Why at 158? I learned to use the sextant.

I went out to the field. I turned my face to the South. I closed my eyes and threw a sextant. Then I looked at the angle at which he fell relative to me. It turned out 158.

Right now, I'll check how accurate it is ...

Four and a half hours of flight.

I think I'm half way to my goal.

So far, nothing new ...

Fuel left 54%.

After four and a half hours I will start to get very nervous if there is no signal from the radio beacon.

Flight time - 8 hours 10 minutes.

The remaining fuel is 17%.

I really want to look at the map to determine their position.

And suddenly on the horizon I saw this:

I really hope that this is Mount Everest on Ross Island.

Hey Stormer,

You're probably giving me nightmares of a RW Connie trip from Alameda to Honolulu! Though it wasn't a MATS Connie. It was an airline, whose name I can't recall at the moment, who chartered it for shipping Marines to Honolulu to continue on to Vietnam on a MATS bird.

Not only were we heading over to get shot. But it was also taking us what seemed like half our life to make that one leg of the trip!! :( They even used two flight crews because it took so long!!

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
