  1. I like these, though my poor, tired, creaky old joystick needs a 10 or 15 percent dead zone - kinda like old cars were back in the 60s and 70s, whole bunch of slack in the steering wheel, just had to compensate for it.
  2. some of the faster planes seem fine. My problems seem to be with the 172 and similar planes. After calibrating controllers and adjusting in game sensitivities, I find it necessary to find the aircraft config file, then reduce elevator and elevator trim effectiveness by a half to two thirds. The path to the aircraft config file varies depending on installation. Mine is users-user name-app data-roaming-microsoft flight sim-packages-official-steam-asorbo aircraft-sim objects-airplanes-click on the plane you want to modify-then sim objects-airplanes-the airplane file - then open the flight model config file. I just use wordpad for this.
  3. the new update made the planes unflyable for me. First step, adjust the sensitivities in game, helps a bit. Then have to go into each plane's config files individually and fix what microsoft "fixed," some of their "fixes" were anything from hilarious to horrendous this time. I suppose I should have isolated the planes before doing the update, will certainly do so next time. So far I've got the 172 flying decently again, probably do the three or four others I use regularly one at a time. (I'm not gonna detail the config fixes unless anyone wants them. It's a pain in the ass process).
  4. thanks so much (actually I found it myself just after posting this, though hope your answer helps other.)
  5. the oct 13 patch removed all the erroneous 10 story buildings. A day later, they're all back. Anyone know why?
  6. I don't pay much attention to frames long as the sim's fluid and fairly full motion, but the temps seem to be much better since the patch, maybe less strain on cpu and gpu. No longer have to run my cooling at a hundred fifty percent.
  7. so far I've only done asobo - aircraft - flightdesignct. Once there go to simobjects - airplanes - asobo flightdesingct - then open the file - flight model. I just use notepad for this. Then scroll down to the heading - flight tuning. The variables here are similar to past flight sims. I set elevator_effectiveness to .5. This does change aerodynamics, so you might want to adjust elevator trim effectiveness up a bit. And if you're into aerobatics, probably best to leave it alone since you obviously want full elevator effectiveness.
  8. like every flight sim I've ever used, the elevator sensitivity seems way off. Adjusting it in game doesn't help. You have to go into the aircraft config file and adjust it manually, usually reducing by a half to two thirds. Once done, the aircraft lifts off smoothly and lands without all that jerking motion. It's a god awful path this time to the aircraft config files, however. For steam it's - users, user name, app data, roaming, microsoft flight simulator, packages, official, steam, asobo aircraft, sim objects, airplanes
