FS9 Crashes when clicking on the radio stack icon

All the time and every time? This may be tricky to figure out, but we will get it. Do you know if it is calling up the default radio stack that is used in the 737, 747? I don't have this panel myself so I don't know what it brings up. And is there any message or does it just shut down, freeze?

I'm far from being an expert but look in the panel.cfg and compare it with another panel cfg of the same aircraft type, it may reveal a clue it may not, just a thought.

If you delete the icon from the main view, then open the radio panel from the keyboard (shift+3), and it works, then the problem is the icon. Solve the problem by using the regular fs9 icon. If the problem remains, then something is messed up in the window definition, and you can attack that.

It's not bringing up a default radio stack; it basically just brings up the radio stack seen in the picture except you can move it around.

It just says FS9 has stopped working.

If you delete the icon from the main view, then open the radio panel from the keyboard (shift+3), and it works, then the problem is the icon. Solve the problem by using the regular fs9 icon. If the problem remains, then something is messed up in the window definition, and you can attack that.

By making the change to ident=RADIO_STACK_PANEL this will bring up the radio panel that you are using as a pop up panel to make using it easier whether you use the ICON or Shift+3.

RedBadger, the radio icon on your panel uses the default radio stack "ident" (RADIO_STACK_PANEL), but your panel.cfg entry uses "50" as its "ident". If you change the panel.cfg "ident" to RADIO_STACK_PANEL, the radio window will appear when clicking the icon or pressing Shift+3.

By making the change to ident=RADIO_STACK_PANEL this will bring up the radio panel that you are using as a pop up panel to make using it easier whether you use the ICON or Shift+3.

As a sample, I am showing the [Window02] from my b-57 Canberra for FS9 (Not modified for FSX) This is how it should look. Don't worry about the type of radios it shows, it's the format that's important.

Did that, but the sim still crashed.

Last thing I can think of is to delete that panel and re-download and install it again. Looking at the HJG site, the head guy says that sometimes little bits and pieces are missing for whatever reason, causing problems.

Can you also go into your Event Viewer and post the crash so we can see exactly what's going on? It might also help. It's very easy to corrupt a .dll and maybe you did somehow with this panel.

Yeah I re-downloaded and it crashed ;~; , although a few "tiny black boxes" were no longer present.

Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Event Viewer, select Custom Views-> Administrative Events

I would look for anything with a red warning sign. Maybe a faulting module or something similar.

Looks like it's something with that panel. I've never heard of a faulting module being a .gau file.

It looks like it has something to do with the F-16 Radar. As an experiment, you can eliminate that gauge in the panel.cfg under [Window.0] by inserting 2 slashes in front of gauge90.

Sadly, it still crashes :l . I can live without having to click on that icon if I must, although it'll be deadly for the sim if I accidentally click it.

OK, now after reading your other post about your Sim crashing at different airports while taxiing, I don't think the problem you are having with the radio popup is due to this panel you are using. It might be time to think about when all of your problems started and start eliminating your recent addons. Are you flying the 717 when the airport crashes happen?

Yah they're independent problems.

The last flights in which this happened it was the 717, but I'm sure this has happened before with other aircraft, and at airports I've used for a long time without problems. I'll have to acquire more information as to when the crashes are happening (hasn't happened yet and I've been using the 717).
