  1. Thanks Steve for the suggestion. I had trouble uninstalling MS Store. Can you point me to exactly where to go to do that? And, where to go to re-install it?... Lee Graves
  2. What HAJOREI posted to open this thread pretty well describes my experience. About a week ago, for no apparent reason, MSFS shut down about 1 minute into the loading process. I tried and tried, but could not get it to finish loading--it always shut down after going into the "black screen" at the beginning of loading...I spent a lot of time searcing for answers--the forums, web, etc. Nothing got MSFS to fully start. I finally uninstalled the program and tried to get a new installation at the MS Store. They put me in a loop that basically would not let the new install work. I called the MS Support phone number and a technician took over my computer and could do no better through the MS Store. He said he discovered that the XBox support team was working on the problem and that many MSFS users were reporting the same thing I was: MSFS suddendly stopped working and they were unable to get a re-install through the MS Store. The tech said the XBox team told him they expected to have the problem solved within 5-6 days. That time has passed and I still cannot get a convincing re-install through the MS Store...Really frustrating!... The best I can do through the Store is to get a MSFS logo on my screen, a progress line below it, and the word "Downloading" above it. Hours pass, but no downloading shows on the progress line and I can find nothing downloaded on my computer. It says it is downloading, but I can find no evidence of it... That's where I'm at now...I'm really pretty much out of ideas of how to get a REAL re-install from the MS Store...I left that MSFS logo and "Downloading" progress line on for the last 2 days and nothing seems to have changed--no indication on the progress line or on my computer that any real downloading has taken place... I'm wondering what Forum users would suggest...Have any of you had a problem re-installing? Anything similar to what I have experienced?...All ideas welcomed...I miss not being able to fly the "Friendly MSFS skies"... Lee Graves
  3. Tim, this is really generous of you. The reason I couldn't find the location of those files was because no AppData file showed in my C:\User\Lee\ file. Is it hidden?... After I posted my request of you, I felt I was asking too much; but, you had already responded before I could edit/delete it. Thank you again, for taking the time to do something I should have been able to do... Leew Graves
  4. Many thanks Tim--I had trouble finding the suggested location. Could you possibly post some more World Updates Bespoke Airport names in the Forum? As you did the 5 Nordics? I can then copy and keep them...I don't know what the overall total is, so just post what you believe is reasonable...Thank you again, for the time required to do this... Lee Graves
  5. I would like to take a tour of the Bespoke airports, but I can't find exactly which ones they are. For example, in one of the World Update V: Nordics introductory screens they say the update includes "5 Bespoke Airports," but don't name them. I found a list of the 100 improved airports in the update at another site, but the 5 Bespoke ones are not specifically identified. Does anyone know where we can get the names of these special airports?...Not just the Nordics, but all of them, if possible... Thanks in advance, for all info... Lee Graves
  6. Thanks Cavulife--That was the problem...I don't how it happened, but Data option was "Off." I switched it to "On" and all is good again... Love the Forum... Lee Graves
  7. When I loaded MSFS on my computer this morning I found that Marketplace and Live WX were greyed-out and unavailable. An error message told me MSFS wasn't connected to the web... In checking around the program, however, I was still able to connect to a number of MSFS-offered links, such as Twitter, YouTube, etc. without any problem. They were available on the web, but not Marketplace and Live WX...And, for the record, I was already working sites on the web, before I loaded MSFS... Has anyone else had this problem? And, how do I get these programs back?... I hope someone can suggest a way to make them available again...Any help is much appreciated... Lee Graves
  8. Well Steve, "You hit it out of the park," as they say in baseball... Your detailed resume of what worked for you also produced a 1.17.3.0 MSFS version for me. I'm very pleased to say I, too, am now showing that number in MSFS; and, also enjoying World Update V: Nordics... Thanks for taking the time required to help me. Very much appreciated... Lee Graves
