  1. Well, after a rather troubled day trying to figure out what MS did to us with the 1.18.13.0 update. I own premium MSFS and so had canceled the free trial of Xbox that came with my new laptop:

Using a KVM Switch to watch a larger screen

    ASUS - ROG Zephyrus M15 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q - 1TB SSD - Prism Gray

So things were looking good except for the menu bar that no longer disappears and a few mods that wouldn’t work I downloaded and installed the new Garmen and hospital airline as well as the six scenery upgrades and then couldn't flew two minutes without crashing to the desktop with a clean community folder to. So I think to myself I own it may as well reinstall it clean big mistake. Three attempts around 31GB it tells me I lost my internet connection which I know had to be on MS because my other four computers as well as this one still online. Now I take a gamble, go into my Xbox account and buy a subscription lucky for $1.00 the first month and start MSFS through them a couple hours download reinstall and even get my Premium back. So far I am flying again. Now I had this program working just fine without Xbox before this update I mean like two ctd's in a month experimenting and let it run on autopilot for hours so please tell me why I have to go back and use the XBox platform. I like to tell whoever MS has designing and or marketing this Game and I mean game not a flight simm that I am not stupid then again I did pay a hundred bucks didn't I. My first flightsim was 1995 I also still have FS9 and FSX running on three monitors.

    My FSX, FS9 Build:

Intel Core i7-4770K, ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO Motherboard, , 8GB Memory , EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 6GB Video Card,Corsair Enthusiast 750W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply,Windows 7 64bit, Corsair Hydro Series H55 CPU Cooler

I believe they really are catering to the MS XBox platform most certainly to make money. Thanks again Micro-Poop. Besides the poor bridges, trees on ships and Tarmacs, no or little waves and wakes the graphics are pretty good but that's about it.

  2. While I am now doing a clean install because program chases every two minutes after the 1.8.13.0 update I had the MSFS program working like a charm before. Here are a few things as well:

Menu Bar doesn’t disappear like the mouse cursor

The pitch trim wheel up and down no longer display the numerical values

fspm-panel-vfmap utility replaces the pause icon with a blank square in the tool bar menu after 1.18.13.0 update

Can't get the Cessna autopilot to work very well after the after 1.18.13.0 update

It used to tell you on and off as well

Since the 1.18.13.0 update can someone tell me why my Bijan Seasons that I bought and -paid for no longer works, it hangs up the MSFS when loading a flight. Thanks a lot unbelievable! Did these brilliant designers add season change for us? Couldn’t they at least fix the bridges? Maybe some fireworks.

Spend more time working on it the flying. Thanks for nothing Micro-Poop

I gather other folks having issues to. I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed but been messing around with the flight sim 1995 edition, FS9 and FSX

  3. I got everything all downloaded fine in a few hours.

Starts and runs fine. Most controls are working except for the following strange problem.

I cannot operate various switches or buttons in the cockpit with the mouse or the buttons on the yoke. When I hover the mouse over the switch or button I get a description, blue haze (flashes slowly), and what looks like a reference to a game controller button.

I do not think I have any AI assistance turned on. I never did before and made a flight this afternoon before I got the update. Also I do not have any game controllers connected. In the settings the yoke buttons are still bound to the correct action, but no action in the cockpit. Some switches are still functioning properly. Yoke flap switch. Heading bug adjustment switch. Push back request button. Toggle outside view button, toggle park brake. etc.

Mouse wheel still scrolls in and out and mouse free look is available. Got me confused on this one. Have never seen this before.

Anybody have and ideas on what I might have set incorrectly after the update? Normally I do not have any controller problems after updates.

    Hal

I had the same issue. Go into General Options-Accessibility-Cockpit Interaction-System change from lock to Legacy I believed is what changed that .

  4. Not to complain but I fail to understand why the programmers couldn't or wouldn't do a better job since these features have been accomplished in the past and not to get to involved this new flight simulator was only created to make money on their part and as the consumer well I was a carpenter and if I did a sub standard job I didn't get paid if you know what I mean and we did pay a hundred bucks for the premium program I am a little disappointed. I wish I knew more and could designed the fix for everybody for free like so many free additions I have gotten from the good people here.
  5. Besides the third part bridges I have found and installed do you think MS will fix the bridges that look like dams. I remember FS9 not having bridges at all and they came up with a patch to add them. I also noticed the ocean waves at the shoeline not moving like the nice foam effect in FXS and FS9. I wish I knew more about adding scenery and effects I would add them myself.
  6. What storage device are you using? If you are loading off an HDD, the boot time will become very annoying.

BTW, your specs say Windows 7 but I take it that is wrong, you are now in Windows 10?

Ah, those computer specs are for my other FS9, FSX. I needed a new laptop for personal work and banking and since MSFS requires windows 10. I did not want to upgrade that computer besides MSFS requires a lot more memory as well so I bought the

ASUS - ROG Zephyrus M15 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q - 1TB SSD - Prism Gray (Runs a little hotter 808-85* but I read that is normal and as you see it has plenty of memory I slave it to my desktop monitor as well with a KVM switch)

so I could check out MSFS before I decided to build another expensive simulator. (My wife asked me why I needed such a powerful computer just for our online banking I told her we had a lot of serious banking to do!)

That is another drawback not being able to run it on windows 7. That is a very stable platform as for years of updates well I am 65 years old so like though I hope I will be flying another fifteen years I used to work construction and the pile drivers union could build bridges faster the microsoft though the third party folks and my hat is off to them have done a nice job with the 119 I downloaded from flightsim.to.

  7. I finally stepped up after years of FS9 and FSX. I do have a couple concerns. 1. The boot up time Gees I that FS9 was slow and 2. Are they going to fix the bridges? Remember FS9 had no bridges until the made a fix. I have downloaded the 100 some free addon bridges very nice and some of the default bridges are good but what happened? For the most part very nice graphics now if I could combined the good parts of FS9,FSX and MSFS that would be something like I run FSX with three monitors and wondered is it possible with MSFS full screen not windowed mode?
  8. That raises another question. Where is the best place to install it. I am just learning the windows 10 on this laptop and my windows 7 and FSX I know pretty well app data and all the addons like Active Sky, Rex all the MAIW and WOAI as well as all my Saitek control systems. I am using my Thrustmaster for the MSFS and it is pretty simple and pre-mapped but I don't even know where the file is located for the controls yet. I am learning though with help from this forum.
  9. Bought a nice new Asus laptop with windows ten and with the one month free xbox checked out the MSFS2020 standard edition. Have one month free. I do not play games but I have FS2004 ad FSX. I love the new MSFS 2020 so I want the premium edition but do not want to play through xbox and pay their monthly fee if I do not need to. What are my options and will I need to remove the standard MSFS 2020 before installing the premium edition. Where would be the best place to buy and download the digital edition as well.
