  1. Looks a lot better than XP's default scenery, but is it any more REALISTIC, which is important to me? Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.6 GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  2. I have enjoyed all of your recent disaster videos. You are very good at creating them ( :) ), and your video technique is excellent! Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  3. To be honest it is years since I have seen FSX with standard scenery, so I really don't remember how it looked. I have been using Orbx scenery for a long time, i.e. their Global Base, Global Vector, Open LC North America, and Open LC Europe. I am using the same sceneries for P3Dv4, and I am happy with them. Orbx sells many regional sceneries and airports with greater detail and sharpness, but now things are beginning to get expensive! But first give yourself some time playing with the settings, you may be able to optimize the looks of the standard scenery some. As I recall, to use the DX 10 option you need a payware program called "DX 10 Fixer", you can probably find it with Google if it still exists. Have fun! 4. People have different preferences, all I can tell you is that I use a 3440x1440, 34", 21:9 curved Monitor and I love it (not cheap!). The only thing to consider is that the very high width to height ratio limits the vertical view somewhat in wideview, but it has not bothered me much. I have seven flight sims on my computer and I have never felt a need for a gaming keyboard. Most modern flight sticks have numerous programmable buttons (my Thustmaster T 16000M has 16 such buttons), but a yoke would probably be more limited in that respect. Anyway - have fun! Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  5. Should work fine with a basic FSX-SE installation. I recommend the Steam edition as it has been trouble free for me. Problems may appear with numerous demanding add-on programs, but not a given. Hardware add-ons may require a higher capacity power supply. Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  6. Hi Captain! I just wanted you to know that I enjoyed your videos, and I am quite impressed by your flying. I also like that you included yourself in the video - it made it more interesting and personal. Keep up the good work! Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  7. Or install a free program like CCleaner that can clean up the Registry. I could not live without CCleaner (CrapCleaner)! :) Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  8. You can't possibly be talking about the standard scenery in XP! Good luck to those trying to cover the world in XP with believable scenery, like you can in FSX and P3D with Orbx Global and Land Class sceneries. Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  9. Excellent video Irfan! Is this DCS - and any addons? Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  10. I think your proposed new computer will run P3Dv4 adequately with reasonable settings. But future additions of many demanding planes and sceneries may eventually bring it to it's knees. However, I think that has happened to most of us! Flight Simulation has been good for computer sales. Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  11. Which Sim is that? :D :D :D Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  12. Hi Kirk, you are certainly loading your computer graphics hard, are you watching the CPU and GPU temps? I think your question can best be answered by yourself, i.e. are you satisfied with its current performance? If you are, I would not consider OC. If you are not, consider that the tangible improvement is needed only when fps becomes marginal and/or graphics become jerky. I overclocked my previous computer CPU running FSX from 3.2 to 4.0 GHz and gained a roughly proportional boost in fps (20-25%), which permitted me to run much added Orbx scenery smoothly, but only on one HD monitor. However, the CPU temp ran too high, and I had to add water cooling. I have never tried to OC a GPU. My oldest son is now running games on that computer and is happy with it. Beyond that it becomes a game of playing presentation quality vs. settings, but you have probably already done that. Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  13. Yes - to each his own! :) Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  14. I fly P3Dv4, Aerofly FS2, XPlane 11 and FSX. Of course they all have their strong and weak points. But I have to say that XP is collecting dust in my computer, because realistic scenery is important to me. While the LOOKS of the standard XP scenery is not bad, it has little to do with reality - you will notice that immediately when flying over familiar cities/terrain. I want more realism, and I get it in spades in P3D and FSX with Orbx Global and Land Class scenery. No such world-wide, realistic scenery is available for XP yet. FS2 looks great in some places, but has flat photo scenery in many others, and world coverage is very limited. Just my humble opinion. Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  15. I made an error, the nominal, accessible SSD capacity is not 512MB (!), but rather 476GB. I have posted my question to Micron, but got no answer yet. I will post any answer I receive. Now I am wondering if the number "512" in the part number indicates the total capacity of the drive, and the advertised and available "476GB" indicates that the 36GB difference represents the set-aside memory not to be used. Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  16. Thanks for your comments, you are probably both right. I use a Micron M600 512MB SSD. I will try to pose the question to Micron - if they answer questions that is. Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  17. Hi All, I am a happy SSD user no problems. I know that you don't defrag an SSD, and I never have, but you read various statements not to fill up an SSD. The most questionable statements I have seen say never to load to more than 75% of capacity, or all kinds of problems will occur, others have said that the needed spare capacity is reserved, and you can load all the way to the nominal capacity. What I would like to know is actual experience from people, who have been operating close to the nominal SSD capacity and what your results have been Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  18. I agree with everything you say, but I don't think the planes in CFS3 have autopilot - if I remember right. Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  19. Brought up some good memories! I attended back in 1989 - had a great time. Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  20. Nicely done! That is quite a number of airlines represented, are all shots from the same airport? Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  21. I was aware of the ongoing scam, but got curious because the new program title sounded like it was a flightsim for virtual reality. Anyway - thanks both for the info! Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  22. I thought so, but did they not change the name? Found the website - they charge some hefty prices, especially for optional PRO scenery. 23. Has anybody tried this flightsim? Never heard of it before. Looks amazing! Here is a video https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=virtual+pilot+3d+reviews&&view=detail&mid=773B239A86D4E99E7A46773B239A86D4E99E7A46&rvsmid=A4308E1EB90B86100CCEA4308E1EB90B86100CCE&FORM=VDQVAP Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
  24. Oh, those memories. My very first flight when I was 12 years old and in a DC-3, that was exciting! But I am not saying what year it was ;) Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.5GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X; ASRock Z270 K6 Gaming MB, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM; 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD; Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; 34" 21:9 curved 4K Monitor
