Flight Tuning Question?

Would suggest you obtain a copy of the FS9 Aircraft Container SDK which explains this (and a whole lot more).

Basically, if there are no parameters which need to be altered (upwards or downwards), the values revert to the default (1.0) so there appears to be little need to include that particular section in the .cfg file.

That section can be altered - elevator effectiveness etc to your taste. I do it all the time. However some should be left alone unless you know what your doing.

You can always copy a section from a cfg file that has the section, set all parameters to 1 if necessary, then change specifics as you desire - mostly control effect, trim effectiveness. Many airplanes handle like crap wrt trim characteristics and elevator effectiveness especially

So if this section overrides the what is already in the cfg, then if it is added won't it effect the parameters in the cfg if that makes sense?

This also got me thinking what other things can be added to this section if it overrides what is in the cfg, might be worth experimenting.

I agree Mike, I have often changed the aircraft.cfg, I like to dabble with AI and at times I have to tweak things a bit to get them to fly right, sometimes a quick tweak other times a few hours till I get it right.

I once spent 2 days on a German sea plane that I changed to AI, I managed it in the end now funny enough I never use it lol.

Hi Tom, yes I should have said I only apply the 737 on some prop AI types.

I did make a mistake not long ago changing the air file, I added a second line so the aircraft had 2 different air files and it flew OK.

So did the sim only read the fist one and ignore the second?

example

sim=xx1

sim=yy1

"I like my aircraft to fly as realistic as possible.

So if it flies like a brick IRL, it should fly like a brick in FS2004.

If a B747 flies like a jet fighter, it's not really a simulator anymore..."

Finally someone with common sense ...

BUT many , many , many like it the other way around! and their motto is:

"Do not take it to seriously .." and do NOT simulate they rather play Video games on a Simulator.

Sincerely

But the difference - even a small one - is worth it!
