Funny thing happened to me on the first flight. I was at the end of the runway with the breaks on. Have it full throttle and up in the nose it went!

 

Big radial + breaks + tail dragger + Mac power = dummy behind the yoke!

That used to happen a lot with Mustangs and Spitfires as well.:eek::eek: Then you add in the rollover from too much torque and not enough wing pressure. Big radials can be very "interesting" to fly!

 

Thankfully most of my big radial single experience was in a CH-34. It had it's own foibles, but neither of those two.

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
