  1. Great concept! I'll have to give it a try. Perhaps I can find one of Jan's old float planes in my "Borrowed from Jan Hanger" Michael
  2. I have ORBX for most of the world and find if I fly somewhere I don't already have it, I really miss it Be careful though. You'll quickly spend more than you thought you might!
  3. True, Having said that, we're entering either way. Perhaps Challenges?
  4. I'm glad several of you enjoyed this short challenge! Hopefully there will be more to come! And yes, I'm already scouring my old history to find another challenge as well. Though the next one probably won't have as much challenge per minute as this one did. Michael Hey RW and sim pilots, I'm sure you have some fond memories. Please post them for the rest of us to try!
  5. I enjoyed the shots. As an old H-46 pilot who also had some H2P hours in H-34s I'm always interested in the new ride. Having said that, the Osprey doesn't seem to be very well respected as of late. I was scheduled to go for a ride in one during the Ky. Derby Festival a couple of years ago. Sadly that got shut down because of the Covid issues.
  6. What a wonderful concept!! I'll join up ASAP in my Spitfire! I just hope I can cure the bug that kept me from posting flights recently!! Michael
  7. Yes, I have the "Battle of Britain Spitfire" and it's very easy to bend the prop. It's much closer to the deck than any RW single engine fixed wing's prop that I ever flew.
  8. I look forward to the details! Sam Weigel, a long time commercial airline Captain authored the article for FLYING. He, his wife, and their local guides flew the trip in a pair of 180 hp Cessna 180's. He stated that for a flight this risky they, the tour operators, always took two planes for safety. And I agree. Even "flying" a sim NZMF is a hand-full to deal with!! And no, a Baron isn't the ideal plane either!
  9. Regardless of the sim you use I have a short but very interesting flying challenge for sim folks to try. It's only 41 miles and I can't claim it was my idea, I copied it from a real world article in FLYING MAGAZINE. Using the light weight fixed wing aircraft of your choice takeoff from NZQN in Queenstown (New Zealand of course) to land at NZMF. (Milford Sound). HINT: I hugely suggest you select an aircraft with a pretty short takeoff and landing capability!! A really good power to weight ratio also helps a ton! It took me several attempts to land correctly in my Beechcraft Baron with "enable damage" turned on. A "Carbon Cub" or some equivalent plane would have been a much better choice. Having said that, using ORBX scenery with P3D, the views are certainly breathtaking! Drop a note to tell us how it worked out for you. Michael
  10. Congratulations to MELO965 as well! I did that a few years ago in an Around The World in 80 Days sim Rally. The concept was to go to all the spots Fogg reached on his trip. Various sims and various sim vehicles were employed. The two most common vehicle were aircraft, boat, & land craft combinations. I have a much shorter but very interesting flying challenge for sim folks to try. It's only 41 miles and I can't claim it was my idea, I copied it from a real world article in FLYING MAGAZINE. Using the light weight fixed wing aircraft of your choice takeoff from NZQN in Queenstown (New Zealand of course) to NZMF. (Milford Sound). 11. Leaving on a Jet Plane. Don't know when I'll be back again. That's a classic old song from back when jet airliners were fairly new. This is a wonderful rendition of a newer jet can be. Well posted! But frankly as a traveling airline passenger, I'd much rather that more dual aisle aircraft were still flying!! Michael
  12. Buy an External Hard Drive Reader with a USB port. Pull the old hard drive/s out, put one in the reader, plug the reader into your current computer's USB port, you can choose to either save info to your current hard drive or leave it where it is and access it with the reader to save or retrieve data as you wish. It will work fine either way, though read or write response time is not as fast as when using a true internal hard drive.
  13. Nice shots! And yes, pleased to say I've been to a few of those places RW, mostly in a H-46 and they are fairly well depicted. Having said that, lucky for you these are sim shots. For some reason authorities all over the world started to really freak out when we fly under bridges over the last few years. Michael
  14. OMG!! what an interesting concept! Having said that, my first concern is based on the rotor blades going super-sonic and self-destructing. At 100% RPM the blade tips of most chopper rotor blades are already near going supersonic. So the added forward speed from the pusher props could really be a hazard. Perhaps using the wing for lift while moving forward would allow the rotor speed to be hugely reduced. Otherwise I see a huge blade destruct issue there.
  15. Done that as well. Though when I did it the paint and siding was in better shape. Come to think of it, so was I!
