Best FSX Freeware Aircraft

Hey guys!

What would you say is the best (most realistic) Freeware aircraft made for FSX? I personally enjoy the TDS 737-8 MAX however it does use the default 737-800 Cockpit. Likewise, Thomas Ruth does make some very high quality Airbus Aircraft.

What notable addons are there for you guys? Cheers! [emoji4]

I mostly fly in external spot view so that I can drool over how beautiful the planes look, so my top priority is good textures and I'm not too choosy about whether the cockpit and panel look good. But whatever your preference, simply download a freeware plane and if you don't like it, delete it and try another, I do it all the time..:)

Below: my current FSX planes, nearly all are stock and freeware, and many are FS2004 machines which work fine in FSX -

If you're looking for a great F/A-18C, go to the FS Dream Team forums and DL the latest from "Jimi" Hendricks and his development team. According to the real-world (where ever that is!) Hornet drivers on their forums, and there are many, some of whom helped develop the plane, , both active and retired, it is THE most realistic plane, and FCS system, anywhere in the Sim universe, bar none. Payware, freeware, it's the very best.

You want v16.1. It just keeps getting better with every release of a new version too.

I can provide a link to the DL forum post should you desire.

Jimi and his team were heavily involved in the development of the original FSX Acceleration's Hornet, and this latest version is a HUGE improvement over that!

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

I went to the forum and I think I found the right link, but it appears to be broken. Maybe the link you have is good. Thanks, Eddie.

Greatest Hornet EVAR!!

THIS IS THE THREAD ENTRY TOU NEED!

There should be a few updates to the v16.X comming out later this year, but for now, this is awesome as-is!!

Make sure you install the C++ Redistributable from THIS POST, or the FCS won't work. And it's an amazingly incredible FCS too.

Is there a link to a F/A-18C User Guide or Ops Manual that might describe how to and where to DL files for this plane? Regards, Ron

Just read through the thread. the files are all contained within an auto-loader file that the link I gave points to.

Click the link I gave, then click the link on the post that I point to. It's about he middle of the post. Once you do, it will open a download page. At the top center is the click-spot for the DL. Click it, tell it where to save it, and then wait for it to DL. It may say it hasn't been tested for safety, but it IS safe, I promise. No malware, viruses or what have you. It does take a while to DL, so you have a bit of a wait. Maybe 45min to an hour. Pretty big file.

Once it is done, unzip the resultant file to an empty Temp type of folder someplace you have total access to.

Double click the autoinstaller, or rclick and tell it to Run As Admin, and tell it where to install the files, and WHICH files you want. The Air to Air (A-A) version? Blue Angel version, whatever you like. I ALWAYS install to an empty folder, like the one with the autoinstaller in it for example, then copy the files to the sim myself. I just feel safer, but you can tell it to install right to your sim, presuming you have full Admin rights to it.

Then just sit and watch the fun :D

Once it's done, open up FSX, and look for the Manufacturer: FSX Blue Angels, if I recall. Maybe FS Dream Team. I just have my favorite test plane as the default start-up plane, so I forget right off which Manufacturer it is...

There a lot of paints per version, so be ready to have fun choosing which you like!

Yes, I was part of the test team and development team, both. Not a big part, I admit, but I am proud to have been involved so far. Still have some work to do with W&B, MOI's and such. Awfully fun plane for carrier ops, with AICarriers.NET at the least, vLSO for max realism :)

I personally prefer the Training model. No ordnance, so max fuel for flight testing and carrier ops.

Go flying :D

Does that answer the question?

I'm crazy about the Honda Jet. It's done by ?Nagguci? You'll find it in this site's library.

If you want to know what it looks like, I put some screenshots in two posts to the MSFS screenshot forum here. It flies like a dream, has a detailed interior, and has a great glass cockpit too. And cruises at over 400knts.

I'm as fond of this little hot rod as PhantomTweak is of his F-18s.

BTW: If you like to download freeware, pay the $25 or whatever and become a First Class Member. You get much faster downloads & you help support the site too. As of the last I heard it's a buy one get one free deal. So you can make someone else a First Class Member too at no cost.

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.

Mitsuya Hamaguchi,That's who it is, Rupert. I'm going to give it a try. I've also been building up FS9. This will be a nice addition to this also. Thanks, Eddie

Hamaguchi-Nagguci. Hey I was close!

BTW: Ole Napamule has a FS9 version that he says hits mach 1.2 for FS9. You might want to check with him on that link! My X version is only good for .81 Mach and that's flat out at FL350.

I've noticed that FSX seems slower, as far as a lot of aircraft goes, than FS9. By the same token, there are a few tricks to making planes, especially jets, go faster. If you want, I can look at your Honda after the Race is over. Just let me know the DL zipfile name.

I won't be able to get to it till after this upcoming Sunday, but...

Thanks Pat,

I'm a simmer. I like the planes I fly to respond and act as close as possible to how they do in the real world. As near as I can tell from going on online and getting standard real world specs., this version of the Honda is a very correct simulation of those real world specs. I like all my planes to fly that way. Isn't that why FS is called a sim?

BTW: Hope you enjoy the Race! Sounds like a cool concept.

It all depends on what you like to fly. I'm a turboprop kinda guy, so my two favorites are:

Mario Noriega's Piaggio P180 Avanti

AFG's Beechcraft King Air 300

FSX Acceleration with FreeMeshX, SceneryTech, FTX Global Base + Vector, FTX AUS NZNI NZSI

Dell Precision M4400 laptop (Intel Core2Duo @ 3GHz; 4GB RAM; nVidia FX770M)

Saitek AV8R-01 joystick; 64-bit Win7 Ultimate; FSEconomy (as fun as it gets!)

The FSX version is more correct then.

The HondaJet has a 420 knot true air speed at FL300, which is mach 0.71.

If it was indicated speed then it would be close to mach 1.2.

Honda is starting mass production of this jet, and it just received its FAA certification in December.
