  1. Hello Could the OPs original query ie scenery updating have simply have been the change from summer to wintertime textures. When this occurs it still catches me out a little until it dawn's on me 'Winter is here ' much hiss and boo. Andy
  2. Hello Robert As an alternative , I would suggest the Project Fokker 100/70 (Freeware) You could keep the DA version until (hopefully) you get a solution to running it correctly. The PF Fokker definitely DOES run with Ten ,in fact I have been using it again recently (and enjoying it too). Plenty of liveries both old and new. It even has its own unique 'virtual panel' which isn't actually a virtual panel at all , but a viewpoint unique to this particular aircraft (it's good too, keypad NUM 5 to select ).It does have a 'norma'l 2d panel as well. Anyway some thoughts . Hope you get things sorted. Cheers Andy
  3. Hello JSMR You are right it is very confusing . I use FSXreal weather PRO which is in the archive section . I have used this particular version for many years until recently when it got deleted during a reinstall of W10. Sadly it had disappeared from the downloads at the FXreal website(archive section).(Much hiss and boo)...But! HOORAH it became available again quite recently. In my opinion FXrealweather PRO is better than LITE ,AND 3.0 as well . VERSION 3.0 is i 'believe' payware and on first use it shows a thirty day trial period...however on using the program a number of times that thirty day trial doesn't decrease it just stays at thirty days. FXrealweather PRO Is Iam sure the freeware version ,but that does display a fifteen day trial period and that DOES decrease with daily use .I am not sure what happens when i reach zero days, but I 'THINK' you can still use it . Confusing or what? Anyways FXrealweather lite is definitely free. Fxrealweather PRO i am pretty sure is free. FXReal 3.0 is i think the payware version. IMO opinion having tried all those versions FXrealweather PRO is my favoured choice. One criticism of all versions is the some times ultra wild wind changes in speed and direction and consequently rapid instant drops or increases in aircraft speeds which can lead to you being hurled around the sky in a most disconcerting manner (i don't believe this is meant to be simulated extreme turbulence/wind shear either but maybe....) if it is then i would not like to experience the real thing. All in all a good weather addon though and with improvements i would probably be prepared to buy. Gawd ! What a carry on. :) Cheers Andy
  4. Hello I am not sure as I haven't used any of these historic era fleets myself. Perhaps give it a try and see what occurs. Cheers Andy
  5. Hello There If you are talking about the freeware MyTraffic 2006 (that's the one i have) Then this is what i did..... Open the MY Traffic folder within fs9. Scroll down the various 'bits' within that folder until you see seven batch files labelled 1965 1970 1980 1990 2000 2005 2006. click on the batch file for the AI you want to see for that particular era IE click 1965 if that's what you are after. A screen will appear with obvious technical jiggery pokery going on ,wait till that window auto closes ( A few seconds) then start Fs9. Position your self at a major airport and watch for traffic (I chose Heathrow ) now your AI will all be from the era 1965 66 67 etc and that era year only (no modern stuff). The same procedure applies to the other years as well if you want 70s 80s etc If you want to return to 2006 (the default era now outdated of course )but i am fine with that then select that particular batch file. PS I did notice that at the bottom of those era batch files one labelled simply Trafficbat i am not sure what that does and as i am not particularly tech savvy if you want to try out my above solutions to getting different era AI then that particular batch file should probably be left alone. Hopefully somebody in the know can explain what that particular file does. Anyways i had no problems....using the 1965 bat file as an example i could see Comets ,707s ,old liveries BOAC ,BEA amongst others at Heathrow Gatwick etc. Cheers Andy PS a certain amount of at your own risk applies, but it seems to work fine for me. My only wish?... some clever person out there could add up to date AI for this program as it is freeware now and works particularly well . Its ideal for people with older PCs as the models only use dxt1 i believe .
