    SCENERY

Do you get like an intro type screen that pops up and when you select the install option nothing happens?
  2. Can you mention the file as it may help others in the future? A lot of components required to run old software have been dropped in Win 10/11. To get things working often needs manual intervention which quite possibly appears to have been your case.
  3. Activation server might've shut down. Try another time and/or keep trying to contact them. This is what happens in time and why I never supported online anything.
  4. Can be a million reasons something won't install. More information. Where does it go wrong during the install?
  5. You should need to do nothing more to get FS9 running than: 1. Install FS9 2. Update to v9.1 with official patch 3. Download and replace the original fs9.exe in your main FS9 directory with the nocd version. That's it!
  6. I'm the same, never leave it to the installer but the VOZ system works well. It's good to have VOZ because you can also easily select a VOZ region for a different FS look for other areas of the world.
  7. You should've left it to the installer. It works well. The splash screen is for when you have that region selected. If installed correctly, it'll only show when you select the SW Region through the switcher. It allows you to immediately see if you have VOZ active upon FS launch. As I said, if you leave it to the installer and switcher everything works. I didn't like the water textures VOZ uses but you can fix that as well. There is also a guide in the manual for a full uninstall.
  8. Are there more MSFS users in this thread than FS2004 users? On the topic, I'm not stuck in the past. I'm just stuck in a happy place! Why would I want to get out? Long Live FS2004!
  9. You need to run the 4gb patch in FS2004 and you should never see this problem. https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371 Patch should absolutely be run for FSX but won't solve the VAS problem. It'll only reduce it as FSX will still use more memory than 4gb. VAS and CPU speed are the 2 reasons I don't use FSX and stick to FS2004. "Possibly" one day CPU won't be an issue in FSX but VAS will never have a cure.
  10. Not issues with missing the F1View module? https://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library
  11. This copyright thing across the board is totally ridiculous. There is no consistency to any of it.
  12. Maybe the guy who created it just used the ORBX name to get downloads initially.
  13. Jim, I have a notification you quoted me but your post is gone. POOF! Honestly, come join us, we are so happy here and you could be too! I'd love to have you join the fun!
  14. Clearly 100% wrong! lol Pretty easy to see from activity across the internet the Microsoft flight sim popularity runs per release date back to FS2002. (MSFS, FSX, FS9, FS2002.) You have to take into account the sample base if conducting a survey. Very few FS9/F2002 users would have been involved in that survey so the results would be totally unreliable regarding FS2002 and FS2004. Most of the world will run to MSFS. I don't deny this but what the majority of the world wants is graphics and the latest and the greatest. It's not just flight sims, it's anything. Been like this forever. Over the past few years however, many people have come to the realization the latest and greatest is often not the greatest, it's only the latest. There are many benefits to not rushing forward. Some are considering a little more why they are rushing forward and thinking about what they are leaving behind. I'm not just using an old flight sim. I have many things in my life I have not moved forward with. Once I came to the realization I mentioned above and considered the true pros and cons of each, I find I'm moving forward with more and more things less and less. On almost all occasions, I find I am very, very happy while those who are still charging forward are constantly complaining and miserable. That's their choice.
  15. You are watering things down. No, they come here to tell use we are behind the times and should move on with the rest of the world. People can use whatever sim they want. I really don't care but people can't handle reality. FS9 is a strong flight sim across the board. There is absolutely no way anyone can say this honestly about MSFS. It has graphics and lags behind in a million other areas. I accept FS9 for what it is. MSFS users don't. Let's face it, you are all wanting from your sim, wanting things to be better and improved. You are not a happy bunch.
  16. When there is an almost 2 decade newer version available of what we use, of course we will discuss why we haven't bothered to change. We are also soooo happy and we like to express it. Why do those who have gone to an almost 2 decade newer version still even come here to check on what happens in this forum?
  17. How come every time I say the above someone jumps in and says I don't know what I am talking about as I have never even tried it? lol MSFS has nothing other than graphics. Personally, even the graphics don't tempt me. The clouds look terrible imo and there is nothing more annoying than flying over places where Bing maps shows problems with the scenery. I'd rather have consistent lower quality scenery than higher quality scenery with a bunch of flaws. It would be a novelty to whizz around gaming style for maybe an hour or so in MSFS and then I would be totally done with it. FS9 we have it all and as far as I'm concerned, even better graphics!
  18. Really? WOW! Does he know people still play Atari games?
  19. Official not opinion, no offense. There are active links here which were not removed. I just checked and they are still here and still active. I couldn't believe this site left them up. As an opinion, I play many games and the older the age group the more concerned they are over such things. I only recently came across something I created 23 years ago being posted without my permission. Couldn't believe it was still online. Does it matter? Heck no. I'm more amazed someone found it useful enough to download 23 years on. All the best to them!
  20. There were, probably still are, 2 payware product download links on this site left totally active. Developer was gone but the product was never released as freeware. I don't know what the stance is here? I would like to see some official clarification.
  21. Mark wants a flight sim! You don't need to own something to determine it's quality. MSFS was a complete joke on release and probably still is. If not for the graphics, are you telling me people seriously would've bought it? C'mon, you're being silly now. No one would've touched it. I have no idea where it is today but I'm sure really basic things are still totally missing. Are seasons available yet? Is weather available that is not realtime so you can sync flight weather to time of flight? Can you fill major airports with AI like you can in FS9? Throwing some simple things out there. It's lucky I don't own it cause then I could really tell you how much it's lacking. Oh, just realized, aren't we talking about a redundant sim? Isn't MSFS getting replaced? So much for 10 years out of it! Empty your pockets again and welcome all the new bugs the new version brings! Have fun!
  22. MSFS people chase graphics. Let's face it, if MSFS had poor graphics absolutely no one would buy it as it has nothing to offer over any of the other flight sims. It totally lags behind. I'll never switch from FS9 and I know I'll never have enough time to ever explore all the add-ons I wish to explore. The graphics may not be the latest in FS9 but in every other way, it's simply the most perfect flight sim for me. That's not saying FS9 graphics are bad, they simply aren't modern. I love what I see in FS9. There are many add-ons available but OP has not even returned to acknowledge anyone.
  23. I don't have WOAANEV1.zip or any of the one's that got pulled by WOAI. Been chasing them forever so if anyone has any of those please...
  24. You can buy external CD drives and they are very cheap for those who wish to install via CD's but no longer have a CD drive.
