Ptrcam
After a long lay off from FSX I'm getting back into flying. I decide to overfly some of the higher areas of the USA, I've been over Yellowstone, Yosemite and Pikes Peak. Wyoming seemed to have high ground to look over so I started a flight from the intriguingly named Gt. Green River Inter Galactic 48U and landed at Kastler Compressor Station UT11 in Utah. I found out how Greater Green River came to be inter galactic but I can't find any information on Kastler i.e. what was compressed there and why? I'd be grateful for any info any body might have. Thanks Peter W11 Home. Intel Corei7-14700K 3.4Ghz 28cpu. Nvidia Geforce RTX4040Ti Super. ASUS ROG Strix B650 Mobo. 1 TB Samsung 990m2 SSD.
mrzippy
Don't know how helpful this is: The Kastler Compressor Station compresses natural gas for injection and delivery into a natural gas reservoir. Six reciprocating internal combustion engines and three gas turbines are used to drive nine compressors in the station. Natural gas is the fuel source for the engines and turbines. The station also includes the Clay Basin Dew Point (CBDP) Process Unit. The CBDP process unit receives and processes natural gas from a storage reservoir and from the main lines. The CBDP process unit includes an ethylene glycol regenerator, liquid hydrocarbon loading rack, and miscellaneous process stream equipment. The Kastler Compressor Station is a major source of NOx, CO, and VOC and is subject to 40 CFR 60 Subpart A-General Provisions, 40 CFR 60 Subpart GG-Standards of Performance for Stationary Gas Turbines, 40 CFR 60 Subpart KKK-Standards of Performance for Equipment Leaks of VOC From Onshore Natural Gas Processing Plants, 40 CFR 63 Subpart A-General Provisions, 40 CFR 63 Subpart ZZZZ-National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Stationary Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines, and 40 CFR 63 Subpart CCCCCC-National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Source Category: Gasoline Dispensing Facilities Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! Ptrcam
Dear Mr Zippy, Thanks for researching my question, my curiosity is satisfied. I'm going to keep on exploring this area, today I'll try the alliterative Deadwood Dam ID86 to the charmingly named Treasure Gulch 22ID. Thanks again, Peter W11 Home. CRJ_simpilot
You might be interested in Deadwood's history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadwood,_South_Dakota Been there a coupe times myself. Pretty cool rustic gambling town. It kinda reminds me of Central City, CO. Also a gambling town. It was called Central City because according to a casino owner I talked to Colorado's capital was going to be Central City. Today it's in Pueblo. Other tidbits. Colorado is called the "Centennial State" because this state was founded in 1876. One hundred years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. 1876 is 11 yeas AFTER the American Civil War. Or 10 years AFTER Lincoln was assassinated by a radical little idiot. Edit- Your location mentions the word "mare". This means sea and was the word used to describe "mares" of the moon or seas. Ptrcam
The 'super Mare' part of the name does refer to the sea, it was named thus to distinguish it from other Westons in the Diocese of Bath and Wells. I looked at the Deadwood link and unsurprisingly many of the persons named are already familiar because of our exposure to the culture and folklore of the American west. It's all to easy to forget that there is a history within the broadbrush history that the media shows us. I found the notes on the climate quite interesting, it sounds like a bit of a haven compared to the surrounding country. The patch of the Deadwood police looks unusual since it's formed from playing cards. Thanks for the info. Peter W11 Home. Intel Corei7-14700K 3.4Ghz 28cpu. Nvidia Geforce RTX4040Ti Super. And, the airstrip the OP flew out of (ID86) in Post #3 is located in Idaho, not SD. :) http://www.airnav.com/airport/ID86 "I created the Little Black Book to keep myself from getting killed..." -- Captain Elrey Borge Jeppesen AMD 1.9GB/8GB RAM/AMD VISION 1GB GPU/500 GB HDD/WIN 7 PRO 64/FS9 CFS CFS2
lnuss
Alan is right. Although the state fairgrounds are in Pueblo, the 5,280 ft. elevation on the Capitol steps is right next to downtown Denver. And a hint on airport naming, for the smaller ones such as ID86- the ID stands for Idaho, just as NM in NM34 means New Mexico (it's Keelin Heli-port ). However there are also many other styles, including 48V (used to be Erie Airpark, CO before an ID change) and E98 (Mid-Valley Airpark, NM) and 32IL (Village of Tams Heliport near Tamms, IL. Larry N. CRJ_simpilot
Oh, for god sakes. I thought it was Pueblo even though I know the capital building is in Denver. LOL! Yeah, I know about the state fair in Pueblo an it's probably there for tourism and whatnot. Edited November 27, 2022 by CRJ_simpilot OOM errors? Read this. What the squawk?
