gjfuerth
I am unable to make the altitude and vertical speed work at heights in excess of 18,000 feet. I was told to turn the pitot on from auto but that has not helped. Any advice is appreciated

gjfuerth
I have set the barometric pressure at standard 29.02 at 18 k. Still have the problem because it also happens below 18k

So to repeat, I have set the barometric pressure at standard 29.92 at 18 k but have experience the problem at lower altitudes and also have problems with the descent being set at all altitudes
gjfuerth
Can I get some help with this issue because the airbus models are the only planes with this issue. They are basically nonfunctional without the ability to climb or descend

I think you were advised to turn the ALT and VS knobs to manual from 'auto', or managed, mode. There's a very good video tutorial by a real airbus pilot here: Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..."
