  1. Sounds to me like you need to reset your barometric pressure..is it 300 ft above and below?....For example..Such n such 11 you are 300ft below your assigned altitude please climb and maintain 37,000 t?
  2. Even when I hit ESC it kills the engines for me in whatever plane I am flying as well. At least now I know to expect it so I always make sure I have enough altitude to restart.
  3. I had this same issue while flying recently. 747-8 KJFK to KSAN somewhere over the midwest I lost ATC and all I heard was my co pilots answers. Even when I opened the drop down ATC box there was no text of their commands. I just figured it was a glitch as it hadnt happened before or since..It was kinda strange.
  4. I'm with Plainsman here. My lappy is almost 3yrs old with an nvidia 1060 almost maxxed on space running graphics on high end not ultra and loving every minute of it. Never had major issues other than what needed patching from Asobo. Every time i fly i am amazed and enthralled. Yeah if I cam around too fast sometimes it crashes but since humans are supposed to be the superior race i evolved and dont cam fast anymore and have no issues. I keep windows updated, pay my cable bill on time and have a blast. Was even using OnAir for a while now I just go and find stuff to look at..With no scientific research I too am of the belief most issues with this sim are user created and brought on by your ownself..IMHO
  5. I too am part of the silent majority of no major issues after updates. i dont run the game higher than my machine can handle and i keep windows updated and I absolutely love Randy's sarcasm..
  6. Yes speed brakes help. I fly the 320 all the time and the only time I have experienced something similar is early on when landing I would turn the AP off but the the auto throttle stays on and would lead to a few go arounds because i couldnt figure out why the throttle kept accelerating. So I would first check to make sure when you turn the AP off you also make sure you have the auto throttle off. Also when on final use selected on your throttle instead of managed as this allows you to manually dial down your landing speed. Also I usually set the auto brakes to max and depending on where I am landing I also use the thrust reversers to help slow my roll out. Those need to be keyed into whatever system you are using and this is important.. Make sure its a unique key and not binded to anything else. One last thing, remember theres a delay sometimes coming out of AP when applying or retarding the throttle.
  7. No pictures again but what a fun flight. I decided to go to the land of my ancestors and take advantage of the new update. King Air from Kristiansund Norway (EKNB) to the farthest north commercial airport on the Island of Svalbard and the Longyear airport (ENSB). Lots of clouds along the route and with no ILS I was a little worried visibility at the airport could be below minimums. But fortunately the cloud layer broke at 2000ft and I was able to make a nice visual approach and touch down. One minor blip in the flight. I was so far north the GPS was having straying issues and I was clean off the VFR map. The airport at Svalbard is really neat looking and the ice flow around the island was unexpected and really cool. Big props to MS and Asobo for adding that realism. I was not expecting that.. Next question is can you land on it.. Great scenery all around with the update and I cant wait to turn live weather off and make it bright and sunny and see the glaciers.
  8. Yup since day 1 for me.. Not sure how accurate it is as I have flown beyond the ring.
  9. Make sure your windows are up to date with the latest whatevers. I had the same issue and found my windows 10 was out of date..Problem solved
  10. No fancy pictures as I keep forgetting how, another topic, anyways did a few fun flights in the good ole 172. Forgot how fun that is eeven though it doesnt climb worth a darn...Started out with a late afternoon VFR trip from Tacoma KTIW to Ocean Shores W04. After buzzing the beauty that is the Chambers Bay golf course I proceeded to travel south to Olympia then out to the coast with a nice soft approach from the north. After a quick refuel and a bite to eat it was time to climb back into the 172 and head off from W04 down the coast past Long Beach into Astoria Oregon KAST for a dusk landing. From there it was time to find the sun so I repositioned the 172 to the big island and Hilo international PHTO for a VFR flight via the Hawaii observatory to PHNP and Ford Island field for a fun grass strip landing..All in all a fun way to spend a rainy day off. Took over 30 minutes to spiral up an altitude high enough to get over the top of Mauna Kea. Very impressed with the observatory complex..They did a great job modeling it..Until the next adventure.
  11. Make sure your windows are up to date with the current version..Not installing windows updates can cause CTD's
  12. Units?...You can manually adjust the dial by the single digits if I remember correctly if you want to set a specific airspeed.
  13. Ahhhhhh the old photogrammetry trick. It's a playful little gremlin that one..But not the end of the world..Cmon man its just a game and a damned good one to boot.
  14. Another example of the sim being fine, just a little user error. Glad you got it figured out and happy flying.
  15. Decided to log some AP time so a trip to the islands was calling my name. B747-8i KSEA to PHNL IFR flight. Pushed back and departed from the north cargo facility. With Live players turned off Live traffic was pretty impressive and at 15:45 local there was lots of landing and departing from Sea-Tac. Nice smooth climb out flying runway hdg till just east of Tacoma and at roughly 6000AGL I flipped on the auto pilot and baby sat that thing all the way to 30k ft where if you are flying the 747 you need to retard your VS roughly to the 400-750 FPM to avoid the porpoising that often happens if you leave the VS too high. 20mins later im at 38K feet and time for cocktails. Smooth flight with no issues except for when my cat stepped on the keyboard and deployed the speed brakes and next thing I knew im down to 200 IAS falling through 28k ft. So much for getting a nap in. Anyways quickly recovered reset everything back to 38k and all was good. Nice easy approach into Rwy 8L with a smooth TD and roll out..Good thing there was plenty of runway because I forgot to deploy the thrust reversers. Taxi to the gate was easy and all in all was a very nice flight roughly 5:30 in duration.. but now its time for a Mai Tai at the Outrigger and thoughts of warmer climes.
