  1. I meant to add, I'm using a PC and weather radar seems to work as well on the B787 as it does on the B747..I wonder, what other MSFS planes have the same capability?.... Lee Graves
  2. My thanks to CAVULIFE and KINGNORRIS. You both found the reason I was not getting a radar weather return. The aircraft has to be flying in either rain or a storm, before it provides a WXR return on the main panel. With one of those active, I'm seeing a continuous WXR return,,,A great job by you both... 3. I re-started a B747 flight from KPIT-KLGA and while sitting on the KPIT threshold with broken clouds in front of me, clicked-on ND Range (20 miles), TERR, and WXR (as the video did). Again, 20-mile range arcs and our location showing in magenta appeared, but no WX. After clicking-on just WXR (no TERR), nothing changed on the screen... So, I tried clicking-on just ND Range (20 miles) and WXR. Still, no change in the screen...I do not know why I am not getting a WX picture (like CAVULIFE), when seemingly doing exactly what he did...Anybody see a reason?... 4. I just completed a B747 flight (on my PC), clicked-on keys ND Range, TERR, and WXR (as per the video) and got no WX radar (as the video got). Many tries later, still no WX radar. Am I not following the video's directions? Should I be doing something else?...Any suggestions?... 5. Based on this thread's non-response, I'm wondering if ANYONE on the Forum has seen a MSFS working weather radar, on any plane? I found this question and answer on Google: Is there a weather radar layer in MSFS 2020? And, this answer (without a source): "It has been well discussed in the MSFS forums that Asobo has not yet made a weather radar layer live. It is on their workflow, I understand..." Makes me wonder how the tutorial video I found was made--it showed a working WX radar (link below). 6. Can someone help me get weather radar to work on the B787 and B747? A tutorial video I found said, click on Range, Terr, and WXR main panel buttons. That worked on the video, but not when I tried it. Can someone tell me how they get weather radar to come up on the nav data screen in those 2 airliners?...Thanks very much for all help... 7. Sorry for my early criticism...Inappropriate and unjustified... Lee Graves (Ryzen 5 3600 cpu; ASUS ROG B-550-F MB; 32 GB Corsair memory; GeForce 2060 video card; Sabrent 1 TB SSD; ASUS 27" Gaming Monitor; Updated Win 10; ANTEC case)

  10. Just a P.S. to my last post. I should have explained that the key that gave me so much enjoyment was an Iambic model, with paddles, as opposed to the traditional "single key"... Lee Graves
  11. Great to see this thread on the Forum...Three things I always wished I could do when I was growing up: Be a pilot, a ham radio operator, and fly a B-17. Luckily, I eventually earned a pilot's license and ham licenses, but never flew a real Flying Fortress. However, with MSFS, a virtual trip remains a real possibility... What got my attention about this thread is the relationship I believe exists between pilots and hams. I've always believed both are attracted by things like watching needles move about dials and spinning knobs on panels...Two of my favorite pastimes...From the responses here, I'm pleased to learn I may have some kindred spirits on the Forum... Years ago, I earned a Advance ham license, after quite a bit of earlier time spent on a (telegraphy) key. I eventually bought a Vibroplex and really enjoyed working other hams with it. I never sent very fast, but to hook up with another ham at the same moderate speed, using the Vibroplex, was like a "dance," back and forth, with your finger gently taping the paddle like "dancing to a rythm."...I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience?... 12. Thanks for the suggestions...The one that seems to have stopped the porposing is using the FLC for climb outs. I didn't realize how useful that was... But, on a different and continuing problem, I'm still getting an occasional electrical failure (all gauges stop working), usually during an approach. The overhead Electrical panel shows all switches ON, but no power is reaching the cockpit gauges. And. the APU does not function...Has anyone else experienced this and know how to correct it?...All help much appreciated... Lee Graves
  13. I'm having a problem getting my planes to climb out smoothly upon departing an airport. I'm currently flying the B-787, but it also occurs with other aircraft. After take-off, I activate LNAV, with no problem. But, activating the auto pilot causes the plane to begin porposing up and down as it heads for the flight plan route on the screen...The flight needs the auto pilot on to promptly intercept and continue on the flight route...The porposing continues for awhile, but eventually seems to go away. It seems to be connected to turning the AP on. Turning off the AP seems to stop the up-and-down motion, but the plane take much longer to intercept the flight route on the screen... There are some former Forum posts on "porposing aircraft," but not much offered to stop it... Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know a way to stop it?...All suggestions and ideas greatly welcomed... 14. One of Captain Sullenberger's first acts, after the two-engine bird strike over the Hudson River. It restored the radio, instruments, and cabin lights... Lee Gtaves
