carss
Hey guys, Im having this new problem with a couple of my payware aircraft like the IRIS ADF/F-22. I add the repaint and it shows in the link correctly, but when I click on it, it doesn't show in the display and then when I click ok it says "failed to load aircraft model". Does anyone know how I can fix this?? Fly To Live, Live To Fly :pilot:
mrzippy
Let's see if I can squeeze out some more info from you. The textures you downloaded are the correct ones for this aircraft? You say they show in the LINK. Does that mean the thumbnail shows in your aircraft selection window, but not in the display? Maybe post 1 [Fltsim.xx] that works OK and 1 of the ones that doesn't show to see if there is a difference. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! Its just that when you click on display, the screen where it shows the model aircraft you selected either goes blank or is stuck with the image of the plane you selected before this one. And when you click select, it says "failed to load aircraft model" Fly To Live, Live To Fly :pilot:

carss
Ok here take a look. Below are some screenshots of the Iris F-22 and I have highlighted what happens.... Ok here is the list of the entire Iris F-22 and its multiple repaints. The encircled is the new repaints I have added.... Ok in the next image I have selected a paint that is standard and comes with the package..... And in this next image, I clicked details and it shows the plane properly like it should..... Now after that, I selected one of the downloaded repaints, this one..... After selecting that and clicking details, notice the screen being stuck with the image of the previous paint where I left off before going to select the new paint scheme.... Now, regardless of of it being frozen, I simply go and select it and this is the message I get..... This is what I was talking about. Have you faced this and do you know how to fix it?? f16jockey_2
As MrZippy suggests, compare a [fltsim.x] section that works with one that doesn't. My guess is the line sim=xxxx will refer to a non-existant file xxxx.air. Wim

I haven't contacted Iris about this problem. Apparently this even happened in my Aerosoft F-16. I haven't added any repaints to my Iris F-15E but I will soon but I am guessing the same might happen again. mallcott
And there is the problem: sim=ADF and sim=F-22 Paints 1 - 9 reference ADF. The remainder (and I 'm guessing the ones you added) refer to F-22. Change all instances of F-22 to ADF and that should fix the problem.
mrzippy
This would be a guess only since the [fltsim.0-18] look good all the way through. There may be a problem in the texture.common folder that may affect some of your added repaints. Like I said, this is only my best guess! Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! StringBean
In the F-22 folder, do you have a file named F-22.air? The sim= line in the [fltsim.nn] sections points to the *.air file. I am betting that you do not have an F-22.air file and changing those sim= lines to sim=ADF, like all of the original entries, will fix your problem. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? Crazyclown
Interesting ! I seen the Problem right off from the Git Go, after reading the Aircraft CFG File . I'll say this - "NEVER Ever" just "assume" that any Aircraft CFG File is 100% Correcto' no matter where you get it from, rather it be Freeware or Payware ~ !! I have ran into many many istances of Freeware Aircraft CFG Files NOT being correct for the aircraft model their supposedly for ! Some are simple mistakes caused by fatigue after a while, too many hours looking at the computer , other just Naïve Ignorant Mistakes ! I know in the recent past I found this mistake in 2 Aircraft CFG Files, and it caused the Aircraft NOT to show up, and I overlooked it twice, myself ,,,, simflt.0] see anything wrong with that ????????????? that's how it was downloaded from the zip file with that Aircraft, NOT how I copied & pasted it !! easy to over look when you've 30 of the same model Aircraft in that Aircraft CFG File and its midnight or 2am in the morning !! Another mistake I've been seeing lately the SIM = Sections are NOT the same as the rest of the Sim = sections that the user really needs tho the Download title says it is ! For 2 years now I never ever Inject an Aircraft into my Main Flight Sim Computer, "UNTIL" I go over ever aspect of the Files, that includes the Aircraft CFG File and how its laid out and printed / typed to make sure all parameters match for the Aircraft model I'm adding to . Closely checking the : Title Sim PANEL UI Manufacturer UI Variation everything in that Aircraft CFG File to make sure it matches with the other model just above the entry !!! I've caught quite a few mistakes by performing this method !!! Next comes the Aircraft Texture Folder looking to make double sure that the "Files" in that "FOLDER" , match the other Files in the other Aircraft Model Folders I'm adding this re-paint to. I've caught a few things that didn't need to be in there and deleted them, everything from Read me files to Photo JPG's, to left over Paint Shop Files , banners, etc. I only use FSX Gold / Acceleration edition / Original 3 Disk Set. I mainly only Fly Vintage Jetliners from the 1950's 1960's 1970's era and Vintage Propliners from the same era . I've spent the last 2 1/2 years religiously downloading Aircraft from all kinds of sites, and to date ,, I have about 4,775 Aircraft in my FSX Simulator, according to my Aircrafter Hanger utility that keeps count !! of those 4,775 Aircraft installed / injected about 70% have the Aircraft CFG File "Edited" in some fashion for my own personal taste or like , or for some other reason . Another thing to watch out for , is the Aircraft "FOLDER" Name !! sometimes I've downloaded an Aircraft and the "Folder" is like this Douglas DC6 - and inside are the Files needed for that Aircraft paint etc. It should of read, Texture. American Airlines or whatever airline or name after the - " Texture." Also that Folder Name, has to match exactly like it says in the "Aircraft CFG File" NO Exceptions !! So if the Aircraft Folder name is : Texture. PAN AM then the Aircrafts CFG File under [sim.??] should read the "exact" same as well like this Texture.PAN AM {-------- and DO NOT leave out that Period ever !!!!!!!! For those who may be wondering how I keep 4,775 Aircraft in my FSX , I have 2 separate Aircraft Hangers 1 my main Flight Sim Computer that's only used for Flying and Amped up a lot ! the 2nd is a Back up Hard Drive that when I want a particular Aircraft, I just transfer it over back into FSX ,,, I keep around 30 to 40 Aircraft in my main FSX computer and the rest are on the Back Up Portable Storage Drive. 2 Aircraft Hangers 1 Simulator. and so far to date, I've never had to unload FSX or do a re-install yet anyway. I keep all my Freeware & Payware sceneries backed up too, and everything I've taken the time to Organize extremely well in a very unique Organized way just like a filing cabinet, everything has its own folder and named & numbered for easy identification and reference and quick transfer of Aircraft or Scenery files. Being "well organized" I find makes FSX a lot happier and "less problems" and also speeds things up too, and on your end too as a user !! its how I do things, it works for me, may NOT work for some of you, and that's understandable and fine. Hope this Tid bit of information helps some newbies out and those getting more into this Hobby, for what its worth ! Now, I've got a 707 Plane to catch in an hour to Rarotonga International Airport , soon as its Fueled by the Ground Crew and I get the call and its out of the Hanger ! Captain I Fly ~ !!
