  1. Hi, I have an FSX scenery folder on my desktop and make up individual folders for each scenery. Just make a New York scenery folder, and put that into the FSX Scenery folder on your desktop, then add the scenery folder for each area you want to add, then make a Washington scenery folder and do likewise. You can also put Traffic bgl files in these folders as well, just make up your traffic file, put it in a scenery folder, activate it, and away you go. You should end up with the following folder structure, I have the following: Main Folder = FSX Scenery (on desktop) Sub Folder = New York Scenery > Scenery Folders >> Manhattan, JFK, La-Guardia, etc Sub Folder = New Jersey Scenery > Scenery Folders > NJ GA Airports, Newark, Teteborough etc Sub Folder = Nepal Scenery > Scenery Folders > Lukla, Lukla Traffic, etc FSX is not bothered where the add on scenery is, you just add it by finding the path in scenery manager, and don't forget if you are using Windows 7 or 10 that to add the folder you will need to right click on the white area in the explorer window, it's a quirk in W7 / W10. I put my scenery folders on my desktop as I find it easier to work with that way, but it doesn't matter where they are, as long as its not in programme files x86 Hope this makes sense cheers i7-4770K 4.60 GHz (Hyperthreading off) Cooler Master Liquid Cooling System 16 GB G-Skill DDR3 GeForce GTX1050Ti 4GB 500GB WD Blue 3D SSD SATA III x4 Creative Sound Z Sound Card 5.1Ch 24BitAvermedia HD-C985 video capture card CH Yoke and Rudder NZXT Grid+ V2 Fan Controller + 3 case fans Windows10 64 Prof FS9 - FSX -FSX-SE Track Hat
  2. Hi Luscombe, Just my 5 cents, but I installed FSX-SE two years ago, and have never looked back, and whilst I still run FSX as test setup, all of my flying is done in Steam, and I have never had any issues, I have had to re-install twice due to PC issues, but no fuss or drama in either install, you could do a lot worse than going down the Steam route. Check out FSX-SE at the link below, https://fsxinsider.com/fsx-steam-edition-and-boxed-fsx-what-is-the-difference/ Hope this helps :D Cheers i7-4770K CPU O/C 4.60 GHz (Hyperthreading off) Cooler Master Liquid Cooling System 16 GB G-Skill DDR3 Nvidia GeForce GTX1050Ti 4GB 500GB WD Blue 3D SSD SATA III x4 Creative Sound Z Ultra High-Performance Sound Card 5.1Ch 24BitAvermedia HD-C985 video capture card CH Yoke and Rudder Deepcool Tesseract Mid Tower NZXT Grid+ V2 Fan Controller + 3 case fans Windows10 64 Prof FS9 - FSX -FSX-SE Track Hat
  3. Hi Windows 10 plays fine with FSX for me, never had any problems with either, have a look at the guides here, they were originally for W7/8, but work fine with W10. https://www.simforums.com/forums/the...opic46211.html https://www.simforums.com/forums/nvi...opic59954.html I have used these many times, and for me they just work, I have always locked my frame rates at 1/2 the monitor refresh rate, (30 fps), switched off hyperthreading and use Nvidea Inspector without problems, I don't spend hours tweaking buffer pools, fibre frame fractions or any other meaningless tweaks that work for a while but then cause a problem somewhere, I just fly and enjoy it. My scenery may not be as good as some peoples, but I am happy with it, and after all, it is supposed to be a flight simulator, not a scenery simulator. I am happy with views like this on approach, with the added bonus of no stutters, just nice and smooth  i7-4770K CPU O/C 4.60 GHz (Hyperthreading off) Cooler Master Liquid Cooling System 16 GB G-Skill DDR3 Nvidia GeForce GTX1050Ti 4GB 500GB WD Blue 3D SSD SATA III x4 Creative Sound Z Ultra High-Performance Sound Card 5.1Ch 24BitAvermedia HD-C985 video capture card CH Yoke and Rudder Deepcool Tesseract Mid Tower NZXT Grid+ V2 Fan Controller + 3 case fans Windows10 64 Prof FS9 - FSX -FSX-SE Track Hat
  4. Hi, If you PM me, I may be able to help, Cheers