  6. Mallcott I think you may have solved my problem. I use the Nvidia control panel to change/tinker with colour settings . I have always opted for the Nvidia settings rather than the default 'other applications control colour settings' so on your advice i switched to the latter and it looks as though i have fixed the problem,( unless i am willing myself to see something that isn't there ) but now the colour settings i am now sure are identical in both windowed mode AND importantly in full screen. I always felt that because my Gcard was Nvidia then i should use the Nvidia settings, but it seems not so. When i select my evenings flight and its darker (very bright sunlight at the moment )and the sim colours are deeper and more saturated i will be able to definitely see if my changes(your idea) have finally fixed this issue . trying to be positive I think they have. Cheers to you and all contributors to my query this issue was driving me bonkerroony Andy
  7. Hello All Thanks for your replies. I am just about to check them out know. Cheers Andy
  8. Hello Cockpit Commander is one of many extremely useful gauges by Glenn Copeland. I have CC ,as well as auto gear and flaps up after takeoff ,arm spoilers and reverse thrust for landings a nice clock and timer....these may be worth your while checking out ,if CC works in FSX then maybe these will as well . I am an Fs9 user my self and his gauges have helped in making the flight experience even more enjoyable. As well as the gauges mentioned above there are quite a few more available as well ,could well be in the file library here at FScom. Perhaps a search using Glenn Copeland will turf them up for you to check out. Cheers Andy
  9. Thanks Bam Card is running 32bit and the monitor resolution is correct. Looking on the net,it seems this full screen washed out problem (Nvidia only I believe)is quite an issue with gamers as well, it's not just FS9 . Actually the look is not dire ,it may actually be closer to reality, but I do like a bit of colour in my life. :) and would like this FS option to work. Cheers Andy
  10. Hello All My graphics card (NVIDIA GT 730) a modest but perfectly acceptable card for Fs9, bar one thing. If FS9 is running in any windowed mode the colours of the sim are perfect just as i like them. the problem is i like to run fs9 in Full screen mode but when i switch to that the colours of the sim become washed out and anaemic looking . This appears to be an Nvidia problem and across a whole range of there cards. i have tried some of the solutions offered on the net ,but none have worked so far . As an example have tried setting in Nvidia control panel (Output dynamic range ) from limited to full (this was one supposed solution to the washed out full screen)...... i didn't work for me. Any thoughts? This is a very irritating glitch . Thanks Andy
  11. Absolutely I feel your pain :) I must have been sat in front of my PC for about eight or nine hours yesterday trying to sort out all these problems, my eyes burnt and back ached. A repair rein of Windows fixed the internet problem, but in the process I lost my rather good freeware weather program FsrealWX Pro (freeware) and sadly no longer available at the FsrealWX site , I now have to settle for FsrealWX lite which has fewer options ,is a little slow at installing weather and just has a less pollished look about it. Another minor point my Fs9 exe (little aeroplane)has changed to what looks a little like a white notepad icon ,as has the shortcut on the desktop . Fs9 still runs but I do like things to be right. Cheers Andrew
  12. Hello Tim I am at present trying a reinstall of Windows in the hope that may fix things. Update... I now have restored my internet connection....Hoorah.....But now have to reinstall all sorts of other utilities etc that have been affected by my reinstall....Hissss! All this because I tried to add a twelve quid wireless dongle ! And that didn't work either . I don't think argos do refunds in these cases. Bloody Hell twelve quid wasted and a buggered up windows to boot Happy daysí ½í¸‚ Cheers Andy
  13. Hello All This morning I tried to install a usb wireless dongle on to my pc . I tried everything to get it to work but with no joy . In the end I gave up and reconnected my yellow Ethernet cable ,put this down to experience. Now I can't connect via the Ethernet cable either. I keep trying to enable it but it simply won't connect. I have tried uninstalling the Ethernet through device manager in the hope it will reinstall the correct drivers ,but that didn't work either. I am stumped ,not only stumped but with no internet connection on my pc either. Can anyone help with this ? I can't call TalkTalk (my service provider) because they are running minimum staff because of Covid. Thanks Andy
  14. Hello your Fs9 cfg will be found like this. Click on your C: Drive to reveal its contents. Look for 'Users' Folder and open that. You should see three folders named. Default folder ,Public folder and your unique PC name folder. Click on your unique PC Name folder and look for folder 'App Data' you should see this time....local ,local low and roaming . Click on Roaming and look at the files there ,you should see file Microsoft. Click on that and you should see amongst other things FS9. Finally and hooray click on that and there you will find your fs9 cfg. If you have got this far ok but rather than delete your FS9 CFG it would better to rename to something like FS9 original or suchlike just in case its not an FS9 cfg problem. Try again to restart FS9 , if it opens then FS9 will have automatically created a new copy for you. This may or may not work, but eventually you will be able to sort this FS9 start up problem i am sure ,and once you have done so, rather than go through the above long winded ballyhoo to find your cfg, make sure to create a shortcut to it once located to your desktop instead ,you made need to access quickly for other reasons in future . Anyway if you know all this already then simply ignore the above. If i have made any errors in my post on locating your fs9 cfg you have some very clever people helping i.e. Longbreak ,Zwobbie etc who will correct me if needs be and amend my instructions. Good luck hope you get it working soon cheers Andy