  9. Thanks Steve--Unfortunately, the Ms Store offers no MSFS Standard upgrade; only in Deluxe and Premium Deluxe, which is what I have. The message is the same for both of them: "Upgrade is currently not available."...What to do?...How did you upgrade from 1.16.2.0 to 1.17.3.0? i don't recall seeing any notification that such an upgrade was available, or I would have got it...I hope you, or someone, can suggest a way for me to get the 1.17.3.0 upgrade...Thanks again for any help... Lee Graves
  10. I cannot download the new Nordic World Update until I have upgraded MSFS to 1.17.3.0. Right now, it's at 1.16.2.0. When I go to the MS Store to upgrade the Premium Deluxe edition I get this message: "Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe upgrade is not currently available." I'm wondering, is there an alternate means of getting an upgrade to 1.17.3.0?...Any advice that will produce 1.17.3.0 will be very much appreciated...Thanks in advance... Lee Graves
  11. Thanks Tim--The Ctr+O seems to help the plane ease into auto pilot mode, after it attains some altitude. I'll keep experimenting to try and find the best sequence of events...Got any other suggestions to make takeoffs smoother?...Thanks, again... Lee Graves
  12. While climbing out on takeoff in the B787, I would very much like to hit a key that would activate LNAV, instead of having to change screens to the cockpit view and click it on manually. Call it lazy, but its nice to make those takeoffs smooth and efficient and all on the same screen...I haven't found an LNAV option on Keyboard Control, but I'm wondering if there a way to assign a key to LNAV that I have missed. Does anyone know of a way to do this?...Thanks in advance for any suggestions... Lee Graves
  13. Thanks John--I tried moving up to 150% and now I keep it there all the time. That and the reduced resolution setting have made FSX as enjoyable as ever... Lee Graves
  14. Hi Wim--I think you are correct. The easiest way to increase FSX's font size is to simply lower the Monitor resolution before starting the sim. Normally, the monitor runs at 1920 x 1280 (recommended), producing the hard-to-read font size I'm trying to boost. However, adjusting the resolution to 1280 x 720 before starting FSX makes the entire program quite readable--just what I I'm looking for...When I'm finished with FSX I simply re-set the resolution back to 1920 x 1280 and all is fine... Is there anything else I might do to improve the situation?...If not, my thanks to all who offered help...It's much appreciated... Lee Graves
  15. Thanks Mr. Zippy--I did increase the overall Win7 font size, but it had no effect on FSX. Thanks Tim--Win7 apparently doesn't offer as many Compatibility choices as Win10. The bottom three on your list did not appear to be available options. I made the available changes, but only one screen in FSX increased, and that was one starting PMDG's MD-11. It was a good try, though... When I saw the latter, I thought we had succeeded!... Can anyone think of any other steps I can take?...Thanks again, for all suggestions... Lee Graves
  16. Thanks--I did read those, but no one seemed to have a way of increasing FSX's font size. Did I miss something? Lee Graves
  17. I've been spending most of my free time for the past several months enjoying MSFS. Recently, I went back to another machine, where I have FSX installed, to see how it was working. To my surprise (and, the first time ever) the font size of the program had decreased significantly. I had to start using a magnifying glass on some of the text...I have searched everywhere I can think of, trying to find a way to bring back the original FSX text size. But, "no joy."...There were some suggestions back in 2015, but no real answer. I've tried adjusting monitor settings, increasing Win7 size through the Control Panel, and clicking on default graphic settings, but they did not affect FSX. Still, very small font size... I hope someone on the Forum can offer some suggestions as to how I can get FSX back to normal...Thanks in advance for all ideas and help... Lee Graves
