  1. Hi, Get well soon, Robin. I've heard and read several stories like yours. I know colleagues at work who lost loved ones, young people... I've read in local news about people, younger than me, healthy, into sports... who died... People who, months later, still can't take a flight of stairs, without having to stop midway, completely out of breath. And still... I know some who can't, won't believe this is real. It continues to anger me how they rather believe online crap of origin "unknown", than what actual medical experts say... Anyway, @CRJ_simpilot, you may want to look at this: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/is-there-really-any-benefit-to-multivitamins TL;DR Don't eat vitamin pills, eat healthy foods... For vitamin D that's oily fish, salmon, spinach, soybeans... Regards, DDP.
  2. Hi, About wide angles, zoom, viewpoints etc., here a good read. http://www.calclassic.com/sci_tutorial/index.html At the bottom there's a method to calculate the correct zoom for wide screens. DDP.

    ATC & ILS Issues

Hi, Normally, there should be a keyboard shortcut for this. Go into Controls - Assignments, choose Instrument Commands from the dropdown and check Heading Indicator (Reset). And while you're there also check Altimeter (Reset), to autotune the altimeter pressure. Mine are set to "D" and "B" (don't remember if that's the default). So your gyro and altimeter are realigned at the press of a key... And about ATC, I follow the RW procedures and ignore the ATC commands. I only use it to keep the runway clear when I come in to land. DDP.
  4. Hi, IMHO, VCs don't suck if they're well done (obviously). My PSS B757 and FT E175 VCs don't suck, my FS9 PMDG737 VC does suck, because the overhead is mostly flat with textures over it, no 3D buttons... Same for the DF727 VC. But then, most of my dialing and FMC stuff is done on the 2D panel. And I've already mentioned this in another thread, with TrackIR, when set up right, you lean forward (= zoom in the VC panel) but the outside stays the same (=doesn't zoom in)... Regards, DDP.

    ATC & ILS Issues

Hi, Just did a quick landing with the stock C172 on PHOG ILS RWY2. Didn't use ATC, set up NAV1 to 110.10 and a course of 24 Magnetic. I had a normal landing... straight in, no offset. What aircraft were you flying? Is the sim set to use magnetic headings, maybe it accidentally got set to true headings? Regards, DDP.
  6. Hi, Doesn't LWMViewer show which bgl files are loaded at the aircraft location, once you connect it to FS9? That's what I use to find out which airport background and flatten files I need to append in SBuilder when editing an airport. Regards, DDP.
  7. Hi, According to the official CYQX charts, both ILS approaches would have you at around 1600ft, 3-4NM out. You come in at or above 2600ft and intercept the GS some 8-9NM out. Your VS should be around -700fpm to follow the GS (3.00 degrees). Regards, DDP.

    Landing lights

Hi, You can also do edits to the aircraft.cfg (lights, contact point... ) from within MCX (version 1.4) and view the changes right away. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxVPI0IVSz0 DDP.
  9. Hi, Yes, but that doesn't matter, it's only to show the position of the CG target at ~25%MAC. DDP.
  10. Hi, And POSKY aircraft usually come overloaded... Station load and fuel maxed out, so you'll be way over MTOW, unless you edit those numbers. Check the FS9 Fuel & Payload window. If you count 175lbs/pax, you can set the pax load stations to a realistic number. And check the CG in the Fuel & Payload window as well, should be around 25-30%MAC, like this: If not, you may need to play with the empty_weight_CG_position value and/or the wing_pos_apex_lon value in the [airplane_geometry] section. Regards, DDP.
  11. Hi, And especially thanks for continuing to support FS9. DDP.
  12. Hi, I use sloped flatten polys (LWM3) with SBuilder v205 to flatten cliffs just enough. But it's a time consuming trial and error process... Regards, DDP.

