pollito
suppose you are 10 miles from the airport where you want to land you already set the frequency of the strip. I know that I have to use autopilot with nav also set. my questio is: how do I approach the airport in such a way that the autopilot engages? thank you

Then engage the a/p. Don't aim directly at the airport, because you can't know the runway in use until you do... providing the airport has an ILS, which will be on a different frequeny to the ATC
mrzippy
At 10 miles out, I would guess you are trying to catch the glide slope? This is assuming you have captured the localizer and it has turned you towards your runway. You want to be below the glideslope to capture it and I would guess about 1500 feet in altitude or so. You should be set up for landing with wheels down and flaps set in the correct position and proper landing speed. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