  18. Thanks again, Stinger--Your suggestions were definitely helpful. Let's look at them. --Photogrammetry: About a toss-up, on or off. I'll have to try it both ways in an area with lots of big buildings--KJFK, maybe. The runway where I tried it was too flat, I realize now. --Render Scaling: I advanced it to 200 and I believe it helped smooth-out the terrain some. I'm going to continue with it at 200. --Those MSFS Videos were "spot-on." Some of the runways looked like some I have bumped-around on. I'm real glad Microsoft is aware of the problem and, I hope, working on ways to solve it. With the changes in settings you and others have suggested, plus some of my own, landings are improving. A bit more adjustment and we may finally be back to the good way things were several weeks ago. --I'd like to thank Kevin (earlier post) for taking the time to try a sample landing to see if he could duplicate my problem. He couldn't, but not for trying... --I hope Plainsman, who has helped me in the past, will check-in and give us his take on all of this. (See my earlier answers to his questions.) Many thanks again, for all ideas and suggestions... Lee
  19. May I add--this only started about 2-3 weeks ago. Before that, all was smooth, all the time... Lee
  20. I hope this helps... This is what I'm experiencing...As I get closer to a runway at the end of a ILS approach, I begin to see some mild undulations, maybe 10-15 feet apart. They are like soft, low rises in the runway. These rather wide, low ripples are smaller and farther apart and you don't notice them until very near, or coming over the threshold. After a few bumpy landings (bouncing off these "waves") I may have a smooth landing or two. "Ah, smoothness is back, " I think...Until, the next ILS approach...and a bumpy touchdown... It is virtually impossible to avoid touching down one wheel before the other on one of these waves; which bumps the plane (especially the 787--depending upon the size of the wave), before the plane rights itself to continue down the runway. These slight, uneven ripples appear to be across the surface of the terrain, not just the runways. The straight. white runway sidelines just make them more noticeable. Experimenting with various settings (including Data) has helped a great deal to smooth out the terrain and get the surface back to the way it should be; but, it's not all the way there, yet... I apologize for taking so much space. I hope you have a clearer picture of what I'm dealing with. Others may also be experiencing something similar and I hope we can totally smooth the surface of the sim for all of us... NOTE: These waves, or ripples, are in the terrain surface; just more noticeable when landing, or close to the ground... My thanks in advance for all ideas and suggestions... Lee
  21. Thanks Stinger--I've set "DELETE" in the "Delete Rolling Cache File" box. Was that what you meant?... Any other suggestions we can discuss?... ...I may not be the only one, a little "bouncy" when landing... Lee
  22. Plainsman-Thanks for stopping by. I think you are correct in looking at Data as a problem. Let me answer your questions. --My system specs: Ryzen 5 3600 processor-ASUS ROG B-550-F MB-32GB Corsair memory-GF 2060 video card-Sabrent 1TB SSD-ASUS 27" gaming monitor-ANTEC case. --I have high-speed AT&T U-verse "Internet 100" (100 Mbs?) --My MSFS 2020 readings: MSFS/OPTIONS/GENERAL/DATA/ --Current Data Consumption: 821.29MIB --Data Limit: 25GIB --Data Limitation: ON --Data Limit (GIB): 25GIB --Data Warning: 0.00GIB --Bandwidth: Unlimited --Rolling Cache: ON --Rolling Cache Limit: 25GIB --Delete Rolling Cache File: Delete With these settings, I have reduced runway ripples to very slight and spread apart, producing just a small bump on touchdown. Not completely flat and smooth, however, as in the past. Can we get the ground back in that condition? Thank you so much for trying... Lee
  23. It seems to have affected all airports. Any idea why? It wasn't there a couple of weeks ago...I read through searches that something similar occurred last October, but their suggestions didn't help me...Can you help?...Thanks... Lee
  24. MSFS 2020 is doing just fine for me and I'm enjoying it more and more. However, for the past 2 weeks or so, every ILS landing brings me to a runway that suddenly forms small ripples in it as I approach. No matter how slowly and smoothly I attempt to touch down, a smooth landing is impossible... Has anyone reading this had a similar problem, and how do I get smooth runways to return? I hope someone in the Forum can help me... Thanks in advance for all advice and suggestions... Lee Graves
  25. Tim--I went to the MSFS Foums website and signed-up, signed-in and went to the "Community: General Discussion" page, but I could not find a button asking for a "New Thread." In fact, I searched all over that website and still could not find where you post a new thread. Am I blind to the obvious, or missing something there? Did you have any problem posting a new thread?--Lee Graves