    Volpar

Hi, To try out new contact point settings (or other aircraft.cfg changes) you don't need to restart the whole sim... I have FS9 running, Alt-Tab to the aircraft.cfg, make my change, save the .cfg, Alt-Tab back and then just reload the aircraft, sometimes using another livery, but that's not necessary. If you're editing AFCADs or scenery you do need to restart FS9. Here's a guide to correctly setting up contact points, reply #5: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/14301-Contact-Points-Tutorial Regards, DDP.
  14. Hi, Forgot to add to copy the file in your TVSV scenery folder... DDP.
  15. Hi, Finally got an approach code for RWY25. It's a curved approach, with a ~30 degree left turn on short final... There is a catch... It'll only work with the stock terrain mesh. If you have a payware/freeware mesh installed you'll still fly through the terrain. I had to deactivate my FSGlobal for this. It seems the high terrain is a lot higher with a more realistic mesh... It's mainly made for the AI, but of course you can load it in the GPS and fly it as well. But be prepared for a few GPWS warnings... Here's the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yJtuUh9oJrupGalGZVasXKxBT5bu5Kpq/view?usp=sharing Regards, DDP.
  16. Hi, Beat me to it... :) That would be the realistic solution, and there's no mountains on either runway end there. Of course you will need to edit AI flightplans for AI to show up at TVSA. Also, I like a challenge, so I'll try to make an approach code for RWY25. Regards, DDP.
  17. Hi, Double 5 recently... ;) DDP.
  18. Hi, There is no approach code for this airport. The AI uses a default approach, which ignores terrain. As Tom said, single end operations don't work in FS9 (I wonder if it's finally possible in MSFS?)... If you want to close a runway with AFCAD or ADE, you have to close both ends for takeoff or landing. An approach code could be written for RWY25, either a straight in (if possible), or a curved approach. That way, AI would at least stop flying through terrain. But it would have to be ILS code, for AI to always use it. Regards, DDP.
  19. Hi, How does their activation work for those old addons? Some kind of offline serial nr. or online activation crap? Regards, DDP.
  20. Hi, I always install FS9 addons that use an installer in a dummy folder. I rename my real FS9 folder and then give the dummy folder my real FS9 folder name. After the installation I manually copy the files and folders to the real FS9 folder, checking that nothing gets overwritten by an older version. Some Wilco/FT installs do that with WX gauge and gps_export.dll files. So I always know what exactly gets installed and where... Regards, DDP.
  21. +1 Hi, I found out about HJG only last year, after I got interested in 3-engine jetliners, the L-1011 and later the B727. And they came with this INS (which I didn't know about until then) and working WX radars, and those great panels... I'm sticking with FS9 for now. I may give FS2020 a try, eventually, when (if?) it'll be "finished". Regards, DDP.
  22. Hi, There's also this interesting freebie: https://secure.simmarket.com/flysimware-1966-old-school-skylane-cessna-182k-fs2004.phtml Regards, DDP.
  23. Hi, Also, to make sure, you can use Traffic Toolbox to delete that aircraft in flight and check what other AIs are then doing. If they can't/won't land then it's an approach problem... About AI FDE... I once read a discussion about that. From that I learned that for most AI devs (freeware/payware) FDE is an afterthought, as long as it has a nice flare on landing... Regards, DDP.
  24. Hi, Here's a thread about their B707 and liveries not displaying... https://tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/8324/b707-720-simulation-display-read Regards, DDP.
  25. Hi, The CG TDS set is at minus(!) 34%MAC, just a bit outside the envelope... Also, the wing_pos_apex_lon is set just ahead of the main gear, it should be where the leading edges of the wings meet at the center line, more to the front of the aircraft. Illustration here: https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/wing_pos_apex_lon-empty_weight_cg_position.442454/ Here's the changes in the aircraft.cfg In [WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE] empty_weight_CG_position = -58.94, 0, 0 In [airplane_geometry] wing_pos_apex_lon = -39.59 With payload left as is, full wing tanks and center tank at some 30%, CG is now around 27%MAC. Takeoff without problems, flaps 5 and normal trim up. DDP.
