vix0211
Evening, I'm looking for advice. My dad is in to flight simulator in a big way, however he is quite technology illiterate when it comes to knowing things about specs of computers etc. He has mentioned he fancies a new 'gaming computer' for his flight sim. As a birthday present I was going to treat him to a new computer (he doesn't know this - I do hope he's not on here lol!). I don't know much about either flight sim or 'gaming computers' Has anybody got any recommendations? Specs? Makes? My budget would be about £1k (it's a special big birthday - I'm not normally that generous to him lol) Thanks in advance
Daniel.T
Well, basically the word is Intel for processor and NVidia for graphics. Combined with a 64 bit OS who give the maximum of memory usage. Hopefully, someone near you would make recommendations as I have no idea of the prices of hardware in your country. I have to admit that your dad is a lucky guy ;-) Daniel i7-4790K @4400 on Gigabyte Z97X (16gb), GeForce GTX 970 OC, Corsair Spec case Win7 Ult(64) on Samsung850 SSD(256), FSX+Accell on Samsung850 SSD(256), Track IR5 Saitek yoke/rudder radio/multi/switch panels, Logitech G13, GMap on Samsung tab
mrzippy
Try to avoid "gaming" computers. They tend towards graphics instead of CPU speed that is needed for flight sims like FSX or P3D. Intel and NVidia are the way to go! Google search Jetline Computers. They are not available for shipment to Europe and they ARE expensive, but they will give you an idea what is needed for flight sims. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
