  1. Just recently started popping up. I can hit NO and everything SEEMS to function normally. I just don't understand what I have done.
  2. "skipped the beta part" guilty! "Remember that you are always able to opt out of the beta branch and return to the normal branch at any time" Thank goodness!
  3. Yep. I got excited and ran in without checking it out. I trusted that it had been checked. Won't do that again! Deactivated all my added sceneries and Ultimate Terrain and GEX. Added em all back one at a time and Mobile Bay has filled back up. Seems back to normal. More test flights will be done tomorrow to ensure that everything still works.
  4. And it gets weirder. Went back to the normal files, but it seems that there has been massive climate change on FlightSim World. Taking off over Mobile Bay and the bay is gone. There is no bay, no Gulf, no lakes, no rivers. I validated the Steam files and restarted. Nuthin! Restarted the computer. Nuthin! What can cause all water to disappear?
  5. Live weather is back, and actually accurate. EDIT: and it crashes to desktop. Probably my security settings, but "aint nobody got no time for that!".. back to what works
  6. I have always set it to 14 or 84 since I got this computer. It's a Core I7 7700HQ in an HP Omen laptop with a GTX 1050TI. I have never even seen a setting of 4095 before and kind of figured it had to be a setting that the card wouldn't read and it would just go with it's default. I'll admit to having a rum & Coke or three while falling down a YouTube rabbit hole and finding that video. After changing a bunch of stuff and checking for stability, I ended up taking a 3.6 hour flight in the Carenado 172. No blurries, no stuttering, no glitches, no crashes. It seems to be just a happy coincidence and I don't think I will ever touch it again. It's running absolutely perfectly now. I mean, I thought it was before, but it's even better now.
  7. While flying long cross countries I like to look around at the traffic around me. Call me weird, but I enjoy seeing airlines that haven't existed since my childhood. Anywho, when I switch back to my cockpit view, the ground textures around me go completely blurry. I'm guessing this is what everybody is talking about when they mention "the blurries". This has only happened in the last few months and I have no clue what caused the change. I started following different threads down their various rabbit holes looking for an answer and nothing worked...... until I found a YouTube video that suggested changing AffinityMask to 4095. Low and behold it worked! Now, can anybody explain to me why it works? My AM has been 14,84, and 220 for several years and I never had the blurry problem until lately. Until tonight, I've never even seen anybody suggest changing it to 4095.
  8. My mileage obviously varies then. And to be honest, I always hated HP computers until I bought the Omen. It hasn't choked yet and the only problems I had with it were my own fault. My HP printer, on the other hand, is pure garbage.. So I use the wife's printer (whatever it is... I forget)
  9. Captain? Take a look at the HP Omen series of laptops. I'm running a 2017 model with an Nvidia 1050 card and several add ons and Steve's DX-10 fixer with nearly maxed out graphics. I had FPS limited to 30 but disabled that just for kicks and I'm getting between 25-65 FPS on average. No cooling problems and no OOM's. PS- I will admit though, I am saving up for a balls out desktop to run the new sim when it comes out.
  10. There are always procedures to follow in any aircraft, but the list is a lot longer for commercial planes. If you're flying something like a 172, there will still be a small section of the Pilot's Operating Handbook to follow. Makes it a lot harder as a single pilot though. In flight training you practice emergencies, for example: power on/off stalls, engine out, electrical system out, etc. I had one instructor make me practice night landing with no lights and no flaps. Just when I got it perfect using nothing but a flashlight he reached up, turned it off and said "It's just not your day. Your batteries are dead. What're gonna do now?" I landed just fine. On the next final, he clicked the mic three times which turns off the runway lights, then asked the same question. My answer was "Throw your evil ass outta the plane!". Those 3 landings were HARD! Another instructor taught me emergency landings without electrical (and flaps!) by showing me how to sideslip and do S turns to lose altitude and get into a short field. You can also usually google a POH for the particular aircraft you're flying
  11. Solved! UTX settings had disabled roadway traffic... I figured it HAD to have something to do with UTX, but I didn't remember anything mentioning road traffic.. As a sidenote, I also discovered that Windows was going into "nightlight" mode to reduce eyestrain. This was turning all of my foliage a a brighter color of Fall like that seen up in the NorthEast! I love late night brain storms that come out of nowhere!
