Hello guys. I am having an issue with my FSX. The thing is when I fly everything goes relatively smoothly but I suddenly get a drop in FPS. It lasts for about 5-10 mins then it comes back to normal but sometimes it causes the plane to go totally out of control. It does so with both the PMDG 737NGX and the default boeing 737-800. Hope someone can help me solve this problem.

It sounds like something starts running in the background. A program trying to update perhaps. Or antivirus. Or a Windows update you need to do. Maybe a program connected to fsx, like a weather program or something.

That's a terrible response! You are among friends here. We need to know all about your computer. System's specs, add-ons, programs, config, etc. are all things that hugely affect your performance. If we don't know them, it's impossible to give any decent advice.;)

Oh sorry I forgot the specs....

Intel Celeron N2840 CPU 2.16Hz

RAM:4GB

 

I know my computer my computer is just too weak to fly the PMDG but I was tired of the default planes so I set almost all of my settings to LOW and it worked quite well till lately.

I usualla fly with just the PMDG 737NG and PRO ATC X. No other add-on but I do have the same issue with default planes.

I am sorry to say so, but your system is barely enough to run basic FSX without add-ons.

 

You may - keyword may - be able to get a little better performance by going through Kosta's tweaking guide, but it will probably not help you with the issues you have with the PMDG aircraft.

I agree with Jorgen - and it doesn't happen vary often. That rig is barely capable of loading FSX and add on a complex addon like PMDG and even at low figures it is going to struggle.

 

Your first priority should therefore be to upgrade the computer.

You don't need a lot of money to get the best. Here is one for $1250 that I am sure will give you 30 fps (all you need) even when loaded down with add-ons.

Delete your FSX config and load up the simulator. Tweaking your settings may be a pain, but it's a Godsend when speeding up your simulator!

Chuck, there's no BS here, with all due respect.

 

The processor here is a Celeron, in other words a cut-down Pentium, reasonably popular on laptops in the late 90's that were used for word-processing, and not much more. It's running at 2.1 GHz.....

 

Then, if you look in the FSX.CFG, you'll see that this computer has Intel graphics....

 

Summa summarum: not the most ideal computer for FSX.

Celerons from 1990 did not have hdgraphics built in.

This must be a different one. More modern. Possibly dual core.

 

Edit: It is indeed a dual core, and has a turbo up to 2.58.
