121 seem a way better than before. I’ve even removed the mods I was using before the patch. But ok I need more testing but here it looks like things improved a bit. Also, reflections improved a lot. Water is better but, IMHO, it is still not on par with the textures from original version. I liked a lot the TXAA anti-alias setting. Got rid of sharp/blinking textures. And at night, textures lighting is better but seems heavier too.
  3. Once again the patch is overwriting the vegetation species file. No mention from Microsoft in the Patch Notes with this respect. So, trees will be oversized again after the patch. I´ll give my two cents. They do not mention but they have started to cramp the simulator in order to provide more performance. Trees texture seems, at least for me, way worst than the original release. It seems a simpler texture. ALso please check the water textures. It is also cramped down and a little grainy. And the most obvious downgrade is in LOD parameters. No matter if it is in High or Ultra, LOD is now lower to say the least. For the trees fix, please reinstall the file and we´re back to the fight with Microsoft patches.
  4. MSFS states for the Microsoft Flight Simulator launched in August, 2020. Abbreviation is following Flightsim.com Libraries naming. Mr Jeffrey C, thank you for the comment. I%u00B4ve sent Mr Anderson an updated readme with correct path for Steam. My version came from windows store.
  5. There´s a one day delay from uploading to showing up on library.
  6. The vegetation file was modified by Matheus. I’ll ask him to upload it to Flightsim.com
  7. Vegetation seems way off in terms of size. Based on what I’ve seen, trees are 3 to 4 times higher than it should. Look how strange they are in the Sugar Loaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro. One way to confirm oversized trees is to compare the trees that are close to buildings and there is a lot of trees that reach the equivalent to a 7 or 8 store building. And here is the workaround: There is XML file for different species of vegetation in \fs-base\vegetation directory. You can fix the parameters to reduce the tree size. You can change all vegetation or just specific bioma types like Connifer, Tropical, Jungle, Semi Tropical and like. I’ve been to Amazon jungle a couple times and I can tell that even there the vegetation is wrong. Now with the fixed XML file is much much better. Sugar Loaf fixed. Credits to Matheus Molinari.
