StringBean
These are from my first chance to fly in the sim in at least six months, hence the thread title. I decided to fly this beauty for some VFR flightseeing. I headed south from KRNT towards the Portland area. Starting to question the quality of my weather briefing. This flight was so reminiscent of many flights made in FS9, exploring Holger Sandmann's Columbia River Gorge scenery in the Bill Lyons Travel Air. This is the Golden Age Simulations TA D4D and Orbx PNW. After leaving Orbx-land we have to choke down the ugly default ground, at least the plane looks nice. I decided to upgrade the panel to a nice bookmatched bird's eye maple. Not 100% pleased with the results, will have to find a better texture when time allows. My next flight was to be an IFR refresher in this beauty. This shot was between weather systems. Unfortunately FSX froze and I got an error message I had not seen before. Something like "Unable to read file [OK]". I clicked on OK and FSX disappeared. No problem, FSUIPC auto save would allow me to pick up a few miles back. Imagine my concern when I clicked on the FSX icon on my Taskbar and was told the shortcut location did not exist. Panic struck in when I opened Windows Explorer and did not see my FSX drive listed. Luckily moving the drive cable to a new mobo port and switching to a different lead from the PSU seems to have fixed it. More happy days! I know, I know, I should have done one change at a time so I know which one was the culprit. Next time. Anywho, thanks for looking. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? KCD
Great shots of the plane, Bean, your attempt at bird's eye maple is interesting and not bad, although I agree with you, it could be improved. Knowing you, it will be! Loved the shots, even if it was FSX.