  5. +1 I use this in FSX and FSX-SE, and fortunately have never encountered these problems, I do have accident and damage turned off at the moment, don't know whether this makes a difference, and I did come across this piece of info, dont know if it may help: -----------How to fix tail contact point glitch----------- You may have noticed the Just Flight Cessna 152 cannot pitch over 10deg on the ground before a spark appears 6ft behind the back end of the plane in a "tailstrike" despite the tail being far from the ground. This can be fixed in the aircraft.cfg by scrolling down to the [contact_points] section (about 2/3 way into the file), find the line: "point.5 = 2, -22.29, 0.00, -0.65, 1200, 0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.000, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 9" The only number that matters here is "-22.29". Change that to "-16.29" and the problem is fixed. -----------How to fix alieron oversensitivity------------- Some people complain that the roll on the Just Flight C152 is too sensitive. If you find that so, in the aircraft.cfg scroll to [flight_tuning] and change the "aileron_effectiveness" from 1.0 to a smaller number. 0.7 works for me. As far as I know, these fixes have already been applied, and I fly this ac a lot and love it, and to me, it's a good representation of this great little trainer, I have a lot of hours in RWF Cessna 152s, and it brings back many happy memories:) Just my thoughts, not wanting to start an argument:D Cheers Richard ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intel Core i7-4770K CPU Overclocked @ 4.60 GHz (Hyperthreading off) Cooler Master Liquid Cooling System 16 GB G-Skill DDR3 Nvidia GeForce GTX1050Ti 4 GB Graphics Card 500GB WD Blue 3D SSD SATA III x4 Creative Sound Z Ultra High-Performance Sound Card 5.1Ch 24BitAvermedia HD-C985 video capture card CH Yoke and Rudder Deepcool Tesseract Mid Tower PC Case NZXT Grid+ V2 Fan Controller + 3 case fans Windows10 64 Professional FS9 - FSX -FSX-SE Track Hat
  6. Hi Eric, You are welcome, and you are right, that,s a great paint job, she is a "beaut", you ought to upload it to the library so others can enjoy it cheers
  7. Hi Thomasbk, if you PM and let me have a picture, I should be able to do a paint for you cheers Richard
  8. Hi, Sorry, I should have put in the readme that the BMP textures are for FS2004, and if you want to use them in FSX, then for sure you will have to flip them vertically:o, I generally convert textures to DDS where possible. cheers
  9. Hi, I have just uploaded the Carenado 172N blank textures for FSX and FS2004, but will probably not be available for download till tomorrow, any problems, your more than welcome to pm me, cheers Intel Core i7-4770K CPU Overclocked @ 4.60 GHz (Hyperthreading off) Cooler Master Liquid Cooling System 16 GB G-Skill DDR3 Nvidia GeForce GTX1050Ti 4 GB Graphics Card 500GB WD Blue 3D SSD SATA III x4 Creative Sound Z Ultra High-Performance Sound Card 5.1Ch 24BitAvermedia HD-C985 video capture card CH Yoke and Rudder Deepcool Tesseract Mid Tower PC Case NZXT Grid+ V2 Fan Controller + 3 case fans Windows10 64 Professional FS9 - FSX -FSX-SE Track Hat

  11. Hi Bernard, I have a separate Golden Wings install, and use it extensively to re-create the very challenging early years of commercial air travel in the US and I love it, and it is pretty much my go to sim at the moment, I spend more time on it than FSX!!, that for sure. I use the fantastic DC2, Boeing 247 and 247D, and a DC3 that has been adjusted specifically for this early type of flying, plus any other correct period aircraft, and also the excellent "Radio Range" navigation system to make it really authentic. To make it really interesting, I have installed some good terrain mesh for the USA and the fantastic "Ice Gauge" by Charles Owen that actually makes your windscreen freeze over during icing conditions, now that is cool!, literally. Radio Range DC3 here, 5th from bottom: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?searchid=78103278 Radio Range here: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?searchid=78102760 Ice Gauge is here 2nd from bottom: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?searchid=78103312 I found a website that has investigations into Air Accidents in the USA between 1934 and 1965, and although they make for very sober reading, they include a lot of of information, such as flight plan, route, time and date, weather, nav aids, fuel and a lot of other info that enables me to re-create quite accurately many of these early flights, and yes I can confirm it can go wrong, as most of these cross country flights were at night, and with some decent terrain mesh can be reproduced pretty accurately. I have completed coast to coast flights, as well as some of the shorter scheduled flights and using the Radio Range system, it really makes me appreciate how hard this type of flying was, but it is great to "get on the beam", find your destination and pull off a landing. The reports also bring home how dangerous and