  1. I know this is an old thread, but for the information of people, it was discussed recently on Mentour's YouTube channel. The yaw damper does indeed make it so the pilot of, for example, a 737 only normally works the yoke, while the computer will keep the flight co-ordinated.
  2. Three versions of Flightsim came out after 9/11, if it had been used as a tool that wouldn't have happened. Remember that it isn't so real that it could be used as a tool for that level of training.
  3. Cannot think of a more community overated game in history.

I'll be sticking with FS9 because it kills the new MSFS!

My FS9 has performance, the clouds are not blurry, it has seasons, it has ATC, it has customizable AI, there's more, I'm just running off the top of my head...oh...my rainbows look less fake...oh...historic weather...oh...FS9 is fly away, no more to pay...lol

The things people will sacrifice to see their own house. I want a flight sim! Google can show me my house. haha

It's also 15 years out of date. Yes, you had historic aircraft, but they flew like cardboard boxes. The new one is about a lot more than pretty scenery, or at least such is the claim.

  4. Never liked the idea. The sim might save settings you're not aware of, and therefore compromise your next flight.

How hard can it be to write down an ICAO, stand number and time-of-day?

    Wim

I usually either reload the aircraft or load a different one, so not an issue.

Write down? What is this? Isn't that one of those antiquated terms from before the digital age? (In all honesty, I can scrounge for a pen and paper to scribble things down, or press ;. Obviously that is easier. And sometimes I'll be called away mid-flight, I can just save where I am, even if it isn't at an airfield.)

  5. Yes, FS-Pax was great for those things, I didn't know I was making hard landings either, too bad it doesn't look as though there will be any more versions of it for P3Dv4 and beyond.

I don't think there are actual checklists to go along with that, unless you maybe try googling for real-world procedures. Can't say how relevant they will be to flying in the sim.

  6. A discussion over at the *other* site made me wonder how many downloads my stuff has had. Took me a while to total it up, but I've had 312,863 downloads from flightsim.com! In addition to what I used to get from my old, now closed site.

Although the stuff I do now hardly gets any hits at all, 30000+ is still a good total. Thanks to everyone!

  7. I know I've said it many times, but...

Does anyone know what the career expectancy of a fighter pilot is? This movie should be "Maverick double checks the numbers on an Excel spreadsheet"

  8. Using P3Dv4, it seems I have changed a setting somewhere, and now my aircraft take fuel from one tank entirely, rather than from all. Does that make sense?

Like right now, in another window I'm making a flight in the default FSX 737. I set the fuel prior to takeoff, but tank one drained completely, and engine one shut down. Is there something I can do to get it back to drawing fuel from all tanks evenly?

  9. Possibly because you've been nothing but negative. You have no more information than everyone else, just cool it and wait for some more to trickle out.

You may well be right, but maybe you'll be surprised.

  10. Ah ok, that's what I had thought originally, then I heard they had actually sold it, which would be a shame considering how fast FSW died.

So they may be building a new version based on what they had before, which bodes well for expandability.

You know what's kind of funny? I hope they keep bgl files, just because they were a throwback to Bruce Artwick who first developed flightsim.

  11. I'd like to think that they know that what has kept Flightsim alive all this time is the ability to expand it, hopefully they will keep that.

If I'm not mistaken, they sold the entire old product to Dovetail, so this will have to be a new sim from the ground up.
