  1. Karen, have you tried P3d or X-Plane? If you want to talk about clunky and sucks. And John, maybe if you post your all of your computer specs and internet speed, someone may be able to help you with your problem. May do like a lot of us do and put those specs in your signature line.
  2. I agree with you Steve and Keith 120%. I cannot believe how crisp and sharp everything is in VR now since my personal update! I can even read the instrument panel now without leaning way in. Regards Kevin
  3. Or move threads like that to the FS2004 forum where most people hate MSFS 2020 and would love those threads to validate their use of a 20 year old piece of software. I think these people are seeking attention and are trying to instigate arguments to get our threads shut down rather than trying to find help with a problem.
  4. I agree. I'm so tired of these individuals that come to this forum just to complain about everything to do with MSFS 2020 and then disrespect everyone else who enjoy it. We CAN'T do anything about your issues so PLEASE contact Microsoft to complain. Maybe they will listen to you.
  5. The APU can be used in flight for unusual circumstances such as extreme electrical demands or an engine generator malfunction. Regards Kevin
  6. Sorry. I know your not him. I was just trying to inject a little humor in this thread.
  7. Yes it is an apparent bug. I see that all the time after I have completed a flight.
  8. I use the Honeycomb Alpha Flight Yoke and the Bravo Throttle Quadrant as well as a Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals. You can get all of these on Amazon. I thoroughly enjoy these controllers. Flying with a keyboard is very painstaking as well as not very realistic. Good luck to you. Regards Kevin
  9. Hi Richard, and a warm welcome to this fantastic flight simulator. I also don't experience any of the problems certain people always seem to have. It has worked fine since I purchased it on December 26, 2020, except the one CTD I had in January of 2021. The sim has worked very well for me since then and I quite enjoy it. But beware. There are certain individuals who feel the need to excoriate you because you enjoy it. Just ignore them and have fun flying the best flight simulator so far.
  10. What the heck are you talking about. You make no sense. What IT knowledge are you talking about? You don't need an IT degree to assess a flight simulator. What substance? You mean in an antiquated program like FS9? Please explain yourself, sir.
  11. So that's where you are going? Yours is bigger than mine attitude? That's childish nonsense. As for attitudes, yours is of a superiority complex. Show me the stats that 4-5 of the MSFS guys are really, really grumpy. Maybe you should re-review all your posts in the MSFS 2020 forum because you get very grumpy there where you berate anyone who enjoys MSFS 2020. Although you haven't actually said the words, you've implied that anyone who enjoys it is stupid and a moron and doesn't know what they are talking about. I'm glad you enjoy FS2004 which is almost two decades old. I bet you think Windows 98 is still a fantastic operating system also. Are you still using it also? Unlike you who has never used MSFS 2020, I used FS2004 for 12 years before I got tired of the antiquated graphics and flight models. You might as well use Train Simulator as that is the way the aircraft fly in FS2004. I then moved to FSX but was not impressed with it at all so I moved to P3D for many years, even used X-Plane also. So don't tell me I don't understand FS9. Then MSFS 2020 came out and I couldn't believe how fantastic it is. And when I "launch" it, it only takes a just over one minute to open, which in your antiquated computer would be a miracle. And you definitely don't understand MSFS 2020 because YOU have never used it and I think you are lying about having a system that can run it. That's why you haven't tried it personally! Maybe you are too young to know that the 32 bit FS9 has a 2 GB memory limitation, but I remember. It was a major cause of memory leaks and overload and caused major Blue Screen Of Death problems when flying over a couple of hours. It happened to me quite often and not just on my computer. My high end computer at work did the same thing, and not just too me. When it was extremely slow at work my fellow workmates would do a flight and then complain to me that the program crashed on a regular basis when they tried it and wanted me to "fix it". There was no fix so what do you do? To summarize everything, I'm just tired of you thinking you can spit in other people's soup and walk away unscalthed in the MSFS 2020 Forum. So I'm here to spit in your soup for a change to see how you like it! FS2004 is a primitive, old, ancient program that is not realistic in any way and full of bugs and limitations. There is nobody who is going to update FS9 to modernize it in any way. You should get into the modern era and stop trying to relive your childhood. Stop living in the past and I triple dog dare you to try MSFS 2020 on steam for $1 for a month. Then maybe we might listen to your ridiculous criticisms. And stop lying about your poor computer specs!! At least you can post your computer specs so everyone who seems to listen to you will know how inadequate your system really is. I triple dog dare you again!
  12. Somebody loves to exaggerate about 100 GB updates which is not unusual for this individual. He exaggerates all the time about things. FS 2004 graphics are cartoonish, out of date and the planes fly like they are a train on rails rather than an actual aircraft. Oh, and don't forget the Blue screen of death that happens all the time, especially after a long flight and in the landing phase due to a low memory usage problem. FS 2004 is complete trash compared to MSFS 2020. The graphics are fantastic. The flight models aren't perfect (yet), but they will get there and are way better than anything in FS9. And yes I've decided to interfere with your precious FS 2004 forum like you do constantly in the MSFS 2020 forum. You have no experience flying in MSFS 2020 but yet seem to be able to criticize it with complete disregard or any 1st hand knowledge of this new simulator. I dare you, no, I double dare you to try MSFS 2020 for a month then maybe I will listen to your criticisms. That is if your computer system is even up to the task, which I doubt.
