Paris Fly-by

Recommended Posts

I was flying in from London when I spotted the Eiffel Tower in the distance, and had to see it up close.

Jim - I don't know Paris very well, in fact, never been there, but that building just below the tail section of your aircraft, looks like it might be a government building. Maybe a good thing this wasn't RW, or you might have gotten some company in your site seeing needs! LOL

Well, that building is just the Trocadero, or Palais de Chaillot, a set of buildings which had been built at the occasion of the World's Fair by 1937 :):)

Fine vid on the other hand! I think you landed at Le Bourget airport?!!

Gérard Guichard, Dijon, Burgundy, France. i5 Intel processor, 4 Go of Ram, Nvidia GeForce 920MX, DirectX 12.0, and FSX Gold Edition with SP1, SP2. My personal flightsim website is at http://flightlessons.6te.net

Great vid indeed Jim! :cool::cool::cool:

Jim I agree!

You certainly have a knack with videos!! Very Very Nice!!

What scenery are you using?

Michael

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.

Hi Michael, It's just the stock FSX SE scenery here on our household computer . No high power stuff here. I wouldn't know how to use it if I had it. It can in no way be compared with the scenery that I see in your pictures. Yours is fantastic.

Jim - Now, this t-6 looks nice! I need to find me one of those for my collection! Very nice!

Thanks guys. Maybe this will help, I pulled it from the T-6 Read Me. It's by David Eckert. >>>> T-6G Texan for FSXA/Sp2

===============================================

FSXA T-6G Texan "civilian restoration"

Undoubtedly the most famous trainer of WW2,The T-6 is a big aircraft possessing a fuselage length of 29 ft and a wingspan of 42 ft the later being greater than some of the front line fighters of WW2, yet it has about half the horsepower. As a trainer it could punish as quickly as it rewarded yet once a pilot qualified in a Texan, they could qualify in any aircraft. Built using the fsx acceleration sdk with fsds and fsdstweak.

I recommend this T-6 highly. Here's a short video I did practicing 3 point landings, and even trying to touch the tail wheel first. Fun, fun, fun ! :)

Turn up your sound, so that you can get a feel for my "Throttle Management" while touching down. :pilot:

Jim - I think that is how a lot of us learned how to land a tail dragger! Tailwheel first and the main will follow!

Now, your name is on the video, so you must have downloaded from where?????? I tried some key words on this site's library, no luck! If you would point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it! Nice video and I do love the sound of that big ole radial!

Thanks - Rick

Rick, it's from, one of these two sites >>>>

https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads.html , or https://simviation.com/1/front-page

Let me know if you can't find it, and I'll be glad to help you out further. It's a wonderful aircraft that you will really enjoy.

Jim

Okay, I found it, I like it, but I have never downloaded the FSX acceleration disk. I think that would throw my computer over the edge in trying to handle it. I did find another, but OMG, I'm either going to have to find a replacement panel or rework most of it myself. Trouble is, there are4 different panel.cfg files, 2 are BAK files, but to tell you the truth, what I am seeing when opening up the T-6, I've tried to comment out // a few gauges to determine which cfg panel is controlling the aircraft functions. It's a mess, but it will keep me busy and it will end up being the way I want it!

Thanks Jim, enjoy your aircraft! You are coming up with some real nice "keepers," for sure!

Jim

Jim - Do me a favor. I have replaced most of the instruments in this T-6 and it is now flyable. See what kind of cruise speed you get and note the RPM and MP settings to go along with it. I just want to make sure this download coincides with yours. I have a few more things to do before I do the debut thing. Oh, if i click the back arrow, I see somebody staring at me. Is there a way to look inside of that cockpit? If so, are there instruments in that rear area? You didn't by chance get a checklist or reference file with your download, did you?

Okay, thanks Jim, looking forward to having fun with this bad boy! - Rick

OK Rick, I'll check on these things first thing tomorrow morning.

Jim

Cruise

[ ] Throttle - use 27inHg and 1700 rpm or 28-1800. With proper leaning of peak (50-100 degrees rich of peak) will yield 23 to 25 gallons per hour

[ ] Trim for Cruise - Neutral trim is 155 to 160 mph in cruise config

[ ] Fuel Selector - switch from left to right tank at timed intervals to keep aircraft balanced

Maybe the CFG file might also help some for now >>>>

fsds_t-6.zip Think it's the same you have. Very strange, if you search in the library for "T6 Conrad" You'll find this, but if you copy and past the link and click on it, it doesn't work...... HELP

Jan, I would love to view what's in that link, but it's not working for me ? ? ? - Jim

Jim - Forget getting back to me, I got everything to go the way i wanted, and then had issues with the main landing tires sinking into the asphalt on takeoff and landings. I tried another and it was the same! I'll just stick with what i have for now! If I get anxious, I might try the download that Jan is referencing, but I won't spend much time if it starts having issues!

OK Rick, I understand completely. Tires sinking into runway. I hate when that happens. :(

Jim

I have had tires sink into the asphalt while the aircraft was sitting still, you can correct that with the "contact points" section of the aircraft config.

These models were perfectly fine sitting still, but when you powered up for takeoff, and did an outside view, the faster the aircraft got, the deeper the tires would go into the runway. Same with landing, when the tires touched down, the longer the aircraft was on the runway, the deeper the tires got!

I just got fed up with it, had to re-do almost every instrument to where you could fly them, and then to have that happen! I have too many good solid aircraft that can be flown without issue, I don't need these to give me headaches!

Anyway, we are all enjoying your screenshots and videos, keep up the good work!

Thanks - Rick

I know how ugly that looks. A few months ago I had a great flying A-10 Warthog do the same thing. I couldn't stand it, so I dumped it. There are so many beautiful planes out there without problems, why waste time with the ugly ones.

Anyway, I plan to back off a little with the videos here. I enjoy picture taking and making videos as part of the Sim hobby; but I don't want to become a bore here in this forum, and i'm going to slow down a little. It's a great little chat forum here at the Screen Shot Forum, and I don't want to lose that privilege.

Adios my friend - Jim

No JIm PLEASE DON'T GO OR EVEN SLOW DOWN!! Regular contributors are a huge part of what makes this forum interesting!!! IMO, we could use more members like you, not less from you! ;)

Thanks Michael. I just don't want to offend either the moderators or the membership here. As a newbie, I have found a nice little chat group that I am enjoying very much, and would just like to keep it that way.

Thank you for your kind words.

Jim