  12. I found em. The one in the AppData area was LWcfg.spb.bak , so I deleted the ".bak" extension to see if that was the key.. No luck. What do I need "Everything" for? And to paraphrase George Carlin, If I had everything, where would I keep it? LOL
  13. My highway traffic has disappeared. In the overall scheme of life, not a big thing, but it does leave my landscape a bit static looking. I haven't added anything to the sim that has anything to do with ground traffic, and all I've updated on the computer is my Nvidia and Bluetooth drivers. I even set vehicle volume to 100% to see if that would work.. Nothing. All of my air traffic is still there and scenery and autogen is set to the densest settings possible just to see if that was the cause. I validated my installation files using the Steam app and still no traffic jams. I'm just a bit perplexed.
  14. Tried it all. No luck. guess I'll just take a long cross-country up to Vermont and enjoy it there. That's a looooooong ride from Key West (my current stopover point) in a 172!
  15. I'm running with GEx and UTx, but I noticed this "problem" long ago, even in stock config. The Fall foliage is stunning, except for one thing. I live on the Gulf Coast in Mobile, Alabama and we don't have Fall colors except for a couple of weeks right around Thanksgiving. Is there any file I can change or download to postpone the color change until the appropriate time that would only apply to the warmer, coastal areas? There's got to be something that'll do the job. The area around Mobile looks like Vermont with a few palm trees sprinkled around!
  16. In the words of Charlie Brown kicking the football... "AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHY!" Well, I'll update again next year I guess...
  17. I thought the Nvidia settings would be reset so I saved a profile, and even went so far as to write down my settings, but they're exactly the same. I haven't changed color settings or anything either. I may fool around with settings this weekend to see how far I can push it, or I may just fly and be happy. It's funny that flightsim has turned into two hobbies..Flying AND tweaking.
  18. I didn't get any extra FPS, at least not that I've seen. I run locked at 31. Just runs smoother and like I said, the image seems more real. Don't upgrade if you don't want to. Just sharing what I noticed.
  19. I've avoided changing drivers for a loooooooooong time. I figured "it's working great, don't putz with it.". In a moment of weakness, I hit the button. I can't complain about the results.

  21. Just wanted to see what the general consensus was from anybody who has updated to Nvidia Driver 436.02. I went ahead yesterday and installed it and it seems to have changed my shaders a bit and things seem to run even a bit more smoothly. I'm flying an Hp Omen laptop with DX10 and Steve's Dx 10 Fixer, Ultimate Terrain, and GeX also. Most sliders are set to max or very dense. I have frames set to 31FPS in the sim and I'm running right around that with no problems. The only thing I have noticed is that runways get a broken, jagged appearance for just a second as I pan my viewpoint. The big thing is that there's something different about the way the screen looks. I can't even begin to describe it other than "smooth" and almost what the eye would see in real life. It's really nice actually.
  22. Oh that's nice! Thanks Ian! I just landed at Tri-Cities Regional and realized how close I am to Ashville NC. I think I'll start my next leg to there tomorrow.
  23. Ok! I'm a believer! Plan G is the bomb! The moving map feature could spoil me! The map synced up perfectly with Ultimate Terrain X and shows roads and rivers right where they are outside. After getting used to it a bit, it's a breeze to operate.
  24. I fly single engine GA pretty much only, so your mileage may vary. 1) not assigned... it was but I changed it because I kept squeezing it 2) Cycle exterior views 3) Nose up trim 4) nose down trim 5) Flaps up incrementally 6) Flaps down incrementally 7) ATC window 8) Bring up the map 9) Mixture rich slowly 10) Mixture lean slowly 11) I actually have touched this one 12) or this one! Axis mode is green I also have CH Pedals
  25. I get the same results as Darren when I surf it on my iPad.. Haven't noticed it on the computer though (yet)
