  1. It worked fine long time ago. I also have access to a Windows 10 computer. It runs fine on the Windows 10. I've since copied the original Windows 10 aircraft onto the Windows 11 and it crashes the same as the Windows 11 version of the aircraft. I thought maybe with all the extra photoreal scenery I have on the Windows 11 computer that it might be a Virtual Memory issue. I maximized the VM and still no joy. At this point, I'm just going to throw in the towel on the Milviz 310R.
  2. To Zippy: For starters, I'm a bit in over my head here; but, here's what I've uncovered. In Windows 11, you can begin by opening the "Event Viewer". Searching for any errors at the time FSX closed shows a only series of several errors all of which looked like the two below. Id = {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}; ClientMachine = FRONT; User = NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM; ClientProcessId = 3128; Component = Unknown; Operation = Start IWbemServices::CreateInstanceEnum - root\wmi : HpqBIntM; ResultCode = 0x80041032; PossibleCause = Unknown Id = {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}; ClientMachine = FRONT; User = Front\Main; ClientProcessId = 4500; Component = Unknown; Operation = Start IWbemServices::ExecQuery - root\cimv2 : SELECT * FROM Win32_NTLogEvent Where Logfile = 'Application' and SourceName = 'Windows Error Reporting' and EventCode=1001 ; ResultCode = 0x80041032; PossibleCause = Unknown I really don't know how to interpret either of those. The Milviz 310R is from a purchase long ago. I have dozens of other aircraft add-ons -- all of which work just fine. This is all in FSX. I'm stumped.
  3. Really don't know how to view either of those, the error report or module. All I know is after clicking on fly now, in a matter of a couple seconds, the whole program shuts down,
  4. Milviz Cessna 310R in Windows 11 crashes before the loading completes. Any thoughts??
  5. My Windows 11 install of FSX works perfectly. See: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?339623-Windows-11-Installation-Success
  6. Having installed FSX on a new computer, I now have a lot of addon scenery files to transfer to it. To save time, after copying all the scenery into FSX, is there any way to activate all of it at once rather than one scenery file at a time?
  7. I don't know. I went from Windows 10 on a 9-year-old computer to one that's state of the art with Windows 11. It's absolutely excellent, exceeded all my expectations; but that's not a fair comparison. As far as user friendly, there's things I had to learn; but a bit of reading goes a long way. The transition was easier than most operating system transitions I've been through.
  8. Writing notes here to myself; but perhaps they'll help someone else. This Windows 10 link had the activation solution: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/activation-with-microsoft-flight-simulator-x/2b451ed4-4d81-4dd9-875b-c2d76b883bcc
  9. In reality, not quite successful. It's installed and it runs; but, for lack of authentication, I cannot set any controls to my preferences.
  10. After several failed attempts, I was able to install a boxed version of FSX Gold and Acceleration on a new Windows 11 PC. The key step was clicking on search and the typing in "Run" then selecting "Run programs made for previous versions of Windows". Then running the setup on Disk 1. Follow the prompts. That took care of the first 2 disks. Then, closing everything, install the Acceleration disk the same way. PS I did not time the installation; but it took a very long time as I was using an outboard CD reader.
  11. The glide slope angle is whatever the airport requires. Hilly terrain, buildings or other obstacles might require a steeper descent or even an indirect or "dog leg" approach to avoid a collision. The same holds true for the intercept point. As for distance from a nearby airport, you can use charts, the gps, the simulator's internal map, ils sytems, etc., etc. A good start is reviewing the learning material built into the flight simulator. Additionally, you might want to get copies of a couple of these free FAA publications: https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/phak
  12. Windows separates and creates two different directories, one for 32-bit programs and the other for 64-bit programs. The Program Files stores all the 64-bit programs and the Program Files (x86) stores all the 32-bit programs. x86 stands for different processor types, i.e. 286, 386, 486, 586/Pentium. The separation of folders has been created to avoid the problems and issues that can occur when a 32-bit program tries to be executed by a 64-bit component. The popular 64-bit Windows versions also install the programs to the Program Files folder only. But the 64-bit versions of Windows also support 32-bit programs, and Microsoft doesn’t want 32-bit and 64-bit software mixing up in the same location. Whenever any program is installed by the user on a system with a 64-bit CPU, the folder of it usually goes for the 64-bit content. Whenever a 32-bit program tries to utilize the 64-bit component, it is going to face many issues and problems. So what the developers did with the Windows was very smart. The Windows separated and created two different directories of the 32-bit program and 64-bit program. The Program Files stores all the 64-bit programs and the Program Files (x86) stores all the 32-bit programs. x86 stands for different processor types, i.e. 286, 386, 486, 586/Pentium.
  13. Whatever. LInes 2 and 4 have to match your installation. The example matches mine and it works.
  14. I don't use the programs you mentioned; but, if those add-ons are individual programs, you might be able to do what you want to in Windows with a batch (bat) file. Consider this at your own risk. You can create a bat file with Notepad to automatically start multiple programs. In my case I use this bat file to automatically start two programs, FSRealWx and FSX. @echo off cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\FSrealWX" start FSrealWX.exe cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X" start fsx.exe exit These lines were entered in Notepad and I saved it as an executable bat file with the title, "Start Real Weather and FSX.bat" Clicking on this file or its desktop shortcut will start both programs. The weather loads and then FSX loads with the default flight. By changing lines 2 through 4 and/or adding lines for your own programs, you can create a custom bat file to load multiple programs. A batch file, part of Microsoft DOS, is a script file that stores commands to be executed in a serial order. It helps automate routine tasks without requiring user input or intervention. Some common applications of batch files include loading programs, running multiple processes or performing repetitive actions in a sequence in the system. For an in depth description see: "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batch_file" If you try this and have questions beyond these notes, I can't be of much help. What you see here is all I know about bat files. Have fun.
  15. Great graphics are interesting; but, I see FSX as a flight simulator not a sight seeing simulator. Above a few thousand feet, there's not much to look at -- even in an actual aircraft. I have always and continue to enjoy FSX for the technical side of air navigation and flying.
  16. 1. You install it as a separate, independent program. 2. After installation, you run it as Administrator on your computer. 3. Click "Start" on it. 4. It then starts, and it waits for FSX to be started. 5. You start FSX and you're all set.
  17. Logitech Extreme 3D Pro It has 2 distinct features. It is very versatile and it survived my two, now adult, sons growing up!
  18. Search scenery here with the term "seaplanes" and several seaplane bases, including several large groups by Chris Carel, are available.
  19. Here's a list to try: https://aviation.allanville.com/misc/fsx-water-runways
  20. The now freeware Iris PC-9 and PC-A are interesting aircraft; but both give false low fuel tool tip warnings. The following fix was posted by Flanker251 for another aircraft, and I found that it works on the PC-9 and PC-A. Here's what he posted: "I had the 'Your fuel level is critically low in the selected tank' flying tip as well continuously popping up. I did a gamble by editing the aircraft.cfg file of the aircraft, like this: [fuel] ... ... number of tank selectors = 2 //ORIG: 1 ... To my luck no more 'Your fuel level is critically low...' messages after that."

  22. Wherever the moderator wants to put it is okay by me. Considering the high readership in this forum, it may reach further. This is a true opportunity from some young aviation buffs.

  24. On the default C208, i do not believe there is a way.
