I think you may be asking the wrong question. The real answer lies in the ability of the power supply to deliver enough power at the rails the card will draw from, which may or may not be the case depending on the individual 750 watt supply. It should also be a very quiet (low electrical noise) unit that is very stable.

What is the rating on the 12V rail or rails?Your actual demand will depend on the other components of your system. If you have multiple SSD and HDs, you will need more power. If you have a lot of extras like sound cards, you will need more power. If you have an I5 8500 you may need less power than if you running an I9 9900K.

Asus suggests you need an 850 watt unit. If it were my expensive card, I would use a top name reliable power supply unit that is reviewed to have low noise and instability with at least 850 watts rating total and adequate power on the rails needed.

so i went to several PSU calculator sites and it seems the wattage use for my system is around 725W

So is my 750W too low ?

Since you overclock your CPU and have a power hungry GPU, I would get a 1000 watt

my cpu is i7 10700k so i guess i fall under the 750W probably not much extra room to spare

i have all cores clocked to 5.1 mhz

my current PSU is EVGA 750W gold G+

Yes, it's too low. You're going to have a problem sooner or later. dogdish has the answer...go straight to the 1000W as no calculation is precise enough to warrant anything else.

I agree also, as long as you are upgrading, go for 1000W. As a PSU gets close to its output limit, it is more likely to generate a dirtier output. These 3080 cards, by many reports, need very clean power. Give yourself some headroom. This is especially true since you overclock. Another reason to go for 1000W, as the heat builds up, the output may drop on some models. You may also have other USB devices that are using a bit of power. The headroom is good insurance.