  15. Hello Mr cloaking Concerning approach speeds If you need help with approach speeds, takeoff, cruise, decent etc I can recommend some very good freeware guides by a man called Werner Schott. These guides cover all the major popular airliners and lots of other aircraft as well.(They are specifically for flightsim users) You can even print them out ,or as I do store them on my android tablet. I have had them for years ,and still refer to them from time to time. They won't help with your fuel loads, but a freeware program called fuel loader will and make the whole process much easier than using Fs9 default.(although you will still have to get an idea of the correct amount you will need for any given flight )There are plenty of folks here who can help you with that though. Not sure if it's available here at FScom library, but iam sure it is there at the other place (whispers) Avsim. Cheers Andy
  16. You state that you 'always flying with full tanks' That would be fine if you were doing a massively long half way round the world flight, but your flight from LOWI to LIRA is in the hundreds of miles (not sure of exact distance )a short hop for a 747. Your problem (I think)is that after such a short flight LOWI LIRA by the time of your approach and landing you are to heavy (with fuel)and to slow ,and on disengaging autopilot you stall and crash. Cheers Andrew
  17. Hello Robin just to say firstly i appreciate the time and effort you have put into trying to help me with this . I read your post and also Jim's on the way you would go about achieving what i want. I did this first thing this morning when i tend to be calmer and can take time to read things carefully. There are just a couple of extra points though... 1 My working copy of FS9 no longer resides in my C:drive , I had to move it to create some space on my small internal SSD (i.e. 240g )so I can update my Windows 10 to the latest version. I moved FS9 to a portable external SSD labelled F: and fs9 runs perfectly well from that location .It was just a case of copy and paste from C: My question is does the fact the FS9 no longer in C: cause any problems with me trying to achieve what you and Jim have succeeded in doing. Query 2. To save an awful lot of ballyhoo, i was wondering if a fellow simmer could send me via internet an untouched 9.1 version (has to be 9.1)of the FS9 Texture folder? is this possible or is it to big an item to be sent direct to me via the internet? Thanks to all Andrew
  18. Hello Robin You state that you saved everything "including the folder in My Documents " to a portable drive. Could you explain this bit please what folder in My Documents? PS can you install a new working copy of Fs9 from the original disks to a external SSD labeled F: for example rather than the default C: Sorry to keep on about these things, but have been trying to search the net for further info on the topic of backups ,moving copies to different locations ,instaling fresh installs from the original disks etc ,but find myself getting more confused ,as different people have different ideas on these subjects. Thanks for your help Cheers Andrew
  19. Hello Robin After you had created your new install from the original Fs9 disks ,did you apply the 9 to 9.1 update as well? (As Jim described in his reply) It looks as though update added new texture files to the original 9.0 amongst other things. Thanks Andy
  20. Thanks Jim At the moment I have settled for extracting the texture folder from get another backup on an external drive. Iam almost? certain that these are the correct textures, but once I get a bee in my bonnet about some thing I won't let it go. I did finally work out how to extract files from my orig Fs9 disks so that is something, I did notice though that some files from the original texture folder were missing ,so you may be right about installation the 9.1 patch as well. Anyway for the moment iam done with tinkering for the day. It's amazing how what starts as a supposedly a short session of fixing things in Fs9 turns into another three hour eye straining ,nerve jangling session . Thanks again for your input and detailed description of what to do when trying to replace files . I will bare these in mind for another attempt.........but not today. Iam thinking if I had replaced my texture file with the one from the original Fs9 disk I would have encountered ctds because textures needed by my 9.1 Fs9 would not be available. In fact when I tried to run a saved flight that's exactly what happened it reached about 80 percent then Fs shut down. Fortunately with my other backup texture folder put in place the same flight that ctdd ran again correctly. Still learning things about are venerable old (but most excellent simulator) Cheers Andy Cheers to yo
  21. Hello I did manage to do this year's ago, but can't remember how. I tried putting disk 3 of the four used by Fs9 into my cd ROM drive . I selected 'view' and verily my cd drive did hum. After some time I could see various CAB files and other stuff. The problem was that Cd ROM kept whirring and whirring and whirring some more and that's all that happened. In the end I gave up waiting and cancelled the operation. I particularly want to extract the default Fs9 texture folder. If somebody can point me in the right way of achieving this I would appreciate it. I do have Fs9 backups and could use the texture file from them, but I want to be sure that file is absolutely the default one. Cheers Andy
  22. Hello Again My first experience with VOZ was not a great one owing to me not taking the time read the install instructions correctly, and getting my default textures overwritten worldwide because i unin VOz BEFORE ! using the unvoz button. Having taken the time to read the instructions carefully ,i am going to try rein again today. I saw enough to be impressed. Cheers to you Andy PS Thank heavens for FS9 backups.
  23. Thanks Robin And also thanks for your tip about naming various installations of Fs9 on a pc I have done that myself , to avoid any unwelcome interaction's between them. One thing I did notice was when renaming the copy of Fs9 on my C drive was the amount of time it took for the renaming action to take place, normally it's an instant operation, but with Fs9 it took about thirty to forty seconds before anything happened, but the name change was eventually accepted, whether this is something to do with windows security I don't know. Thanks for your Input to my upgrade windows question .I will see what (if any ) other thoughts on this question are forthcoming. Thanks Andy
  24. Hello All (Posted on the fs 2004 forum because I feel will get more views) I was wondering whether or not i should update to the latest version of w10 (my current installation is 1809) As things stand everything (more importantly Fs9) is running without problems. I have noticed that some people have had issues with the latest (1909 I think) , particularly sound problems i.e. there isn't any when running Fs9. I realize there will be differing opinions ,and ultimately it will be my decision ,but i would still like your thoughts anyway. Cheers to you all. Andy
