Quick compatibility question...

Hi,

I have just purchased a new i7-4790 with a GTX 750Ti and 16GB with SSD's and before I go an setup FSX I wondered if I would be better off with a Prepar3d license/installation instead of FSX. Would I getter better FPS on the new hardware with Prepar3d as I know FSX is CPU bound..

If so, are the following known as compatible:-

PMDG737-800 NGX

ORBX Global, Vector, OpenLC, Europe_ENG

These are the only real add-on's I am interested in reinstalling on my new rig..

Let me know your thoughts...

PC: i7-4790 QUAD Core HT 3.60Ghz, 16GB RAM, Corsair Supernova GS 650w PSU, Gigabyte GTX 970 Mini ITX, 128GB SSD (Win7 x64), 500GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD (FSX+Addons)

Monitor: 3 x 23" IPS NVidia Surround 5880x1024, 1 x 19" 16:9

Addons: Saitek Yoke, Pedals, Jetmax TQ, FDS CDU, FDS MX MCP, iVibe TFS3, Prosim:737

I think you'd gt better results with P3D without question.

Yes to the ORBX products - perhaps someone else can jump in re PMDG737 - I know that some of their a/chave been released for P3D but I don't fly the tubes so I'm not sure.

Great thanks..

I am thinking P3D as its being constantly developed. FSX is just too buggy for me.

Do you know if TrackIR is also supported?

I hope to eventually get a Jetmax 737 Single Seat Training Device and according to FDS there are no concerns..

Can the 2 installations co-exist?

I use it all the time.

I still have (but rarely run) FSX on my system.

If you like flying and during the flight the sim locks up, CTD's or does other weird unpredictable stuff, stick with FSX. If you like to start the sim and run it for hours and land with zero problems, then get P3D. That's my observation so far. ;)

I read somewhere that you have to trick PMDG installer to make it believe FSX is installed in the Prepared directory.

Is this correct as I already have FSX + PMDG737 installed but want to install it into Prepar3d.?

They have dedicated installers for P3D. The FSX trick doesn't work and would be against their license if it did.
