  1. I was going to try the demo for x-plane. but it was a huge download. so I will stick with FSX.
  2. i don't believe that A2A is in the simulation market just for the money. they have nice products that are not cheap yes. but they are high quality products. and they are not forcing any one to buy them. nor is ORBX I have a lot of A2A products and the only thing I have from ORBX is the HD trees for FSX. they are not forcing me to buy any thing either. so I don't think stating that they are in it just for the money is the right thing to say.
  3. yeah I seen a video about that. it said this new FS isn't going to be very good.
  4. well ORBX has some great stuff if you have the space and money for it. and A2A has got a new airplane if you like aircraft add on's:pilot:
  5. because that is how you get to the innards of the computer is by having to move the power supply. and I do use compressed air cans on my computers. this is a 15 minute video I found for cleaning the Alienware. you can see in it you have to move the power supply out of the way. and the first timer going to clean the thing not know can trash the computer
  6. well going with more ram would be a waste of money as FSX does not use that much ram. and the Alienware go trashed because of the way they designed the power supply. yes it was under warranty. but they said seeing as how it was damaged by me that they would not replace the parts needed to get it running again. the problem was when I clean the computer after 2 months of having it. I swung the power supply out like your supposed to. but little did I know at the time that when you move the power supply that it broke the pins off of the hard drive and ripped the plug off of the power supply. cause it kept having BSOD's and shutting down and that's when I seen what had happened. so I got a new computer that's a lot similar to the XPS8500 in terms of cleaning it out.
  7. i did take a look at your specs and you and I have the same amount of ram. but my new computer has Nvidia graphics @4 gigs not two like yours. besides this thread being a month old now I have the computer I was asking about on here and it does really well. with all my sliders maxed out. but I haven't taken it to really heavy scenery area's just yet. course though all my scenery is stock.
  8. I see this has no replies. but I was doing some research and found that this computer that I posted the link to should run FSX just fine. as I was looking at the difference between this and the alien ware aurora R8 and the only difference is the alien ware processor is an I7 4.6 Ghz with 16 gigs of ram and an 8 gig GPU. but the computer I should get next week has 8 gigs of ram and an I5 4.1GHZ processor. and a 4 gig GPU. so the alien ware has slightly better performance but the computer I got is half the price. :)
  9. nice thanks. I will make a not of that. there also needs to be a change in the registry for windows 10 for FSX to work correctly as well. and I have that in my favorites so when the computer comes next week I can work on it when I have the time.
  10. i have another gaming computer coming NOT alien ware though. but I learned what I did wrong with the last computer when trying to install FSX lesson #1 I didn't install Microsoft visual c++ first. that was why I was not getting the scenery pictures or airplane pictures when installing it. when I installed the visual c++ first in the old one I had no problem. so I am going to take my time and do it right. lol. I will try and stay on the old computer if I can till the new one is up and running. the old computer is showing it's age:(
  11. hi guys and gals. yes I know there are a lot of threads on this topic. but my Dell XPS 8500 is showing it's age and I am thinking about upgrading. what about this https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-desktop-computers/inspiron-gaming-desktop/spd/inspiron-5680-gaming-desktop/ndblutcr3052s would FSX do good on this? I had an alien ware R8 but it died after just three months. so maybe this will do better then what I have now.
  12. to the original poster. not to sound difficult or any thing. but if I was you I wouldn't worrie about VOR's and navigation stuff like that till you get more used to things. that's more advanced navigation cause you need to set up the radios and stuff like that. I would get to know your plane first and how to handle it then start easing into more advanced stuff. don't just jump in feet first. when starting FSX for a new guy there is a learning curve.
  13. VHF omnidirectional range is for navigation. that would be the private pilot lesson you can do and read about that.
  14. or at least post a screen shot of what he's seeing so we can help better.
  15. I hope they found who did it. A2A is to good to get hacked.
  16. also make sure you don't have the Markers turned off.
  17. a little thin on information here. what simulator are you using? and what tutorial are you talking about is it a mission or a lesson?
  18. thank you sir. that's fine I will start from scratch eventually any how. I want to customize a computer for what I need not what some one thinks I need.
  19. well the thing was a lemon since I got it. cause they sold it to me with out the cd rom drive. and then it was having nothing but errors and had been reformatted about 3 or 4 times. I'm glad I am back to my old trusty computer. it's been working faithfully ever since I got rid of the Alienware. and yes it was brand new. 2,449.89$ is what I have to get paid off.
  20. I tried to but they only gave it a 90 day warranty. and guess what? it fried the hard drive and power supply after the warranty so they told me I would have to pay for the hard drive power supply and OS out of pocket. and it had a 2TB hard drive in it so those are not cheap then the power supply was probably a couple hundred bucks to. so I scrapped the thing. that's why I'm back to the XPS 8500. I don't know if I will get another new computer Just for my flight simulator or not? I did like how it handled the flight simulator though.
  21. it was Dell. but I had nothing but trouble with the computer since it had gotten to my house. about 2 days after I had it had a start menu error and had o be reformatted because of corrupt system files. then after that it wasn't running for anything and then finally I just went back to my XPS 8500. I got to fly on that for a little bit yesterday. never had any problems with it. but I am not so sure if I will get another Alienware computer or not?
  22. well after having a new computer for 3 months they scrapped it for me. because I would be playing a simulator and the thing would pixilate the screen and shut down. I thought at first it was an over heating issue. but I was not it had a junk hard drive and a bad power supply. and they wanted more to fix the thing then what the payments are on the computer. so I am back to my 6 year old computer and flying happily :)
  23. well after a lot of frustration I finally got FSX installed into the Alienware computer again the full thing and even took care of the registry issue with the acceleration pack. now all I have to do is transfer about 100+ files from my cd's to the computer and spend 3 days getting every thing reinstalled. :D