unforgiving these early commercial flights were, but as with all accident investigation reports, the information gained from these long and painstaking investigations, have gradually made air travel what it is today. The link is below. https://dotlibrary.specialcollection.net/Contents You will have to navigate back to the home page, make an account and log in, but it is fine, I've never had a problem. Enjoy proper flying, cheers Richard Intel Core i7-4770K CPU Overclocked @ 4.60 GHz (Hyperthreading off) Cooler Master Liquid Cooling System 16 GB G-Skill DDR3 Nvidia GeForce GTX1050Ti 4 GB Graphics Card 500GB WD Blue 3D SSD SATA III x4 Creative Sound Z Ultra High-Performance Sound Card 5.1Ch 24BitAvermedia HD-C985 video capture card CH Yoke and Rudder Deepcool Tesseract Mid Tower PC Case NZXT Grid+ V2 Fan Controller + 3 case fans Windows10 64 Professional FS9 - FSX -FSX-SE Track Hat
  12. I am guessing this is to do with your Orbx scenery, ref your previous post, have you actually looked at any of the replies, and if so were any of them helpful:confused: It would probably help if you were to let people know whether you tried any of the offered suggestions, and what, if any difference it made. I suspect looking at this post, that none of the previous suggestions helped, so if you have installed your Orbx scenery via "Orbx Central", then I don't know what else to suggest, as I said in a previous post, I use many Orbx products, and have always found them excellent and generally installed in the correct place, but on the odd occasion I have encountered a problem, they have been very helpful and have sorted these small issues promptly, so it may be worth contacting them, as I am pretty sure this is an installation issue, cheers
  13. 14. Not wishing to play devils advocate, but do the people that criticise Orbx actually use any of there products, and if so, have they installed them correctly along with all the other required and or recommended scenery. I have been using Orbx products for the last 3 years, and never really had a problem with any of them. I have always downloaded and installed my purchased scenery via Orbx Central, let it install it where it needs to, and used the "Terrain Vector" tool when needed. I have made sure that I have installed the required scenery for each area, and never fiddled with its install location or order. I read the install manual and set the scenery as per the manual suggestion, and adjust as required. On the odd occasion I have had a problem, I have e-mailed Orbx direct and received a solution promptly, so personally, I can't fault Orbx products or support I have flown many low and slow VFR flights over the UK, and whilst it is not perfect in terms of road and object placement, it is extremely good, and certainly accurate enough for me to able navigate by and after all, it is not claiming to be "photo scenery". For me personally, I love the difference it makes to FSX, I love the look of the ground textures, trees etc, the airports are fantastic, and it has never caused me a problem with frame rates. I am not wishing to offend anybody, but I just have to "speak as I find" cheers, stay safe. 16. Hi, Have a look at the PDF at the following link, it explains in easy terms the optimal texture size's and formats for FSX, and how to optimise them, it may be able to help if you have a VAS problem. It really is a good read, and the author uses examples to illustrate the effect that large and poorly optimised textures have on sim performance. Also, if you are using FSX, do you have the "HIGHMEMFIX=1" in your CFG file, I understand it was left out of FSX, but added to FSX-SE, I don't know whether this fix makes any difference to VAS usage, but I am sure somebody more clever than I will let us know, ;) https://www.dropbox.com/s/ttx3e1izjfo5e8i/mipmapping_guide.pdf?dl=0 I have optimised many many textures over the years, including all the "Traffic Global AI" aircraft textures, and although it is a lot of work, it does make difference, Cheers Intel Core i7-4770K CPU Overclocked @ 4.60 GHz (Hyperthreading off) Cooler Master Liquid Cooling System 16 GB G-Skill DDR3 Nvidia GeForce GTX1050Ti 4 GB Graphics Card 500GB WD Blue 3D SSD SATA III x4 Creative Sound Z Ultra High-Performance Sound Card 5.1Ch 24BitAvermedia HD-C985 video capture card CH Yoke and Rudder Deepcool Tesseract Mid Tower PC Case NZXT Grid+ V2 Fan Controller + 3 case fans Windows10 64 Professional FS9 - FSX -FSX-SE Track Hat
