  1. Howdy folks! I'm currently writing a piece, possibly a short story in the making. It's mostly about gliding, but really, in spirit, about flying in SoCal in general. If you have a particular experience you'd like to share and feel could fit in that theme please let me know. Thanks, Ben Lazerson
  2. I don't believe I've ever seen a rotor whirl object before. I've seen parachute drop towers, control towers, fire towers, office towers, transmission towers, tv towers, radio towers, and hotel towers, but no rotors. You may want to take a look at hovercontrol on the wayback machine. Are you doing the Sikorsky factory?
  3. I have another one for you- I did Helendale AAF Aux in California the other day. http://www.airfields-freeman.com/CA/Airfields_CA_PalmdaleN.htm#helendale

This is a compilation of several airports I've already uploaded. Jim Dhaenens airport buildings, CalClassic libraries, MAIW libraries, and ORBX PNW demo (freeware from ORBX) required. Several gliderports in Southern California, including: -Mountain Valley in Tehachapi -Crystal in Crystalaire -El Mirage as it was in 1979 -Warner Springs -Jacumba -Torrey Pines as it was in the 1960s -Lake Elsinore -Antelope Valley Soaring Club

Jim Dhaenens airport buildings and ORBX PNW demo (freeware from ORBX) required. Home to the Southern California Soaring Academy, located in a perfect spot for ridge flying.
  6. hey viperpilot, I've been using ADE for years now! please let me know if you have any questions. Phrogphlyer is also quite knowledgeable. I'd recommend just jumping in and clicking buttons- it's pretty intuitive program. I run the sim in fullscreen

No third party libraries required. Extremely simple representation of the long-closed Helendale #2 AAF Auxiliary airfield near Victorville, home since the 1980s to Lockheed's Helendale RCS facility. The RCS facility is not represented in this depiction, just the airfield. See Abandoned & Little Known Airfield's page for more info.

Jim Dhaenens airport buildings and ORBX PNW demo (freeware from ORBX) required- Orbx for the animated wind turbines. Home to the Skylark North gliding school, vintage glider collections, and the annual Vintage Sailplane Association's regatta. Learn more at Skylark North's website (and drop in for a sandwich or a ride if you're in Tehachapi) and consider joining the Vintage Sailplane Association! Runways and taxiways corrected, runway bearing corrected, landclass and roads added, navaids including nearby gas stations, wind turbines, a hotel, and more detailed components of the cement plant added.
  9. Thanks for compiling and organizing this!
  10. Apparently that restaurant was opened by the same gentleman who created the Proud Bird at LAX
  11. Is that a Thorp next to your super cub?
  12. I think it's a franchise, there's still one at KMYF in San Diego.
