stinger2k2
No crashes for me. I do have a decent rig though. Only 60 mb download speed on my broadband. Intel 10700 Nvidia 2080ti Ssd drives. 32mb ram Sorry that you are experiencing crashes. Frustrating. My suggestions... Empty your community folder. Try running on minimum settings (just to prove if that's the issue) Check CPU and video card temperatures. Thanks Everyone's setup is different, but a common cause of freezes and CTD's is overclocking - if your CPU, RAM and GPU are overclocked in any way, reset them to normal speed. Yeah, overclocking is not in my computer capabilities. I bought my pc and left it untouched. “If it ain’t broke…†you know the saying. johnost
Believe me or not - I have never before had a single in-fligt crash since first buying MSFS in 2020. But a week ago it happened 2 minutes after takeoff. I realized that I had just tried to switch Rolling Cache Limit from 10 GIB to 16 GIB. However, I only have 16 GIB of RAM, and I realized the Rolling Cache cannot use all the memory leaving nothing for other program functions, so I set it back to 10GIB and everything is fine again. This tidbit may have nothing whatsoever to do with your problem, but it might be worth checking. Go to: "General Options, Data, Rolling Cache Settings, Rolling Cache Limit (GIB)". This type of problem may be caused by the computer, but I believe it is more likely caused by the COMBINATION of all the program settings. johnyyz
I came across something ..... Does rolling cache need to be activated on MSFS ? johnost
Well - it turns out that I was wrong. The Rolling Cache is kept on disc - not in RAM. The program tells me that I have 177 GIB free on the SSD, so that gives me no reason for the crash I experienced by increasing it from 10 to 16 GIB. Sorry! bam1220
The one biggest thing I did that stopped my CTD's was to increase the fan speed on my GPU before every flight. I was getting a CTD every other flight before I did this. Now I get maybe 1 or 2 a month. I fly every day as I am retired. I fly only the FBW A320 for now. I'm waiting for a good B727 or DC-9 to be made :)

Regards Steve So I may have found an answer to my crashes to desktop/bsod while in flight. MSFS..... I turned down the terrain detail from 240 to 200, and terrain radius from 160 to 115 So far I have done 2, 4hr flights with no issues So what does this indicate why the computer froze and crashed.????????????????? Thanks Glad it’s working now :) Does your RTX 3080 have two power sockets or three? (My 3090 needs 3) Did you install it yourself or was it included with the pc / had someone install it for you. The reason I ask is that when I bought my previous graphics card (RTX 2080Ti) I made the schoolboy error of using a y-splitter instead of using two separate cables. The card then wasn’t getting enough power at times. I realised my mistake but it’s easily done. When i bought the 3080 I made sure I used three separate cables. I guess I had learnt from my mistake. I don’t suppose thi is is the issue with yours though, especially if someone else installed it but I thought it might be worth mentioning Regards Steve Intel I9-13900K - Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX - 64Gb DDR5 5600Mhz - Asus RTX4090 ROG STRIX 24GB 3x 43” Panasonic 4k TVs - Corsair RMx 1200W PSU - 2 x 2TB M.2, 2 x 4TB SATA III and 1 x 4TB M.2 SSDs.
