  1. NOTE: This update's 'readme.txt' will overwrite FSDS_T-6.ZIP's 'readme.txt' if you unzip/copy straight into the T-6G folder. The instruction in starting this plane is in the first 'readme.txt' but not in this update's 'readme.txt'. You'll need the instruction if you haven't flown FSDS_T-6.ZIP yet.
  2. This plane is absolutely a joy to use! Easily top five best free FSX airplanes for me.

For me, flight dynamics will either make or break the model and this plane's flight dynamic is one of the best around. It flies with much authority and its controls are stable and predictable (my yoke sensitivity in FSX Settings is set high at 100 for crisp responses). And those two turbine engines, the power they hold are immense but not overwhelming.

Water operation is a bit tricky to do since FSX didn't do a good job of modeling this accurately but this plane did well in the water. It definitely need the water rudder to control it in the water. I especially enjoyed seeing the water dripping/spray still following the plane after a water take off. That's something I have not seen before in a MSFS seaplane.

The interior (both cockpit and the passenger area) and external details are detailed and exquisite. I recommended adding at least one passenger viewpoint. The panel, both 2D and especially the 3D/VC is well done. I do have one complaint; the white-lit buttons in the top console in the virtual cockpit are too bright and distracting for me during night time flying, being right in front of the pilot's face.

And finally, the post-engine-shutdown details make it all the more sweeter for me. All in all, outstanding job on this one! I like planes that make me work for it to have successful flights and this one does it.

And thanks for the cigars, too! :-)

  3. Issues:

In the VC/3D, the R1/R2 button in DME radio and all of the normal buttons/dials in the Comm/Nav radio doesn't worked for me. I can change on the 3D/VC's radio numbers directly and the radios worked fine in the 2D main panel. Hope someone can suggest a fix. (FSX-Steam/DX9)

Other than that, this plane was a real treat! Lot of details.

  4. I was pleasantly surprised to find the '062' liveries included in this one, both the in-progress restoration version and the dark-navy-blue paint version! The Attu Warior's livery/model was extra bonus point for me.

If you're into WW2 aviation history and/or restoration, here is the super super super long thread on finding and restoring the '062':

To the makers of this plane, will you consider also doing the final '101' fire tanker livery as shown on the first page of the aforementioned thread? Faded/peeling paint, faded aluminum skin, bee hive, missing dials/holes in the panel, taped up hole on the nose, leather peeling off steering wheels, dents, rusts, stains, etc. Hopefully, both interior and exterior. Probably a huge job and a new entire model so I'll be happy with just the exterior livery to go with your 37 (another surprise! 062's early fire tanker livery; harptankfsx.zip).

If you like this plane, be sure to check out their pv1fsx.zip and fsxlodestar.zip, too. Their famous FS9 Howard 500 (hw5vc4.zip) will also work in FSX-Steam if you install the FSX prop texture fix (howard_fsx.zip).

Excellent work on all of them!

  5. Oh, this was a good one.

Mini-review: the textures on this one is minimal and only where needed, so this plane is very FPS friendly. The 3D/VC panel is crisp and clean. Easy to read/scan, too. The knobs and buttons are easily adjustable and accessible to my mouse. Flight dynamic seems well-designed, too; a smooth stable ride. Its 2D is unusual in that it doesn't have the typical panel layout as other FS planes would have. Instead, it's a fullscreen view with a right-side panel that contain just the radios, flap indicator, and trim indicator. For a 2008 MSFS plane, this is one plane that still holds up very well today. I'll be keeping this one in my hanger! (FSX-Steam, DX9)

  6. It's just a text document in a zip file. Here's the content of it:

    1) make a copy of your aircraft.cfg or rename it like aircraft-original.cfg

    2) search inside it the section [WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE]

    3) change max_gross_weight with this one: 1410958

i have take it from Wikipedia eng.

    4) change empty_weight with this one: 628317

i have take it from Wikipedia eng.

    5) now we go to touch the fuel on board.

    6) go to [fuel] section.

    7) in the 4th columns you can see these numbers: 38937.0 - 38937.0 - 6784.0 - 6784.0

these are the gallons it has in the 4 tanks.

    8) replace these numbers with these mine: 42033.687 - 42033.687 - 7323.536 - 7323.536

now you have exactly 300,000 kg of fuel, that is wrote in Wikipedia eng.

    9) save the file, and start FSX.

soon i prepare datas where you have different payload, and you have only to change

    the aircraft.cfg with these news.

  7. Ok, I've got mine working. What solved it for me was running the 'Setup.msi' in the 'RecorderFSX_1-331.zip' instead of do a manual install as recommended.

(same link as previous comment but specifically this post)

NOTE: skip all other versions (don't install them at all) and use that 1.331 version specifically.

NOTE: V1.331's 'Setup.msi' will overwrite whatever was in the 'dll.xml' and leave only its own entry, so make a back up of 'dll.xml' first if your copy is full of other addons.

One more link to look into if you're still experiencing issues:

(in my case, it was fixing the dll.xml file because I had installed other versions of FS Recorders that didn't worked)

  8. FSX SE users, a FYI:

For me, this v2.1 version didn't work with FSX Steam Edition on Windows 8.1 Pro (as of Sept 2016). There are solutions found online, I have tried a few promising ones, and none of them has worked for me.

Last version was released in 2012 and development for this program seems to be either in a limbo or dead. Here's a semi-official post about this issue (member 'noisy' seems to be the developer of this software).