  15. The APU, as I understand it, is normally turned off as soon as the engines are up and running. I believe confirming an off APU is part of most (if not all) "Before Take-off" check lists. I wasn't sure it would turn on in-flight (and re-charge the batteries)...As soon as I saw electrical power had been restored, I turned it off and everything continued operating normally...Imagine the relief of the crew if this were an actual in-flight occurrence.. Lee Graves
  16. Yes, thanks Tim...It occurred to me also, to try getting the APU running to re-charge the batteries. As soon as I turned it on, the Battery ON light switched to blank and back to ON...This time, however. it really was ON and the instrument panel came alive, as well as ATC...And, thanks Herc79, for confirming another way to use the APU...Love this forum... Lee Graves
  17. Thanks Herc79 for the comeback...The Dreamliner (B-787) is my current plane-of-choice and its state-of-the-art computer electronics panel automatically corrects many problems before the pilots are even aware they exist. Unfortunately, not mine, however (lol)...I went through the normal before flight check lists and my failing electric problem still occasionally occurs... As far as checking both mags, I believe that is still routinely done before every propeller flight...Thanks again for the suggestions...I'm still searching... Lee Graves
  18. I've been having a problem every so often with the electric power suddenly shutting down in the midst of a flight and refusing to come back on. The panel goes blank and a message appears in the upper left corner of the screen that says I must restart electrical power to get the radio back on. When I switch to the overhead panel and check the Electrical portion, everything appears ON and normal. This includes the Battery and all AC Busses. I turn them off and back on, but still no power to the radio or the panel gauges...And, that's the end of the flight...These flights are all done with NO FAILURES requested... This all happens unexpectedly and without me doing anything unusual to the controls. Sometimes it happens while the co-pilot is flying the plane...Has anyone else experienced something similar? And, how do you restore electric power when the overhead panel says its still on? ...All comments and suggestions much appreciated... Lee Graves (Ryzen 5 3600 cpu; ASUS ROG B-550-F MB; 32 GB Corsair memory; GeForce 2060 video card; Sabrent 1 TB SSD; ASUS 27" Gaming Monitor; Updated Win 10; ANTEC case)
  19. During recent IFR flights I have been losing ATC instructions and comments from the ATC screen and only seeing my input appear. This also means I have lost all ATC live traffic. When this happens,I am only aware of ATC instructions when the co-pilot answers and "You" appears on the screen, followed by him repeating the message ATC has just sent, off-screen... Has anyone else had this loss of ATC messages happen to them? And, has anyone found a way of (1) keeping it from happening in the first place and (2) restoring ATC comments to the screen, without having to entirely shut down MSFS (and lose the current flight)?...All comments and suggestions greatly appreciated... 21. LA Flights host Peter says he will be broadcasting live from KLAX on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. On other days he posts tapes of earlier activity...He operates a camera looking at runways 24L and 24R; while his brother Joshua operates one scanning runways 25L and 25R...Between them they provide continuous activity from one of the world's busiest air terminals... I believe anyone liking big iron plane spotting will find it hard to leave this site, once they try it... Lee Graves
  22. For a very busy bit of real time plane spotting, try LA Flights. Continuous take offs and landings on all four KLAX runways... Lee Graves
  23. Apparently, someone from the Associated Co-Pilots Association read my first post, because much greater co-pilot cooperation has occurred recently. I am currently operating the magnificent B-787 Dreamliner; creating routes and conducting flights for 14 of the world's busiest airlines (liveries compliments of flightsim.to.com)...It's a big job and I need the co-pilots help... I have added 4 lvfr ground service programs, which provide realistic local airport vehicle decor throughout the world... Anyway, I'm pleased to report that posting a need on the Flight Sim forum surely gets results!... 24. I'm having a problem getting landed aircraft from the runway to the gate. Everything goes smoothly as the co-pilot lands the plane and exits the runway. The tower says to contact ground control and the co-pilot stops at the runway limit line and applies the parking brake. But, he doe not call ground control and we do not more...If I take over, release the parking brake and get taxi instructions, I cannot get the co-pilot to carry them out. If I again select AI Control (the co-pilot), the parking brake is again applied and nothing else happens. We don't move... Basically, I can't get my co-pilot to continue operation from landing to contacting ground and carrying out taxi instructions...This has only become a problem recently. In the past, all went as expected and we wound-up parked at the assigned gate for ground service. This is what I'm trying to do now...Perhaps I have inadvertently changed something in the Options group (or, somewhere else) and caused all this to happen. I hope someone in the Forum can help me...Thanks in advance for all suggestions... 25. Thanks Steve--I'm checking it out and still looking for a way to get my Ground Services crew back to work... Lee Graves (Ryzen 5 3600 cpu; ASUS ROG B-550-F MB; 32 GB Corsair memory; GeForce 2060 video card; Sabrent 1 TB SSD; ASUS 27" Gaming Monitor; Updated Win 10; ANTEC case)