  13. Thank you again, Stephen. I have been watching Youtube videos on Little NavMap and Navigraph\Simbrief all day and I think you are right. Being retired, it makes it tough to spend money on things like this especially with all the inflation going on and a wife who loves to spend money on herself but refuses to go back into the workforce while being too young to retire herself.
  14. Thanks, Stephen. I guess I will start learning how to use Little Nav Map or Navigraph to create flight plans.
  15. I create my flight plans in the World Map in MSFS. I don't use Little Nav Map, yet. When I create a Low Altitude Airway IFR flight plan from Spokane International Airport (KGEG) to Portland International Airport (KPDX) and get into the cockpit in the Baron 58, a waypoint or whatever it is, always appears in the in the flight plan on the G1000NXI map. It is called MANSEQ. It appears just after the end of the runway 21 at KGEG then the magenta line ends there. I can delete this inside the cockpit and the flight plan will re-appear. That's fine. But as I get closer to KPDX it appears again in the flight plan on the G1000 and makes the autopilot follow it off course instead of toward the airport. Anybody know what MANSEQ is? And how do I keep it out of my flight plan? I don't see it anywhere in my flight plan on the World Map otherwise I could delete it there. This only seems to happen in this one flight plan. I don't see it in the G1000 if I make a flight plan going from KPDX to KGEG or to any other destination for that matter. Any help would be much appreciated.
  16. Thank, Sonny. You beat me to the punch. I knew it had something to do with setting the controls to Legacy Mode. Just didn't know exactly where it was located.
  17. I believe there is a setting for this. Something about controls need to be set in legacy mode (not the flight model). I have to update the sim before I can get in and find the setting so I will get back to you. Unless somebody with a better memory can reply to you.
  18. Welcome to the wonderful world of MSFS 2020! You have a lot of courage admitting this. I still wonder why a few individuals think they have valid opinions on something they have not even tried (I have tried sushi and can give a valid opinion of "I don't care for it"). Granted, they read other peoples opinions (they usually only read the negative opinions) and base their own negative opinions around that and cannot understand why, what I consider the vast majority of people, enjoy it. Most people who do enjoy it don't post anything while the few who have a problem (real or perceived) are very vocal, whether it actually is a problem with the software, their hardware or internet connection. I have not had any of the problems others claim to have. I have had only one CTD and that was in January 2021. I guess I'm the lucky one. My hardware works great for it and I have a very strong and fast internet connection. So good luck to you and keep enjoying it as the vast majority do and if you have any problems or questions, there are many knowledgeable people here to help (which I THINK a forum is for, to help).
  19. I have a I9-10900K overclocked to 5.1 Ghz and have not ever had a problem with CTD's. And before THAT one person puts words in my mouth again about "so your saying everybody else who overclocked their computer shouldn't have a problem either". No! I must be the lucky one because I don't have an issue with it. I'm only talking about myself and MY system. I flew a 7 hour flight the other day with no issues at all. Most of my flights are 2 to 3 hours normally with no issues. I would suggest trying it and if you have any issues then try lowering your overclock speed a little at a time until the simulator runs stable even if it means you can't over clock at all. I also recommend what Steve mentioned above about getting a $1 Game Pass to see if you even like it before purchasing it. So I wish you good luck and happy flying.
  20. About 25 years or so ago, I had a friend at work who had a good friend at the Air Force Base near where we lived. He invited me to join him one day to go to the Base during our lunch hour and fly their full motion KC135 (basically a Boeing 707 converted to an air to air refueler) flight simulator. It was fantastic! We lost track of time and were there for 2 hours flying this thing. Got in huge trouble with our boss when we finally got back to work but it was well worth it. I would do it all over again if I had the chance. We even got to get extremely close to Air Force One 747 (and I mean EXTREMELY close) which happened to be there that day also as the President was visiting. We weren't allowed to go inside it, though. It was heavily guarded, naturally. But was still exciting to see up close.
  21. The VR word triggers several members of this forum. They all feel the need to respond negatively toward whoever posts anything about it. Why it bothers them that people enjoy VR is beyond me. And they will get nasty about it. I enjoy VR immensely. I have all my switches and buttons on my Honeycomb Alpha Yoke and Bravo Throttle Quadrant set up in pretty much in the the same order that is displayed in the aircraft cockpit so it makes it easy to find them without removing my VR headset. It is beyond me why some individuals feel the need to respond negatively toward anything VR. It's like they want to start a fight without ever trying VR in MSFS 2020, or any other game or simulation! Granted there are a few forum members who get out of hand defending VR. Alternatively, there seems to be many more members who bash VR without actually trying it IN MSFS 2020, or any other game-simulation and making wild claims about how difficult it must be. Example: J-chocolate cake is delicious and I enjoy it D-chocolate cake is vile and I couldn't choke it down. J- Have you tried chocolate cake? D- no but I can only imagine. J-you don't like chocolate? D-yes I love chocolate. J-you just don't like chocolate cake? D-as I have said, I haven't tried it but it sounds disgusting and I would never try it. But if "YOU" enjoy it then stop telling me about it! J-then why are you responding to this thread? D-because I can have an opinion on any subject and I like to cause trouble. And by the way, stop telling me what to enjoy. J-to each, their own. D-stop telling me what I should do! J-I'm not, I'm just trying to discuss how much I like chocolate cake with other people who like chocolate cake. D-YOU shouldn't be allowed and need cancelling! (Me-That is what all this bickering sounds like to me).
  22. Oh no! You have invoked the dreaded VR word! That will trigger several people on this forum!
