  1. Thanks for all your input. I have now tracked down the files I need and I hope I can begin to enjoy FSX as much as I did FS2004. All I have to do now is to find out why the individual sounds for each aircraft in the programme do not appear with each aircraft. Once again many thanks for all your help.

DO learn more about the install routines for FSX. You are trying to run before you can walk. Sound folder is a SEPARATE entity...

  2. Hello, I have recently bought a used saitek cessna pro yoke, and ive been struggling to find a solution to a problem. Whenever I turn the yoke to the right, i get an uncontrollable amount of jitter and bouncing in the axis. When i turn the yoke left the axis is somewhat stable to a point where it doesnt affect flight. I have opened up the yoke and made sure all connections to the potentiometers are secure and i have cleaned the potentiometers with contact cleaner. Any ideas what could be causing this, as surely if the potentiometer was broken it would jitter both ways?

Looks like a problem with calibration. Have you modified the axis?

  3. Bear with me, I am just putting a toe in the water regarding the G1000 nxi autopilot on the Cessna 172

Watching various videos I had the impression that simply hitting the AP button with nothing else selected starts the FD and should hold the aircraft's current roll and pitch (ROL and PIT in the display).

It certainly holds the roll but as far as I can tell not the pitch, am I missing something?

    Geoff

Yes. Try reading the instructions. Engaging the autopilot can be several different operations.

  4. I don't know about this 2020 sim, or about the specific DC-3 model you have, but a real DC-3 did not have superchargers (nor turbo-chargers, for that matter). Their engines were normally aspirated. Of course that doesn't preclude someone from installing them, either in a real aircraft or in a sim model.

Various versions of the R-1820 Cyclone WERE available with turbosuperchargers.... Not the ones usual to the DC-3 nor C-47 though.

  5. There are issues under Win 10 which you cannot get around that were not there for other operating systems. For most people here, they have not come across them because they don't try and use certain add-ons with certain hardware. The issues do however exist.

XP12 works just fine, as it does under Win 11.

  6. Metaverse is having huge issues and losing hundreds of millions.... I think it will eventually fold...... but the headset should keep working beyond Metaverse if you can get customer service to actually do there job!......

Tech for tech's sake? Waste of time - and money!

  7. Remember the vintage- lotsa folks didn't have seat belts in their cars yet. The Jetsons started in 1962, and seat belts weren't federally mandated for new cars in the U.S. until 1968.

Yes, I remember how backward you yanks are. But as I recall we brits didn't get seatblets mandated until January 1983.

  8. The issue isn't the hardware, or even the software. The issue is the inconsistency of the dates the games present.

I have NO representation for the local streets newly added in my area - and Leeming Bar is a local airfield.

PLEASE stop emphasizing what does NOT exist. The software is the issue, the choice of the supplier of raw info the problem...

  9. I am using an old system (Dell inspiration 15). It was very slow so I decided to upgrade it's RAM. I purchaed and installed a new RAM in my system (https://www.allhdd.com/hpe-713985-s21-ram/) becuase my task manager was showing a that my RAM is full. After installing a new RAM, it just improved it's speed a little bit. Now I have a question. What else should I do to improve my system speed.

My system specs are mentioned below

    RAM 16 GB now

    Processor i3 4th Gen

    Hard drive 512 GB HDD

    OS Window 10

Graphic card? Gonna want to upgrade, soonest.

    Then CPU, then HDD.

  10. Sure, if you don't like flying over real scenery. Otherwise the best is FS2020!

No it isn't. I wish you'd justify such a quote with evidence. There is none to be seen here. I know what you allude to, but it requires fast and reliable internet connection and connection which can GUARANTEE constant updates, persistently updated.

I wasn't aware FS2020 was able to guarantee such speed and consistency?

  11. The advantage is for the guy that turns left from home to go 10 miles to the airport, or turns right from home to go downtown to the office - and can also have some flying fun on weekends.

Ah! So a real pilot then?

Don't think the `average car driver` even knows what an airport is, let alone how to get there... unless they're off on holiday.

  12. I used to get this also with the .25 driver so tried going to the Studio driver, 522.30 if I remember correctly, and no longer saw this warning.

Actually it also made a significant improvement to the performance too after watching PilotPete's Utube on tuning the settings - worth a watch.

I see Nvidia have dropped a new Gaming driver earlier today but I'm going to wait for a few reports before endangering my new-found fps!

    I use 526.47 (todays release).

    No issues.

  13.

Reading elsewhere, seems like a significant downgrading of the range `promises`? Over-promising AND under-delivering?

How much longer `til they throw in the towel?

    I can't trust a plane called `Alice` - maybe it's too Wonderland?

  14. Yes - but you have transportation for short and long trips at greater speed. And you can save the money for a car.

My nearest airport is about 60 miles away, or about an hour by car.

    Where is the advantage?

Do you even know what fuel costs, or are you still pedaling?

  15. I'm sure the engines are fine, my concern was the weight, resulting movement stress and vibration with potential metal fatique. Those wings look pretty slim!

You DO realise the V-22 Osprey has used a very similar approach for over a decade..? More than 400 in service.

    https://www.bellflight.com/products/bell-boeing-v-22

The main difference is that the AW uses a pressurised fuselage where the Osprey is unpressurised. So I guess the AW609 is built tougher than the Osprey...
