Installed AS16 and now they both talk to one another. Will take a test flight soon. Thanks again to everyone who tried to help. I'm just glad to get through it OK.

That worked!!. FSX runs OK. Now to install AS16 again and see what happens. Fingers crossed. Thank you very much for your help.

I think I've figured out what went wrong. Once I downloaded the 2-files, SP1 and SP2, I didn't do anything more to them. They were just stored in my PC waiting for me to do something. I repeated the whole process over, and discovered this to be true. Now the question is, what do I do with them? Where are they supposed to reside? I assume somewhere withing the FSX program files, but I don't know where. One at a time, tell me what to do with SP1 (fsx_sp1_ENU), an Application file. Next, SP2 (fsx_sp2_ENU), a Windows Installer file. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I don't see this sub-folder either on the program disks 1 or 2, nor in the program files stored on the hard drive. What is the typical name of one of your files in the Redlist directory?

The important thing to note is the message in the small window to the right. It says, "Cannot load SimConnect" Unable to load any managed SimConnect interface. Simulator connectivity is not possible. Please check your simulator/SimConnect installation." You can see FSX runs OK and AS16 runs Ok, they just don't work together. It sounds like the "SimConnect" will solve the problem. Sorry for the mess this has become.

I downloaded SP1 and SP2 from Mr. Zippy's links. Tried to run FSX and got the "error 1-80004005 again, so unistalled SP2 and FSX ran OK. Then I installed AS16 again. I also installed ASConnect as directed. It ran OK. FSX ran OK but there was a message like "cannot connect" because of simconnect not loaded. I'm not sure where to look for a file named "simconnect" but I'm guessing in FSX program. Can anyone tell me where to look? Thanks.

So far, I have not uninstalled FSX since it is running OK now. Before I try to install AS16 again, I need answers to these question. (1. How can I look to see if I have "accel" or SP's or not? (2. What function do these programs, files, or folders, have to do with FSX? (3. Could they apply to other programs not associated with FSX? (4. Should I go ahead anyway and unistall FSX? (5. If I do, I will have the same questions above to ask. Thanks for any help you can give. And BTW, note this event. A couple years ago, Microsoft installed Windows 10 Pro on my computer over Windows XP Professional which I was using. They did this without my knowledge or without my permission when I was away from the computer a few hours. That's why I am running Windows 10. I wouldn't think this had anything to do with the problems I've been having, but one can never tell in this fantisy-land of technology known as computers. I am not using a "network". I found 3-files in question. on the list of programs. 'ASConnect for FSX'; MS FSX SDK; and MS FSXSP2. I uninstalled all three and now, FSX flight simulator is back running like is was before I tried to install AS16. That's it for a while. This has done a number on my nerves. I've tried to explore instead of uninstall FSX right now. See PrtScn of installed programs per request. Also, I found the file where you noted. file, dem4km.bgl, size is 4371 kb. I am not able to find "WindowsExplorer" to try to do what you suggested. How do I find it? I only have "file explorer" and theres no place to display properties. We, (YOU), might solve this problem in spite of my lack of knowledge inside computers. I did recieve the CD/DVD backup disk for AS16 today. Now, I just need to get FSX running again. Boy, I'll tell you. If I had to go through this kind of stuff 65 years ago when I recieved my pilot's liscens to fly a real airplane, I doubt I would have ever gotten to fly. Any how, I do appreciate your help. Also thanks to Mr. Zippy. Will wait to hear how to go further.

Well Jethrom, take the word "Fourth" and change the uppercase letter "F" to a lowercase letter-case "f", then you will understand what I mean. (haahhaa!!)

That's good news. I've never seen a folder name ending in "Cache" before. I'm going to sit on it a couple days, then will probably try to uninstall FSX and start all over. In the meantime I hope you and Jethrom have a nice Fourth of July. Back later. Gipper

Mr. Zippy. Thanks. A question for you. When I used your links to download SP1 and SP2, afterwards, I found the location of SP2 in the MSFSX folder under subfolder "Setup". Two folders under this. One, titled "DX" and the other, "SP2Cache". Would the SP2Cache have any bearing on the problems I face?

