I agree...nice post. Much better approach than the typical whining. To the OP...I live in Florida and I'm using TE Florida. At 4000-5000' AGL it's really good (IMNSHO). I think you'll like it. Welcome to the forum(s). Hope to see you back soon..........Doug

Time for the padlock?

Welcome to the forums. It won't be possible to do the update. Yes, go ahead with the uninstall. The registry could possibly be updated/hacked but it's not worth the effort since the uninstall/reinstall is so simple. Besides, a fresh start is usually always a good thing as opposed to an update..........Doug

But that would take all the fun out of it. Whining and complaining is a core component of flight simming. Take that away and what's left? Just flying around gets really boring at times.
-
This might work for you https://www.amazon.com/s?k=gtx+1050+mini&ref=nb_sb_noss_1 . This just one of several GTX mini cards I found with a quick search.

I have the same CPU and have looked really hard at this issue. Based on what I know I wouldn't go with anything more than a 2060 Super as the 4790K probably won't be able to feed it.

How about Inuss cool down too. He would have seen that I said that if he really read the whole post, and yet gee, I'm singled out. How shocking.
I read the whole post and, frankly, don't have a clue what you're talking about either. Please, don't come here, post something that sounds like a troll in heat, and then expect people to understand whatever it is you're trying to say.

Sigh.............

Many people have seen the same problem. As of now there is no solution. We just have to wait for a fix to be released.

I agree with the FRAPS recommendation. It is, IMNSHO, absolutely the best way to go. You can get it here: https://fraps.com/ ..........Doug

Here's the list of "known" issues: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/known-issues-last-modified-8-27-2020/128064 . I'll let you draw your own conclusions as to what's going on over there. As for me, if this is truly the list what they think are the only "known" issues we're in for a tough time..........Doug

The answer is probably no. I have the same CPU with 16 GB RAM and an old GTX970 and I don't see any freezing, pausing, or stuttering. I did a "RAM test" a couple of days ago by flying the length of Manhattan island and also up the Thames from EGLC over downtown London. Both times using Ultra settings. Those are about the most dense scenery situations I can think of. Over Manhattan the max. RAM used was 11.4GB and over London it was 13.6GB. My take is that the problem you're having is caused by something other that insufficient RAM..........Doug

Orbx has released a free airport for MSFS.
Got it. Thanks for the tip.............
-
I've given up on it for many reasons but stuttering isn't one of them. No stutters at all.
-
Or fly anything using an autopilot, CDU, RW weather, RW ATC, or any of the host of other "stuff" that either not working or working incorrectly. Maybe it'll all get fixed, or maybe not. But FSX/P3D is staying on my machine until I know which way it goes.
-
"exactly, tons of reasons...and ALL of them on the user-side"
I don't know how to say this gently but.......the installation process is a bit broken. We know it, Asobo knows it, and MS knows it. There is no other way to state it. To say that it's all a user problem is, well, just plain dumb.
-
Don't even think about running it on the laptop. It will be a slideshow (at best).
-
I agree. The chance for a CD version in the USA is somewhere between never and none.
-
I think the need for RAM is way overrated. Go with the faster processor. If you run MSFS on Medium settings, which is probably about all the laptop will do, you be fine. I just did a short test flight from LGA to EWR using Medium settings and the RAM utilized never exceeded 9 GB. And not to worry, even on medium settings everything still looks really good.....Doug

I am with Kapitan on that! Give me the classics any day!
Add me to the list also. Maybe it's because I took my first lessons in a 152 back in 1957. Or, mayby it's because such a small percentage of the real 152/172's have glass. Or, maybe it's just because I'm a grumpy old man. Whatever........bring back the steam gauges.

You'll regret it................

Welcome to the forum(s) Peter. Sadly, there is no manual (a major screwup by MS). The assignments are not the same as FSX. You can find a list of the keyboard assignments here: https://twinfinite.net/2020/08/microsoft-flight-simulator-keyboard-controls-guide/ . Also, there's some helpful stuff here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/c/guides/new-pilot-help-guides/167 ...........Doug

You need to be registered and logged in to the Orbx forums for the link to work.

not true, the ga aircraft, behave pretty well.
maybe learn how to operate them properly and set up your peripherals right,
yes rudder is too sensitive , i bet it will be fixed, but its not a priority and it certainly is flyable, if you know what you are doing.
the issue is not with the game mainly, but with the gamers.
lookat youtubes from Squirell, he does not have many problems.
If you really think that's true just have a look at the comments from real-world pilots (including myself) on some of the other forums. I think we know how to "operate them properly" and the fact is that the flight characteristics of all the GA aircraft are, how do I say this gracefully,......garbage. How many left-seat hours do you have in the real thing? I'll bet it's not many.

How true. Great advice.