  16. Yeah i get icing like that even worse sometimes. Just make sure you have the pitots on and all the anti ice...its no biggy and pretty common in game.
  17. I have had something similar on occasion. I use the "P" button for parking break and sometimes when I go to disengage it shows it disengaged but the wheels are still locked. I just reset the brake then release it again and it cures the issue.
  18. Make sure your throttle is retarded and set in the CL position.
  19. I take off, follow the runway heading for a short time while climbing to assigned altitude, then engage A/P first on HDG mode (as I usually do to get some distance from the airport) then switch over to NAV mode and it will begin tracking correctly and then within several seconds to maybe a minute into the flight the plane seems to disengage AP and starts to change heading (even though the magenta line remains on course) and then begin a fast downward spiral and crash. Could some of your button maps have possibly moved causing a conflict as described in previous posts. Its possible you have multiple inputs conflicting.
  20. So about 2 weeks back or so my lil lappy started getting clunky and the stuttering most have experienced became the norm for me right up until the dreaded CTD. Crap, I figured after many months of wonderful flying and watching and reading about others trials, crashes and tribulations I figured well my number came up as after I would flight plan and click Fly the bar would load load load then just as it was done loading bam CTD, facepalms. Now what? OK my lappy is 2+yrs old, I knew my machine was gonna be pushing the limits i7 1060x nowhere enough ram yadda yadda yadda. First thought, virus ugh... Instead of coming in here crying and lambasting Asobo or Microsoft because they are easy targets and asking what do I do heeeeelp I took a step back and went over some of the threads here in my head as I like to stay up to date on things and remembered a post on one of the CTD threads from Plainsman I believe making a simple comment about Flight Simulator needs to have the current windows updates and that can cause CTD's so I went hmmmmm I wonder as I dont remember my puter doing its normal updating like it was. Thats what really sent me down the virus rabbit hole to no avail so I checked windows updates. There were 8 of them pending download so what did i do? You guessed it pressed the download button and...........nothing it wouldnt download..FFS now what? ok deeper down the virus rabbit hole all the way to nothing so i put it away for a week and did other things. Decided to look at it on Sunday and after poking around the net I found something saying windows wont update unless you have 14g of space. so it told me how to check on disk space, holy eff balls 3G free basically maxed out with nowhere enough room to update windows and the gears started clicking. So after several minutes of clearing space i finagled 17G free and was like well alright lets go. Went to check windows update and Bill Gates already had the boys downloading and installing so all that was left after they updated was to fire up Flight Sim and see what happens...Well whadda ya know program loaded normally right into the flight page and beyond and Ole Mike is back amongst the clouds and moving metal around...Anyways thanks to all the computer experts on here and heres the morale of the story...Check you s*** before you go crying about Asobo and Microsoft, they aint perfect nor is this sim but if you pay attention you just might learn something.
  21. It depends on what i am flying and where. I love VFR in the King Air and will also VFR the airliners too but it depends on weather and destination airport. No way will i fly VFR into Quito (SEQM) with any clouds in anything. I've scraped myself off too many mountains. I guess I look at it like this, if I want to be lazy I'll fly around on auto pilot using IFR or if the destination can be tricky, otherwise I'll fly VFR and just bee line it to where I am going.
  22. No I only use the Asobo, crap I am at work and cant access the panel but to the left of the airspeed control on the top of the dash are some dials and switches. One is the range changer for your FMC/or route display to the left of that is a button CRS or CSM but if you hover your mouse over it it should say "restraints" turn that on, it shows your minimums for each waypoint on your flight path on ILS. You should be able to change your range from 20nm to 160nm and it might go as low as 10.. My old age is hampering my memory, also turn the terrain on if you dont have it already and your display showing your pink line will also show terrain to help with the flyi9ng in the mountains. That button is on the main dash to the right of the route display.
  23. From reading your post my instant thought is you may not have the throttle set correctly as this will sometimes cause conflicts. Anyways to give you some idea of what I do and I fly the 320 alot. First before engaging the AP on climb out make sure you retard the throttle into the CL position, it should feel like a click as it hits the right spot. Then engage the AP with auto throttle engaged and heading set to managed BUT use Select to control the altitude, basically dial in the alt press the knob in to select, stay out of managed mode for altitudes trust me your life will be a lot easier. Also upon decent turn off auto throttle and manage your speed by yourself by dialing in the appropriate speed and use the altitude mode in select to dial down your altitude as you descend. Also a tip is to have minimums turned on with your display at 10 or 20 range. Minimums can be turned on by pushing the CRS or CSM i forget but its by the display knobs on the dash directly in front of you. The minimums are important because sometimes ATC isnt exact and if you are flyin an ILS approach it tells you what altitude you need to be at as you fly the approach. So bottom line is in my experience, ONLY use managed for heading and throttle Use selected for altitude and life will be easier all around.
  24. I am currently using OnAir and while initially i was happy with it when my second 3 mos are up i am not renewing and will seriously look at Air Hauler. Its a one time cost instead of recurring and to be honest I got sick and tired of the horrible lag in OnAir and they keep readjusting aircraft capacity and range so its hard to continue with a laid out strategy and the only way to contact them is through a discord you HAVE to join if you want to communicate. Plus as you expand your airline or company it just becomes a grind to launch planes and flights..