Jethrom, I do appreciate your time on this problem I have, but its not working. I changed the uppercase letters as you pointed out. I clicked OK, and restarted the computer. It asked me for an activation key which I don't have. I closed, and now I've been notified the following: FSX.CFG could not run and could not write FSX.CFG. and another notice, "Dem4km.bgl" is missing or damaged. Reinstall Flight Simulator to Restore or Repair the file. I did and now FSX will not start at all. I give up. Gipper

Sorry for the trouble, but I don't have a Windows "start" key. But I figured out to click on lower Windows Flag, I can pan down and find a list of Windows Options. I choose "run" as you mentioned, not having any idea what it would do. It worked. I finally was able to figure out how to find what you wanted to look at and attached it herewith. I does say "PartMgr".

So, how do I get to this page? Is this the registry of the computer? or what?

Sorry, I thought I had logged out. Needed to get away for a while. Now back. Jethrom, I don't know how to get to the "registry key" you ask for. Why don't we just figure this out to start with. What is it? Where is it? why do you need it? etc.

Trying to load scrn shots

I do not have FSX Steam Edition installed on my PC. I remembered this morning that I do have MSflight simulator 98 (FS98) installed but haven't touch it since installing FSX Delux. Now back to the problem. I'm going to try to post some scrn shots of what happens. First - I click on normal FSX incon bottom of screen. That generates the normal picture but with ERROR MESSAGE 1-80004005. I click on YES and it goes to the screen showing FSX Steam Edition. see pic. Click out of that and it goes to opening screen where I click "Load" and pick previous flight. I will fly that plane for 30 to 35 minutes, and it will STOP. Gives me the message, "Time Limit Expired." Activate program......Click "Yes" and the program ends. So. heres the pics, if I'm lucky. pic. 1 - opening screen and 1-80004005 error code pic. 2 - shows Program title as FSX Steam Edition pic. 3 - shows message "Sure You Want to Exit" Yes/No. pick Yes, and it stops. UNABLE TO LOAD PICS. - must resize then submit. Will do in a little while. Sorry...

I have the following version: FSX Delux Edition Two-disk Program I don't have any other versions that I am aware of. The "trial version for FSX Steam" just appeared. I am trying to use FSX Delux Edition with ActiveSky AS16 When I installed AS16, it worked OK FSX was working OK But they did not work together. I uninstalled AS16, then things started going wrong. I installed your SP-1 and SP-2. I think that was OK. But error messages 1-80004005 showed up. Now it shows up when I click on FSX incon and gives me a 30 minute trial flight using FSX Steam. Then tells me I need to activate the program which I do not have. I've been running FSX Delux since December 2016 without any problems. Started running out of memory recently. Decided to reinstall FSX Delux "over" my already installed program to solve the OOM problem. I solved that by adjusting FSX settings. Reduces Graphics and Scenery from 100% to 80% and that gave me back the memory. I do not know anything else to do.

Two questions. It took 1-hour to download SP-1. Does this sound normal? I downloaded SP-2. By dumbness, I did it 4 times. Now I'm sure if I really did download it or if they conflict with each other. It took just a few minutes to download SP-2. What do you think?

Thanks guys but I'm just going to wait a while. I can't afford to go in the wrong direction. Please remember, I'm not trying to install a new program now. I'm just trying to get my FSX back running again instead of being given a 30 minute trial run with FSX Steam Edition. I don't know where that came from or how it got substituted for my normal FSX icon. So, I'm just going to wait. A CD/DVD version of AS16 is on its way. Maybe this will help once I get FSX running correctly again. 'til then' I'll be watching for any other thoughts. Bye for now.

I don't have any idea what you are talking about. FSX or AS16. I've had FSX Delux installed and running just fine for several years. Now, I'm having this trouble after trying to download AS16. i don't know where to look for the number you listed, nor do I have any idea what it is supposed to do. Can you elaborate a little? Thanks.

Now I find that running FSX is a "temperary trial" version and quits in 30 minutes. IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN JUST START ALL OVER?

I'm not aware of installing Acceleration in the past. However, I do see this in the "User's Guide" of AS16. "Note that AS16 requires SimConnect SP2 or Acceleration Mangaged Client when used with FSX. SimConnect SP1 is not supported. If you do not have SP2/Acceleration client properly installed, you may not get a proper connection to FSX (i.e. "Waiting for Simulator" even when FSX is runninging). {i am getting this message in FSX}. cont....."SimConnect client installer is available in the FSX/P3D SDK (for FSX this must be from SP1/Acceleration SDK version) as a .msi file which can be copied to and run on the client. There is further to talk about SimConnect installation. I do not see this Folder in FSX. I do see it in AS16. Does this help?
