  1. Reviving an old thread. I need the FSX SDK for the MCX package - I'm trying to set up a few static aircraft to represent the collection at Temora Museum. When I tried to run MCX it came up with the error "Failed to locate FSX XtoMDL, please update the path in the options". This inferred the SDK was not installed. I tried to follow the instructions given above - Disk1 and Accelerator Disk2 but immediately found my DVD's did NOT show any of the files mentioned!!! (See attached images) The SDK folder on Disk 1 contained a sdk.msi and a setup.exe - I installed this (???) but the installation of SDK sp2 still asked for SP1A Hmmm, after messing about for a long time I managed to find a download of the SDK SP1A (from AVSIM) and a copy of the SDK sp2. I'm pleased to say these appeared to install OK. I hope I can now move forward.Summary: Download the SDK's and install them - forget the DVD's!
  2. All four of the flying Spitfires in Australia gathered together at Temora. What a sight (and sound!!)
  3. OK but is there any better scenery for MSFS??? I think I'll stick to flying under bridges
  4. Hanger #2 falling apart, Hanger #3 open but full of junk??
  5. Looks interesting, but only the north door of Hanger 1 is open - no way out!!!
  6. Loki, Thanks for that. It looks like the doors on Hanger 1 are not open..... bumma
  7. OK Found it! Can someone go down and open the doors for me????
  8. Yeah, wrong place. Need to find MCAS Tustin (KNTK) Doesn't show up with the MSFS search.
  9. Are you sure this is the right place? Doors are locked, no one around (and they are toooo narrow for the Warrior)
  10. Rupert et al, OK the hanger with two doors still appears in MSFS2020 at Moffit Field. The trees make it more interesting!! Not sure the wings will clear the door!! Still working on it........
  11. Picked a well known bridge - Forth Railway Bridge..... Yes! is DOES fly under bridges !!? (Also include the practise runs with the JF Piper Warrior - had to clean up the different bridge models created from overlying scenery mods!!!??) )
  12. I installed FSJumpstar2020 some time ago, but would like the option of starting MSFS "normally". Can I just remove FSJumpstart2020 from the desktop? If so what then starts MSFS??? I'm using the disk version of MSFS with disk 1 locked in the DVD drive!! Can you help?
  13. Cas141, Earlier this year I went through similar issues. I was so impressed with MSFS (having flown VFR in FSX for many years) scenery that I upgraded my computer to a hot shot MSI gaming machine with very similar specs to the one you mention. Absolute majic!! I added a 28" monitor which makes it even better. My ol' Sidewinder FFB works 100% but I did "invest" in a Yoke and rudder pedals. Never tried VR so can't comment.
  14. With over 1400 of these kits built I'm surprised there's no models available for MSFS. Looks like an exciting plane, would be a lot of fun! https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Stoddard-Hamilton_Glasair_II
  15. Larry, You're 100% correct stall/ spiral dive - didn't recover until 5000 feet. Previous flight to 40000 feet was "unexciting" and pretty normal.
  16. The quoted max ceiling was 44000, so I came pretty close!!!
  17. Yesterday 1st Sept when I loaded msfs I found some aircraft - Asobo Texan/ Beech 18/ P51D didn’t show. They are still in the Community folder. I also notice that the msfs marketplace is “currently unavailable” Is this a coincident?? Any ideas?? Ken
  18. Mallcott, I've done that a few times with no success. Have you successfully tried to convert this model yourself to msfs?????
  19. Not sure what may be wrong, but the Beech 18 in msfs doesn't want to start engines. Tried the usual ctl+E etc. Nada....... Can you help?
  20. I'm waiting on converting to msfs..... In the meantime I continue to use FSX. I have a working SWFF2 (with extremely poor rudder control!!!) and also an old set of CH rudder pedals. The pedals have a gameport connection but I have the USB adaptor. This, I think means I'd end up with the SWFF2 on one USB port and the pedals on another. Would that work??? (I'm not at home to try the pedals so looks for some insight.) Thanks.
  21. Installing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 I use a Win10 (1909) MSI Cx62 6QD laptop, i7, nvidia 940MX, 16Gb ram, 500Gb SSD. I naively thought when I purchased the boxed Standard set (10 DVD) that is was just a matter of installing them and enjoying the experience of flying. The msfs Handbook, p7 said 150 Gb space was required. I cleaned up C: drive to make sure 150 Gb was available. There was nothing on the packaging about “mandatory” internet connection or “mandatory” signing up to Microsoft Store. It took four hours (!!) to install all the DVD’s. I then had to log into Microsoft Store to obtain the “Download Software Launcher”. This required the entry of the 25 digit Activation code, supplied with the DVD’s. That’s when things went wrong! After entering the code a message came up saying >100Gb of space was required. With the icons/ pictures of the msfs packaging prominent, I assumed this meant it was going to download the whole content already downloaded from the DVD’s. A moment of panic. Eventually I took step of saying OK…. But the remaining space on C: drive (about 30Gb) was not enough for the 120Gb “new” download. I had to clean out my D: drive and nominate a folder there. Initially the download was 62Mb file, followed by a 1.2Gb file. Then came the answer……There was a “Mandatory Update” of 115.3Gb (turned out to be 120.38Gb!!!!!!!!!!!!) It asked to install the game DVD… Which one? I have ten disks! Decided to load disk #1, seemed to work. I gave it 6 hours, then left it overnight…. It took more than 12 hours to download. (ave 25 Mbits/s) After 24 hours I still have NOT successfully installed msfs!! It crashes to the Desktop (CTD) before completing the install. It gets as far as “World Improvements” – Spain/ Portugal etc. then crashes. There’s a long thread (going back to 2019) on “failure to install – CTD” https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/game-crashes-at-launch/420354/29 The main successful solution seemed to be: cmd.exe /C start shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App –FastLaunch This was tried numerous times… Working in safe mode While checking for upgrades – black screen – blue line at bottom, then CTD. Checked for Win 10 upgrades – installed the latest Win10 upgrade 21H2 Removed the Realtek Audio 11.8.21 6.0.1.866 Tracked the error through Event Viewer: Module d3ll.dll Ver 10.0.0.19041.1202 Exception code 0xc0000005 #7 Trial (!!) Moved the download data to the C:\ drive RE-tried the – Fast Launch This time it looked for Updates and showed 92Gb as “Mandatory Update” Started, 7:40pm. Download continued…… Now 9am on the third day and still no msfs2020………… Rebooted laptop Retried the – Fast Launch Got to “Checking for updates”, Black screen, Blue line (about 50%) then CTD!!!!!!!!!! Looking back on things, I do note that msfs raised a message “Your computer doesn’t meet minimum requirement and performance may be compromised.” The MSI spec (see above) looks OK???? Where do I go from here? Need help.
