johnyyz
I had MSFS2020 installed with no issues until a few weeks ago when it wouldn't update. So i deleted it and reformatted my D: drive Now i am trying to get it installed but it seems to download/install to a point then just shuts down on its own. Is there any hope of ever getting this to work again or am i just out of luck ? Has anyone out there had this issue and eventually got it to work ? tiger1962
For now, disable your firewall and anti-virus, then try installing again. For future updates you need to add MSFS to your firewall and anti-virus Whitelist so you don't have to disable them again. There are plenty of guides/video tutorials about how to do this on the web if you search for your firewall/anti-virus program. Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..." leegra
You might take a look at something that worked for me. Check the thread listed below, particularly the 5th post from the top, talking about System Restore...Don't wait too long to try it (if you do), because the restore dates keep moving forward to stay reasonably close to the current date... https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?332563-MSFS-installation-problem Lee Graves
johnyyz
yes my firewall and antivirus are disabled, someone suggested upgrading from windows 10 home to windows 10 pro but that is like $130 canadian dollars, and ..... it worked fine before on windows 10 home Edited August 10, 2021 by johnyyz Core i7 10700K OC to 4.6 all cores/EVGA 750W G+ PSU/ MSI Z490 edge mobo/GSkill RAM DDR4 32GB(2X16GB) 3600mhz/ ASUS TUF RTX 3080/ Win10 home/ Asus 32 inch monitor 1440p/ CH Flightstick
leegra
Sorry, I didn't read your first post more carefully. Obviously, there's nothing to restore to...Hope you get the download completed soon...I has a similar problem not too long ago and it all worked out okay... davidc2
I would not upgrade to Windows 10 Pro just for MSFS. johnyyz
When downloading are the dots after moving or do they freeze? If they are moving with animation its still downloading. The dots still move, it just shuts down at 97%.......
