  1. Thank you all for your kind words. I'm glad you all liked the pictures. Thanks, Peer. I think I'll follow your tip from now on, instead of resizing to 50%. By Murphy's Law, there was one some days after I repurchased the 744/748 hahaha My previous rig was an Asus VivoBook X556UQ (i5-7200U limited at 2.5 GHz for FS9 and FSX, 6 GB RAM, Nvidia GT940MX GPU, a PNY 240 GB SATA III SSD and a 1 TB HDD). Now I have an ASUS TUF FX504GD (i5-8300H limited at 3.7 GHz for FSX, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX1050 GPU, a 256 GB M.2 SSD and the same SATA III SSD from my previous rig). I limit the amount of Turbo Boost so that the CPU never throttles. Laptop cooling systems are almost never designed to handle continuously the maximum available boost.
  2. A year ago I purchased the iFly 747-400 (+747-8) for FSX, and I showed my results here: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?314846-Test-driving-the-iFly-B748 However, I couldn't make it work in my old laptop and I had to return it. Now, with my current laptop, I finally bought it again. This is what I've got now: iFly Boeing 747-8 with the stock Lufthansa colors, flying between KJFK and EDDF. Now my laptop can stand this load. Edit: pictures seem so small; I had to reduce them so that the forum system can accept them.
  3. Nice A-4, from the time when Argentina had an aircraft carrier.
  4. Congratulations: you were replying to a 2,5-year old thread . OP's motivation may have disappeared when QW released the 787-10. Now, since someone is asking for the 787-3, I'll reply: for complex models, steps 1-3 are OK; however, step 4 is not. What you should do is the following: 4. Rename the TDS aircraft.cfg to something else 5. Copy the QW 787 aircraft.cfg and air files to the TDS 783 folder. If you did step 4 correctly, there will be no overwrite request. 6. Open the aircraft.cfg you pasted and edit all effects, lights, fltsim.x, exits, folding_wings, tailhook and contact_points sections with the ones from TDS. 7. Make sure all fltsim.x sections point to the correct model, panel, sound and airfile locations.
  5. Nice pics! I never thought you were flying some heavies...
  6. Nice bird and nice pictures, Darryl! I guess you couldn't resist purchasing the Aerosoft A330 for P3D4. In which rig do you run it?
  7. It's a desktop. Get a better cooler for your CPU, so that you can sustain those 4.2 GHz (or even more) continuously while keeping low CPU temperatures. I can't recommend one, I'm a laptop user.
  8. Please, keep us informed. Maybe I'll end up reinstalling FS9 in my new laptop.
  9. After seeing the A330 from Aerosoft (and fearing that won't ever be released for FSX), I'm on the search for an A330. Currently I have both CLS and Wilco buses, but: - CLS: nice external model, not so good VC, very light on FPS, but incomplete systems (no FBW and no autothrust commanded from the levers). Leftover from my FS9 days. - Thomas Ruth: same as CLS, but at least is freeware. I merged the model with the Wilco VC/panel/FDE. - Wilco: ugly model, good systems but very buggy, FDE is way off. Also purchased during my FS9 days. Is the Blackbox one worthwhile, when compared with Wilco?
  10. If I remember correctly, the 9Dragons scenery has already this AI approach file, so no need to add another one. There you can see some pictures I took when I still had FS9: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?308656-Kai-Tak-was-closed-too-early-(
  11. Darren, you're using fullscreen mode, right? At least with Win7 and Win10, FSX has some issues when switching tasks. The workaround is to use windowed mode. Thus, you may be able to Alt+Tab as you wish.
  12. Thanks everyone for your kind words. I'm glad you all liked the pictures! Yeah, I know Wilco model is not that good. I'm still searching for a decent and stable A330 and A340 for FSX, with 2D panel, that behaves as an Airbus (TOGA/FLX/CL modes, FBW, 4º pitch at approach, nice model, etc). I guess I've just excluded almost everything available for FS :(
  13. Wilco Airbus A330-200 in TAM colors, arriving into São Paulo - Guarulhos airport (SBGR): In case you ask: - FSX Steam Edition - Orbx Global+Vector+Buildings HD+Trees HD - Orbx openLC South America
  14. Just reinstall FSUIPC and, if FSX asks again, press Yes.
  15. Très jolie, Gérard! These photos don't look that default.
  16. If you have it, use REX for FS2004. I used to do so, until I moved to FSX (barely 2 weeks ago).
  17. 3 years? I've just moved to FSX-SE last week when I bought my current laptop. This makes either 5 years (for FSX-SE) or 13 years (for FSX boxed) after its release hahaha. I have some addons to re-purchase (FS9 addons that I have and want to have in FSX), but I guess it will be around $110 (including the iFly 747), and I will only miss 1 single add-on that I care for (the Dreamfleet 727). Going to either P3D4 or MSFS2020 (when released) will be at least 10x more expensive for me. There is something I have to admit: right now you may be able to get a good laptop for FS9 for less than $400. Desktops, even cheaper.
  18. Thank you all!! In fact, the clouds are what I've liked the most from FSX-SE+REX. I'm glad you've also liked them.
  19. No, not Dell, please: I've burned already the 2 of them I've owned. ASUS is a good option. There is one caveat: since the OP budget limited, I guess he won't be paying for a gaming laptop with a decent cooling system able to handle Turbo Boost speeds. Mostly are designed for handling the load at base frequency. Because of this, I'd prefer the i7. But definitely not with Intel graphics. I struggled 6 years with those GPUs. Any cheap Nvidia will do better.
  20. After setting up my new laptop, let's say I took it for a spin: Aerosoft A321 in TAM colors, departing from a rainy Aeroparque (SABE) After takeoff: For those who may ask: I'm using FSX-Steam with REX4 Texture Direct, Orbx Global+Vector+Trees and Activesky Next.
  21. I think you'll get a better reply in the official support forum.
  22. Thanks, Jorgen. I'll reframe my question: is it a worthwhile upgrade from my current rig? This is my current laptop: i5-7200U, 6GB RAM, GeForce 940MX, 256 GB SSD+1 TB HDD.
  23. It's been almost a year with the lapto. How has it been performing with FSX?
  24. What do you think of this laptop for FSX-SE? It's just $805. https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-IPS-Level-i5-8300H-GeForce-2666MHz/dp/B07DY11M1F Asus TUF FX504GE-ES72 CPU: i7-8750H (6 cores, 2.2-4.1 Ghz) RAM: 8GB DDR4 Display: 15", 1920x1080 Storage: 256 GB M.2 SSD (yes, too small, but there's space for another drive, and I have an SSD lying around). GPU: Geforce GTX 1050Ti My idea is to run FSX-SE with Orbx Global+Vector, no addon airports (just AFCADs are enough for me), AI, ActiveSky WX, and aircraft such as the Aerosoft Airbus and the iFly 737. Moving into P3D is not an option for me, I was able to get all the FSX addons for not that much. For reference, the i5 version is $656 and the Ryzen 5 version is $700. I'd prefer spending the $100 more for 2 more cores, but only if it will be up to the task. Will it be a good purchase?
  25. Nice pictures! Judging from them, you're flying the Posky 741 with the RFP 742 panel and CIVA INS... but what edits did you do to the panel?
