tiger1962
It appears planes float now. If you mean this thread: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/the-aircrafts-glide-way-too-far-on-0-power/331335/51 it appears that the ground effect on landing is more noticeable now and the jury is still out on whether it's more realistic or not LOL. dogdish
Do we still need ORBX London after this UK update? ORBX is recommending to uninstall the London City Pack due to buildings being doubled up, etc. until they can make the necessary changes. They said about a week. Also noticed the water around EGLC is funky and will also need to be updated. Elvensmith
Railway bridges over water are broken - basically non existent as the line just dips down in the water and back out again. This may have already been an issue before but very noticeable on low altitude VFR flight (I just bought the 103 Microlight). Vern.
trashmon
Now 24+ hours since announcement of the Update, several startup attempts, sails right through the Looking for Updates screen and goes to regular MSFS startup screens. One added feature, however, a number of CTDs even without the update, something that I've very rarely had happen. Had a couple of 600 nm flight plans interrupted about midpoint or sooner (Grrrrr). Servers dropping out from excessive demand, perhaps. Anybody mid-continent had success with the update? I've checked my MS Account, all is well, just no opportunity to start a download from there directly....
roypaglia
River Thames around Reading is now in a narrow deep ravine, quite funny to see the roads smeared across the new cliff faces with the cars deifying gravity. All houses in Reading appear to be Bungalow/Single floor buildings. To me parts of London now looks like one of those after the apocalypse movies. It looks like smashed windows and vegetation over a lot of buildings. Apparently Southampton and Portsmouth have lost their PG scenery. After installing the update, you need to go in the market place and download UK/Ireland, it's free. Maybe that's the problem.
stinger2k2
This is the best update so far from Asobo imho. No major bugs introduced, as far as I can tell, and some immersion killers like the terrain spikes and coastlines sorted. I am still not totally convinced by photogrammetry as there are too many weird shapes where there should be cranes etc but at least we have the option to turn it off if we want to. Thank you Asobo and good job. [emoji108] Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk
tiger1962
Well said Keith, I agree. The only real issue with this update seems to be something to do with the SDK, which Max at MaccoSim explains on his Discord channel: "The bad news is that we are experiencing some issues on our end, with loading the airports into the editor. A lot of other 3rd party devs are experiencing the same issue, where the sim is (apparently) failing to compile the airports properly and crashing to desktop." Some third-party scenery compatibility issues may take a while longer to fix than normal. Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..." trashmon
Finally gave up with attempts to get the update and went to the Microsoft Store, where I attempted to re-install the whole mess. Microsoft advises me that there is a problem with downloading and issues an error code '0800270' or something. I file a report that MSFS 2020 won't launch, where my report joins dozens of others with the same problem. I go back to the download attempt and try to stop the failed download, but Microsoft warns me that stopping the attempt will uninstall the application. Frustrated, I stop it anyway, whereupon, it begins the download. Shortly thereafter, the 'Checking for Updates' screen appears and gives me the opportunity to update! Finally! I do the update, and 3 hours later, after downloading the ENTIRE 153 GBs, it's restored, with the latest update. Happy, I resume my long distance flight and 2.5 hours later... CTD. LOL, I've had my patience tried by lots worse than this, I'll try again this morning.
