SSTSIM cruise climb problem

your killing me smalls is a quote from the move the sandlot i shouldn't be heavy the virtual fuel engineer is on and mom won't let me have champagne because i'm 16

Aha, that piece of cinematic artistry must have passed me by, apologies.

The virtual fuel engineer is a splendid fellow and is very kind to animals, but is I am afraid not capable of changing the laws of physics. I did post a chart as a reply to one of your other threads detailing what weight you need to be to achieve a given altitude. Please refer to that.

Tell mom she is a spoilsport and do what we all did as kids and get an older kid to buy your booze for you.

i have thought about giving up flying concorde but i feel motivated by a quote from buffy the vampire slayer it's from the episode where her mother learns she is the slayer and she tries to prevent buffy from leaving to save the world from angelus but buffy fights her off and when she tries to leave her mother says you walk out of this house right now don't even think about coming back she leaves anyway every time i hear that quote i feel like she is saying to me you walk out of this concorde right now don't even think about coming back

Rerun ..... I think we'd better wait until a new season so you can get a new quote to live by. This one just ain't hacking it with respect to the Concorde .... if you know what I mean ..... and even if you DON'T know what I mean ...... everyone else knows what I mean ...... I think.

As alluded to above...

I think there was a checklist used in the step climb, related to the transference of champagne from bottle, to bladder, to holding tank.

I seem to remember FL560 being held until that sequence was complete, accompanied by suitable repositioning of champagne trolley.

It was all manually done in those days.

The lads hoping to get Concorde airborne again will have quite a steep retrocurve to negotiate.

The aviation community has serious doubts, since even the Vulcan couldn't be kept in the air due to maintenance costs - and there are unique and specialised systems on Concorde for which no-one is trained or currently certified to maintain: the cabin air conditioning for instance uses engine fuel as a heat-exchanger before it is pumped back into the burners. There are many innovations such as this everywhere you look, the project is widely regarded as a bottomless money-pit unfortunately.

I would love to see Concorde flying again. However given the technical difficulties of getting airframes ready which have been standing idle for over 10 years I cannot see it happening. How effective is the hydraulic system or fuel system or electrical system after all this time? What about airframe integrity?

Even if you overcame all these by throwing a lot of money at it there is the question of certification. Possible in the States perhaps as an "experimental" but I cannot see the UK CAA playing ball.

Given the recent Hawker Hunter accident, who in their right mind would put their name to this? It was sad enough that Concorde's illustrious lifespan was overshadowed by Gonesse. Do we really want to risk it's final chapter having to be re-written following another diaster.

how do i get the weight to the tons you gave me does the virtual fuel engineer do that can you tell me what the virtual fuel engineer does and doesn't do

Your aircraft will become lighter as it uses up fuel. When it gets lighter it will climb higher. You have already been told this.

The VFE will balance the fuel trim tanks so that the centre of gravity is correct for each stage of flight. But....YOU still need to set all the fuel tank pumps and inlet valves to the correct positions before take off. You also need to set the two tank load limiters to the correct values for tanks 9/10 and tank 11 or the VFE cannot do his job correctly.

For a London-NY flight load the aircraft with 90 tonnes of fuel before you start the sim.
